Cabin was in a great location for our trip. Only down side was the listing stated theres 5 bedrooms when there was only 3 bedrooms and 3 other beds in the common area upstairs. Other than that everything was great. Lots of room and would stay there again.
We had a great stay at this cozy Sula cabin! The access to the river was perfect for both fishing and simply enjoying the view. Barb met us when we arrived—she was right on time and very friendly, which made check-in easy. One of the highlights of our trip was seeing several rams pass through the yard—an unforgettable experience! The cabin was comfortable, peaceful, and well-located. We’d definitely stay here again.
This is one of our favorite places in the Bitterroot Valley, a place we have come back to many times. The house is clean, comfortable, and well stocked with essentials. The location is excellent. We highly recommend and will no doubt be back soon!
Cabin is right on river! Walk out the door into the water. Cabin is clean comfortable and spacious for a family. Our trip was cut short due to family emergency but we will return next year God willing!
Thanks to Steve, Barb and Charles!
Fantastic location for Bitterroot river and the Big Hole. Very clean and spacious. River front was a bonus. We enjoyed the hot tub and grill on the bk porch along with the solitude. The white noise of the river at night made for peaceful sleep ! We even caught a few fish right off the deck . The only suggestion is to possibly cut the tall grass etc away from the deck so you can see what may be coming at you 😁Over all it was great and would definitely consider going back ❗️

Nice but not how it was represented
We called ahead as told, before we arrived, three times and left messages about when we were arriving. After two 10 hour days if driving we arrived to find the home locked and no one to meet us as promised. We had no cell reception so we needed to travel back down the road to email the owner through Vrbo. Needless to say it was a frustrating experience. Eventually the caretakers called us and came to open the home for us. They said they didn’t have any one scheduled for the time we were scheduled to be there. That was all disturbing. Eventually we settled in. The place was ok, no too clean, but large with various add on rooms. The showers were small add-ons in the corner of the bathrooms. The flys were horrible every day on the deck, so we didn’t spend as much time there as we hoped. The flys were really horrible! There was no wading fly fishing from the house because the rocks and boulders were too big. We found a small campground upstream to wade in and fish. The setting was beautiful and we loved hearing the river at night. Overall, we think a really good cleaning job, and some furniture upgrades and professional exterminators, might go a long way.

Every client is advised to call the caretaker to set the time of arrival.
I personally have caught 100's of fish within 100 feet of the cabin. I will admit it can be tough to wade, but doable.
When all is done and said, this is a fishing cabin not a luxury hotel.
This house is just as listed. It has everything you need and plenty of beds. We have stayed here several times now and will return again. Fully furnished kitchen has coffee pot but no Keurig machine so bring one if that’s how you make your coffee.
This cabin is exactly as pictured in the listing, possibly a little better. It is a fantastic place to relax with a group, enjoy the sound of the river, and fly fish. My husband and brother in law had a great time wading up and down the river. There is another house right across the river from this one which you don't see in the pictures, but it is a bit back from the river and hidden by plenty of bushes. Otherwise, the cabin feels completely private.
The kitchen was the best stocked with dishes, pots/pans, utensils, and small appliances of any vacation rental we have ever had, including high end homes. And the dishes were clean! I'm used to finding half of the silverware, plates, and glasses with food crusted on them. Not the case here. Possibly because the dishwasher worked great.
The bathrooms, while older, still felt clean. No black grout like in other rentals. Only kind of gross thing was The hand soap container was nearly empty and at first, all I could find was a container FULL of previously used bars of soap. Super gross any time, and not safe during COVID. I found full liquid soap containers and new bars of soap in one of the cabinets.
There are rodents. You will see traps around and I saw one live one. We have had this with other (much less clean) cabin rentals on rivers in Montana so maybe rodents are unavoidable?
The check in process here is not the typical VRBO check in where you get a code for a lock box a few days before check in. I received the usual "here's your key" email from VRBO a few days before but the day before, noticed the field was blank when I logged in. I also received a phone call and email from the mangers a couple of days before asking to arrange a meet and greet. This was off-putting because the listing described a no-contact check in process and I look for this when booking during COVID. Even pre-COVID, I can't tell you the last time I actually had to meet the owner or manager of a rental at check in. They explained to me that they had had problems with no-contact check in and that this was described in the rental agreement. I looked and the agreement says nothing about not being able to do no-contact checkins. They did end up making an exception for me.
In addition, even though the listing says the cabin sleeps 8-10 people, there is an extra fee of $20 per person per night over 4 people. This seems deceiving, but we were already committed to the week, by the time I saw it.

Glad these guests liked the kitchen, etcetera. Glad they were able to find the soaps in the cabinet and we are very sorry for any inconvenience.
However, the statements about the Fee per Person over 4 Persons and No Contact Check Ins are incorrect. In the Rental Agreement, which is available for review and which is agreed to by all persons making a reservation, it clearly states that such a fee is charged for each person over 4 persons when the reservation is made. Further, it is also clearly indicated in the 2nd paragraph of the Agreement that clients are met at Check In by our Onsite Representatives.
In addition, yes, there are many mice and other varmints present in Montana. Unfortunately, they will very often try to enter a residence for a chance at warmth and maybe some morsel of food they might find. That is why we keep the doors closed when we are in residence.
I’m not sure it gets much better than staying in the mountains in such a comfortable cabin with great front and back decks. Sitting outside with either coffee in the morning or a drink in the evening and watching and hearing the river run by is pure bliss. The kitchen is more equipped for cooking than most we’ve been, which is nice since groceries were a little ways out. We love the area, it’s just so peaceful and gorgeous. Thanks for giving us a great place to kick back!
We had a wonderful time at this Cabin on the river. We had our 2 young grandkids ages 55 and 6 and it was a great spot for them. Large lawns to run around and a fishing deck on the river to cast their lines. Beds are great, bedding is nice and comfortable, rooms are clean . Bathrooms are nice, great showers and a bath tub too. The kitchen is fully stocked, if you have favorite spices you could bring, but kitchen has most you would need. Wonderful views of the river from the windows in kitchen and family room and master bedroom. Sit on the deck and watch the river go by it can’t get better than that !! Great time for us and we will come back again!!
Nice fishing cabin. Well stocked and comfortable. User friendly and good property manager. River in back fished ok. Limited wading spots. Rocks are slippery. Great fishing in the area. Enjoyed our stay. Thank you.
This property is just as advertised with two downstairs bedrooms and three upstairs bedrooms that also work as a bunkhouse. The cabin is fully appointed with cooking cleaning items needed for everyday living and even a brand new oven. Check in was a breeze and Chuck the care taker couldn’t have been nicer. If you have any problems are questions he is right on them. Perfect place to stay right on the river for fishing. Great for groups large or small. I can’t say enough good about it! Thank you!
Coming from the city, this cabin in this location gives me the opportunity to relax and enjoy the mountain and river surroundings that most people only experience in a travel log
Why they chose this property
Being a lifelong fisherman and outdoor enthusiast, this place provides it all
What makes this property unique
Area activities include: fishing, horseback riding, downhill and cross-country skiing, hiking, four wheeling on ATVs, hunting, river rafting, bird watching, snowmobiling, mountain biking, wildlife viewing, antiquing and historic sightseeing.
The river receives very little fishing pressure in this area and teems with wild trout that readily take dry flies most of the year. Big game abounds in the surrounding forest and it is not unusual to see deer or Big Horn Sheep in the front yard in the evening or in the early morning hours. Sometimes even an Elk or a Moose may wander into the yard.
