About this property

High quality lodge, well placed for exploring all corners of Devon & Cornwall

BRAMBLES - a unique opportunity to stay in one of three really cosy log cabins at Highampton which lies between Hatherleigh and Holsworthy. Our lodges are constructed from 8" pine logs and are exceptionally warm and welcoming. We offer clean, comfortable accommodation that has views which are absolutely fantastic - right across miles of beautiful Devon countryside to Dartmoor in the distance.

South facing with undercover patio, Brambles has it's own private track. Parking is on your own driveway alongside your lodge and there's a garden area for your picnics or for the children to play in. Our lodges are fully furnished for up to four people, and are centrally placed for both the north and south coasts of Devon and for the North Cornwall Coast - Widemouth Bay and Bude being particular favourites.
Holiday for 7/14 nights or take a short break - our lodges take 4 people comfortably in a main bedroom (new mattress 2022) and two twins in the second bedroom.

Please note the lodges and the site are not really suitable for very young children so no-one under the age of 4 please unless by prior agreement.

The recently updated kitchen has a dishwasher, tall fridge/freezer, electric oven with ceramic hob and a microwave and in the lounge there's a large smart TV and recently upgraded superfast Wi-Fi throughout. The recently renovated shower room has an electric shower and the water is mains, so no problem with pressure! There are heaters in all rooms and a log/coal burner in the living area.
The veranda provides useful additional space and, if you have a dog, you can close the gate and enjoy outdoor dining in the knowledge that your dog is secure.
Superfast Wi-Fi, toy box with games for young children and a table-tennis table, badminton set and swing-ball with equipment. The village of Hatherleigh is about 4 miles away with a good selection of cafes and shops. There's also a couple of pubs, supermarket + skatepark.

The lodges face south towards Dartmoor - with absolutely fantastic views. See our website for more photographs and details.

Highampton is a small village situated in Ruby country with it’s fantastic selection of trails for walkers, cyclists and horse riders. The village of Hatherleigh is about 4 miles away and has a good selection of cafes and shops. There’s also pubs, supermarket and a new skatepark. The bustling town of Okehampton is a further 7 miles away. In the opposite direction about 7 miles away lies the pretty market town of Holsworthy with the beautiful beaches of Bude a further 9 miles away.

We are centrally placed for all parts of Devon and Cornwall. The area is one of peace and tranquility, so if it's a quiet base you want for your holiday, then Dartmoor View Lodges is the place to be.

Highampton is a small village with a pub, village hall, school and visiting post-office.

Hatherleigh and Holsworthy are larger and have all the amenities you need. Our site is quiet and tranquil and wildlife is plentiful. In the early morning it is quite possible that you will see deer grazing and there are usually a lot of rabbits around and foxes pay the occasional visit. Birds thrive and we regularly see woodpeckers, tree creepers, buzzards and herons. Butterflies are also attracted by the many wild flowers that emerge in the spring and bats are plentiful at dusk.

We're also really lucky to have incredibly black night skies due to very little light pollution.

About the host

Host profile image
Relocated in 2015 from Huddersfield in West Yorkshire where we ran a small business, we chose this fantastic location for the perfect home for us and our family plus it gives us the opportunity to provide fabulous self catering holidays.

Why they chose this property

We have 3 genuine timber lodges to choose from - Bluebells, Buttercups or Brambles. Providing luxury self-catering, the lodges are well equipped and have a 4 star rating by our partner agent which guarantees good quality fittings and bedding. The lodges are regularly updated and maintained and we have recently improved the site with extensive planting and fencing. There are plenty of varied walks a short drive away and we are lucky to have Garlands Trekking and Horse Riding Centre a couple of miles down the road. Opposite our site is the popular Arms of Old archery centre.

What makes this property unique

The location is the definition of peaceful and if you like birds and wildlife it really is perfect. We also get incredibly black nights as there is very little light pollution. It's also very well placed to explore Devon and Cornwall. Exeter is about 50 minutes away, Bude about 30 minutes. The site is surrounded by fields through which you can access a section of the Ruby Way which is popular with dog-walkers, cyclists and horse-riders.
The Warhouse Valley Country Farm Park is on our doorstep and places such as The Milky Way, the Big Sheep, Crealys and the Eden Project are all within a short drive.
The views from the lodges are spectacular and are dominated by the beauty of Dartmoor.
