About this property
SW 4 BR , Pool&Spa on 1.7 AC in Tonto Hills @ 3600' Elev Views for Mi
Our property is modern, southwestern style home on 1.7 acres in the Tonto Hills subdivision. It offers a great 360 degree view of the adjacent Tonto National Forest, the surrounding mountains and the "valley of the sun". At an elevation approximately 2450 ft., the daytime highs are 5--7 degrees cooler than the valley.
The 2700 sq. ft. main house has 2 full bathrooms, three bedrooms and large office which easily converts into a fourth bedroom. The master bedroom has a king bed. The two other bedrooms have queens. The office has a day bed which pulls out into two twins. The 564 sq. ft. pool house has another full bath, two twin beds.. The entire pool /pool house area is surrounded by a 5 ft. tall security fence. There are 3 roomy, comfortable covered flagstone patios framed with imported Castle Rock stone columns, and exposed wood beam ceilings. The main house has two indoor fireplaces and a beehive fireplace on the back patio. The pool house has another indoor fireplace.
The pool is approximately 36 feet long and 20 feet wide. It's depth tapers from 2 feet to 6 feet. The spa can comfortably seat 6 adults. Both can be heated by their own dedicated propane heater. The heaters are supplied by two 120 gallon propane tanks, piped to fuel either one or both heaters. For a variety of reasons, the cost of propane is NOT included in the rental fees and must be purchased separately. The need for propane and its consumption varies with the season and the weather but typically, for a 4-6 day visit during the winter months, one full tank (96 gallons) will heat the spa and the other tank will be needed to heat the pool. Propane costs have historically hovered around $3.00 per gallon plus taxes and fees during the winter but does fluctuate with the market. The tanks are remotely monitored and promptly refilled by the supplier when they reach 30% full. Guests only pay for what they use.
(NOTE- The supplier only fills the tanks to 80% of capacity the winter, 70% in summer, to allow for expansion during the daylight hours. It is called the "Valley of the Sun" for a reason!)

About the host
Hosted by Jeff Hamblen

I grew up in Maryland and moved west in 1971 -- Colorado first, then New Mexico, and finally on to Arizona. I met my wife in California and moved her from the Bay Area to the Navajo reservation when I was the CEO of the hospital in Ganado. ..ain't love grand! We now live in Flagstaff. Cave Creek is our second/winter home, but we are happy to share. It was halfway between our two sons when one at the University of Arizona in Tucson and the other at Northern Arizona University (NAU) in Flagstaff. I have retired but, my wife is still teaching at NAU.
Why they chose this property
Why not!!?? We bought it because of the quiet location, great views, and proximity to every kind of outdoor activity (I'm an aging rock climber) as well as all the Phoenix events.
What makes this property unique
This home has approximately 1,500 SF of outdoor flagstone patios and walkways. The back patio has a view of the mountains around the region. It also has a bee-hive fireplace. The pool and spa and pool house are located on the west side of the arroyo that runs thru the property to take full advantage of the view south. they are accessed from the main house via a unique concrete/stone bridge over a wash. The thick walls and tile floors keep the house cool -- along with the a/c. Southwest landscaping complements both the front and back patios. The swing on the front patio is a perfect place to read.
The development/ immediate area is a great place to run, hike, bike ride or walk alone or with your best friend.
Because of our homes 2450' elevation, the average monthly high and low temperatures are typically 5-7 degrees lower than Phoenix.
