A Log Cabin in the Woods

Lost River Cabin is a rustic log cabin located in the beautiful and picturesque Methow Valley in north central Washington State. The cabin is minutes from the North Cascades National Park and Pasayten Wilderness. The cabin is situated on an acre and issurrounded by tall pines - privacy plus! Lost River cabin is situated 20 miles west of the town of Winthrop.
The cabin has two bedrooms (queen/full), a spacious loft with deck, a full kitchen, bathroom, and laundry room.
The cabin is completely outfitted for your comfort. Just bring your personal belongings and food and you're set for a great get away.

Our GREAT cleaning crew do their absolute best to make our cabin COVID free.

Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks and take out the rubbish
Turn off the lights, lock the doors and return the keys
 Clean outside of debris and dog waste  Grill scrubbed  All windows closed/fans off  Fold back sheets (don't strip)  Winter guests: Set baseboard heaters to medium and leave bathroom door open
 Dirty towels/kitchen linens, please place in washer and begin wash cycle.  All dishes cleaned and put away  Furniture, if moved, returned to original setting  Sweep/vacuum up any loose dog hair
Community Trash/Recycling Directions: At Arnold, turn RIGHT. Follow the road and cross the airstrip. At the intersection, the trash area is on the RIGHT.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
Pets not allowed on furniture. Extra cleaning may be required. Dishes should be washed and put away before departure.
Lost River does have full time residents. Please OBSERVE AND FOLLOW SPEED LIMIT SIGNS IN LOST RIVER. Keep the children, pets, and wildlife safe.
Trash must be discarded at community trash site. Turn RIGHT on Arnold. Follow road across airstrip and follow to intersection. Trash site on RIGHT.

This was for a cabin in the woods in Cascades National Park. Communication with the host was good. Check-in process was good. The cleanness’s of the cabin in my opinion was not very good. . We arrived to the cabin later around 8:30 9 o’clock at night and were tired and ready just to get to bed. One of us were going to sleep on the sofa couch. We pulled it out and found mouse turds on the mattress pad at that point I messaged the Host. So needless to say, we were not going to use that bed so we were short a bed. One of us ended up sleeping in the van for the night.The bed upstairs in the loft also had a spider in it when we pulled the sheets down.The next morning we got up to go out and do a lot of hiking, which was beautiful.We got back took the sheets ,mattress pad, and washed them.We moved the couch to vacuum the turds and crumbs all and lifted up the mattress and found a bunch of crumbs and turds under there as well.So for cleanliness, I would say that this was a zero was very disappointed. Since the previous reviews gave cleanliness, a high rating! I’ve never had to stay at a VRBO or Airbnb and had to vacuum and wash bedding.! In the process of doing that all we saw a mouse run across the floor at that point I was just done so we ended up packing up our stuff and finding a different place to stay for the night. Thankfully, the host did refund us for the two nights however I did not get the cleaning fee back.

As a successful nightly rental owner for 23 years, I take all guests experiences very seriously. When I learned about the mouse droppings and cleanliness issues, I contacted the renter and informed them: We have a monthly pest control service I contacted our housekeeper for cleaning and, I refunded them for their stay (everything allowed via VRBO) even if they decided to stay. The renter was told that I, as the owner of the rental, am not allowed to release all the funds. VRBO provides a maximum and I could only enter the maximum allowed. We instructed her that any additional refund would need to be through VRBO. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that all wildlife will remain outside of the cabin. This cabin is in a rural area and adjacent to the Pasayten Wilderness. This time of year presents challenges for all property owners as squirrels, mice, and spiders are looking for shelter for the upcoming winter. We take the necessary precautions, but sometimes that isn't enough. We try our best. Finally, the historical record indicates that we provide a clean, safe and a welcoming environment for our guests. We would have it no other way. This was an unfortunate event.

The house was comfortable and had everything we needed. It was my husband, four year old twins and our dog. It’s a convenient location to the National park and forest lands and the little town of Mazama was a cute and lovely surprise!

Nice, quiet little rustic cabin

Comfy and cozy cabin in a quiet area— the wood stove made the house toasty warm. The bed was comfy, and the kitchen had all the basics. Everything was clean and well maintained. The big landing field in the back was a nice place to walk the dog.

Cute rustic cabin

My husband and I came to area to hike. Unfortunately we couldn’t get into the NP due to the fire but the surrounding national forest offered amazing hikes. Cabin is near a fun swimming hole and very close to trails. The night sky was unbeatable here and Winthrop was just down the road with some fun places and lot of nice people who gave us great recommendations.

Heart of the North Cascades

This well crafted log cabin is set in a perfect location to access the many recreational opportunities in Methow Valley and the North Cascades. The cabin has all the amenities to enjoy your stay in total comfort. There was a minor glitch with my email address being incorrect but the owner was quick to respond to resolve the issue and made everything involving our stay go smoothly.

We are the Chungs. We are a family of four and have owned our log cabin since 2003. The Methow Valley holds a very special place with us and we enjoy sharing it with others. It is wonderful community to stay for a weekend or longer. Plenty to do or a perfect place to do nothing.

Why they chose this property

We always wanted a cabin in which to share with family and friends. It's in a great recreation area of Washington state and it is quite different from our primary home. We enjoy the outdoors, the sunny weather, and the beauty of all four seasons. This cabin is our retreat away from the city where we can hike, swim, star gazing, and just enjoy all there is outdoors.

What makes this property unique

Perfect place to be situated no matter what you want to do, whether its summer activities such as hiking, rock climbing, fishing, swimming, biking, star-gazing at night and in the winter months we have snow-mobiling, skiing (supposedly best in North America), sledding. And there is nothing better than waking up, walking outside and see the Cascade Mountains up close. If you are trying to get away from the busy city noises, this is definitely the place.
