If you prefer, make your dinner over an open fire beneath the trees, though of course, there's a well equipped kitchen to cook up the generous cooked breakfast provisions provided and a comfortable separate living room with Mintaro slate floors and reverse cycle air conditioning in addition to a pot belly stove.

Well mannered dogs are welcome inside, however the courtyard is enclosed by a picket fence so guests can be sure their dogs are secure while they enjoy the local restaurants and wineries.

Foxtel provides inside entertainment while outdoors guests can enjoy the plentiful birdlife, including a variety of parrots, and kangaroos.

Restaurants, wineries and a first class golf course are easily accessible. Clare township offers good shopping facilities while the Clare Valley is noted for its fine wines, excellent wineries, scenic drives and the beauty of its trees and rolling hills. The area has an unspoilt rural charm about it.

For the cyclist or walking trail enthusiast, the popular Riesling Trail follows the old train line between Clare and Auburn (22km). The trail passes close to wineries, restaurants and scenic spots. It is sign posted and the full trail does not have to be negotiated.

Beautiful bushland property. The wattles were out and many parrots flying around. Can sit and enjoy this around your own fire pit. So peaceful. The cottage was very cosy and comfy. We loved our stay and would definitely stay again.

Relaxed country cottage

A delightful and rustic cottage from which to explore Clare and the riesling trail. We loved sitting on the verandah after a hard days pedalling to watch the birds in the gum trees on the property. Thanks for another great visit.

Cathy's Cottage

A rustic little cottage for two (and a dog) among the gum trees .Very comfortable and welcoming within a peaceful rural environment, including kangaroos and bird life.. We enjoyed the wood burner, visiting the alpacas and rambling through the bushland property.

R&R

The property was just as advertised. The location was great. One minor hiccup when another couple turned up for the same cottage on the same days. Double booking is never good.

I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay, Michael. Thank you for the kind words! Double booking is never good but the other couple was booked into Peppertree Cottage on the same property. We look forward to seeing you again sometime! :) Cheers, Beverley

Warm and Cosy

I wish I had booked a longer stay. I will next time. Cosy cottage with all the basic essentials. It was very warm and cosy, either with the air-con, or wood fire. Heaps of food provided for breakfast. Tomatoes, eggs, bacon, loaf of bread, butter, jams, lots of different cereals. Very comfy and warm bed. Great property with so much native vegetation planted and regenerating. Huge eucalyptus forests and gullies with extensive birdlife. Nice to see the kangaroos too. Very freindly family, thanks for sharing your special property.

Great seclusion and privacy, but...

Wonderful location, with privacy and peace. However, there were some negatives that will make me not choose to stay there again: - the owner sent correspondence emails to an incorrect address, meaning I arrived blind. - booking for 3 nights I expected there to be enough firewood for the entirety of my stay. However, only 2 nights worth of wood was provided, and any additional firewood needed to be purchased separately. - cleanliness: passable, but quite a few cobwebs - kitchen reasonably well stocked, but missing lids for most saucepans - the "welcome" information was not particularly welcoming. Rather, it was quite prejudicial that guests were out to steal or break items from the accommodation. The tone was that guests were a bit of an imposition! Having said that, I enjoyed my time, but would have preferred not to have had those surprises.

The property was advertised as rustic, but it smelt very musty & wet. The carpet under the coffee table was filthy. There were not any comfortable seating areas including the couch and table inside, except on the front porch. We were unable to lock or close the front door because the wood had rotted around the latch. We came back to a day out and the front door was wide open.Teflon frying pans all were losing Teflon. We were unable to put the tarp back on the fire pit as it just ripped the existing holes even bigger. A hammock out the back was just lying like junk.Positive, was breakfast and clean sheets and quilt on the bed. The toilet was clean and also flushed well. There was good hot water and water pressure. The area was also superb. We left a night earlier because of no comfortable seating. We contacted the property manager as soon as we left so someone could come and fix the door, she didn’t seem to worry that the door didn’t close, the smoke alarm was not on the ceiling and it was on a shelf etc. etc. The response was how much money they spend.

Thank you for your feedback, Felicity. I’m sorry Cathy’s Cottage was not the right fit for your stay and that you decided to leave early. When you contacted me about the front door, I was in Switzerland but I immediately asked my sister, who lives on the property, to come across and check it. I’m sorry the door caused concern, and we will review this along with the other maintenance points you raised. Cathy’s Cottage is described as a rustic country cottage on a rural property, and many guests choose it - and return multiple times - for its peaceful bush setting, privacy, enclosed dog-friendly courtyard, combustion heater, breakfast provisions, hot shower, and comfortable bed. That said, we understand that expectations and comfort needs vary, and I’m sorry the sofa and layout did not suit you. Thank you for acknowledging the clean linen, hot water, good water pressure, breakfast provisions, and superb location. We appreciate all constructive feedback and will continue maintaining and improving the cottage for future guests. - Beverley
