The outdoor living room has an expansive view of the surrounding mountains.
I was once asked "Is that REALLY the view?" I responded, Yes, and there's more"

About this property

"I didn't think images of the view were real. I arrived & was brought to tears."

Hi, solitude seeker.

Before you get started, please watch the video link for Raydio Ridge listed on this site. It relates a perfect description of this home, and its lofty perch on the Highlands-Cashiers Plateau. Life is better above 4,500 feet!

"I don't want to be in town. I don't want to be in a gated community. I wanted privacy, seclusion, and golden silence. I want gravel crunching under my tires, as I leave the insanity behind. I want countless stars overhead, and the sweet smell of Mountain Air. I want Raydio Ridge, EVERY TIME!" An entry from my guest book.

Raydio Ridge is the perfect escape for a couple, a group of friends, or an adventurous family.

Raydio Ridge is located just below the ridgeline of Big Ridge Mountain in Glenville, NC. Just 15 minutes from Lake Glenville, the "cabin" may be the perfect mountain escape. With an open floor plan, and "wall of windows", that allow the surrounding panoramic mountain views to pour inside the home.

The majestic long-range views are enhanced by a secluded, private setting. Intimacy, and quiet were of the up-most importance when I envisioned this escape. That noted, the sound system with speakers, both indoors and out can be the perfect addition to your "lively", yet tranquil mountain experience. Simply download the Sonos App, and you're the DJ.

Thanks to Starlink, the home is wired and ready for all of your devices.

The home has recently been equipped with an automatic generator, ensuring your power will not be interrupted during your stay. Power outages in the mountains can occur more frequently due to high winds, and downed trees. At Raydio Ridge we'll keep the lights on for you.

The kitchen appliances have all been upgraded. The new, locally crafted kitchen cabinets, island, and bar are the perfect additions. Thank you, Bob Good for your artistry and craftmanship.

Three comfortable bedrooms, all with new mattresses await you! There are two king size, and two twin beds, providing ample space for six. Sheets and towels are provided! The floor plan is open and gracious, accented by comfortable furnishings, appointments, and art. Indoors or out, there is plenty of seating with breath taking, expansive views. Three outdoor seating areas provide plenty of options. From the covered side porch, to the outdoor living room, you'll find a welcoming spot!

Smoking is prohibited indoors, but a fine cigar is encouraged on the deck...or whatever puff-n-stuff makes you happy.

From Raydio Ridge, you are just minutes away from boating, hiking, dining, shopping, fishing and entertainment venues.

Start your morning on the covered side porch, with a fresh cup of brew, (French Press, Nespresso and drip options are provided) and greet the day with our feathered neighbors who make Raydio Ridge home. Bird seed is provided so that you can keep our friends well fed. BUT PLEASE....bring the feeders in at night!

Named after my father, Ray, and the business that helped me build this retreat... Raydio Ridge is not just a vacation rental, this is a home. A peaceful retreat. A place unlike any other. You will arrive and never want to leave. Or so I have been told...

NOTE - The home is located on a gravel road. The road is very navigable, but I always want guests to know that the privacy of this place requires "getting off the beaten path". If you leave on asphalt, and arrive on asphalt, you're not in the mountains! SUV's, and cars of all sorts make the journey up this mountain, but I would hesitate to bring a Porsche, or Ferrari. Though, one intrepid full time resident drives a Corvette up and down the mountain almost daily.

So, if you are ready for an authentic mountain escape, complete with all the comforts of home, Raydio Ridge is worth your consideration. Truth is, if you're not there, I will be.

Remember, even in the summertime, pack your FALL clothing. At Raydio Ridge, the nights are crisp, and the days are cool. A pull-over, or a sweater are always in season at Raydio Ridge, especially at night.

Maximum capacity is six (6) people. You must be at least 25 to rent this home. Reservations made under false pretense will result in a stern lecture from my Mom, immediate eviction, and forfeiture of any funds paid. Ouch! :)

Host profile image
I have been coming to these mountains since the mid-70's, when my father would pack our family up, and escape the summer heat, for a week or two on Big Ridge Mountain. I completed the home in the Summer of 1999, and have enjoyed sharing it ever since. This place is to be cherished and enjoyed...by you.

Why they chose this property

The property had been in my family since the 70's. After my fathers passing in 1983, I took over the responsibility for this 2.5 acre tract. In 1998, I was finally able to break ground, and build this amazing escape. Raydio Ridge is named, in part, after my dad...Ray.

What makes this property unique

The view is breath taking...stunning, and you are only minutes away from the most amazing lake in the region. Lake Glenville's 25 miles of shoreline, provide ample opportunity to boat, tube, swim and explore. Boat rentals are available at the foot of the mountain at Signal Ridge Marina. So is the lake!
