Cornish cottage 100m to the beach. (Portreath north coast near st ives)
Very quaint Cornish cottage, many original features & redecorated to a nautical / shabby chic style. Cosy in winter and cool in summer. 100m to a white sand & clear blue water beach, perfect for body boarding/swimming, rock pools for kids. Coastal path on your doorstep as well as great places to eat/drink. 20 mins to St ives and a short journey to the south coast. The house consists of 2 bedrooms, both with double beds, a bathroom including bath and over head shower. Gallery style well equipt kitchen, good sized living room including a double sofa bed. The conservatory doubles as a dining room. Ideal for a couple or family.
If you wait for the tide to go out at portreath beach there is a natural swimming pool in the rocks to the right and you can explore all the caves to the left.
There are lifeguards on the beach through high season.
For places to go we would recommend:
the little cafe on the beach for a snack/hot drinks/ breakfast bap etc, eating out at the Atlantic cafe, & Basset arms (they have a quiz night). The hub has bike hire and a delightful cafe, if you’re lucky you’ll catch one of their themed nights (ticket only) every 2 weeks through the summer. Portreath arms has recently had a makeover and looks amazing, food great. Best pasties are from the local bakery (sell out by lunch time) and there is a local shop 2 mins from the cottage & they do cash back. In porthtowen the blue bar is a great spot, in st ives - porthmeor cafe and blas burger are amazing. Carbis bay is a beautiful beach if you go to st ives & we normally park at the station. For surfing or a long walk - Gwithian beach is stunning. Trip to trebah gardens and helford river (stopping at the ferry boat inn) is a great day out. You can book a river cruise that picks up at the Budock vean hotel.

We enjoyed our stay, lovely beach , pub, bakers and convenient store all very close to property.lovely quiet town, with plenty of places to walk our dog.The house is a cosy little place, shower ceiling is a bit low, but wasn't a problem.would definitely recommend.
The house was just as we expected, small but perfectly appointed. The location surpassed all our expectations. Portreath has everything! The beach is just stunning and the natural rock pools are fantastic. The pubs, shops and takeaways mean you don’t have to stray too far if you are feeling lazy, but the location means you can jump on the A30 and visit anywhere in Cornwall with ease. Loved our stay.
Lovely cottage and a great location.
Comfy bed and reasonably well equipped
Could do with a bit of a clean up/refresh, a little
Tired in places but we were comfortable and enjoyed our stay, we are pretty low maintenance.
And would stay again

Thanks Sarah, for your review and feedback.
We have changed our cleaners as they no longer met our standatds and we wish the best for our guests. At the beginning of each year the cottage is also redecorated.
Had a really great little break here, excellent location, a short walk to beach and many other great places to visit by car nearby too. Cosy, lovely place and nice little garden too and overall very chill. Great that its pet friendly, I went with my dog who loved the beach Im glad we came in June when dogs are allowed on the beach (Check if you're taking a dog on what months they can go on beach)
Booked for a short break with dog, was a lovely spot. Really close to the beach and convienient for lots of local places for walks and days out. Would recommend.

Customer has confirmed this is meant to be a 5* review not 1*, we are waiting for vrbo support to update this.
This is a beautiful old fisherman’s cottage a stones throw from the beach which is a perfect base for a holiday in Cornwall. Portreath beach is less than 5 minutes walk away and there is a grocery shop and numerous places to eat out / grab a takeaway. The cottage is clean, well kitted out and
The cottage is compact, but was really well equipped and we had a lovely comfortable stay. Great to be able to walk down to the beach with our wetsuits on! Great food at the beach cafe, Portreath Arms and the local Chinese. Communication with the host was very good. I would thoroughly recommend staying here.

We are delighted you had a lovely time, also thanks for booking 2022, look forward to having you to stay again next year! Thanks, Lizzie x
House was great, close to the beach, pub and the local amenities- probably one of the best beaches for swimming or bodyboarding and the local rental shop were friendly and really helpful 👍 the local pubs are fantastic- Portreath arms serves excellent food in the restaurant or great pub food in the bar - and the Basset Arms is everything a proper pub should be ;) the cottage was the perfect base with its cosy private garden and flexible sleeping - also positioned perfectly for exploring the SW coastal path - the walk to Porthowan was superb and the Unicorn on the beach a great pub to stop and eat 👍👍👍

Hi Edward
Thank you very much for your review. We hare delighted you enjoyed your stay.
This cottage was very comfortable and the perfect location for exploring much of Cornwall. Portrearh itself has both coastal and forest walks to discover. The beach is perfect and offers lovely sunsets. A nice quiet neighborhood with charming bakery and lots of wonderful places to explore nearby. Little nearby seaside villages are loaded with character and also very close to Falmouth.
We could not have been happier with our choice of cottage!
We are a family of 5 (children are young and still happy to share beds!) and had a brilliant week at the cottage. It is small, but we had lovely weather so was great as a base. Lovely big sofa to relax on and we could all fit round the dining table. There was plenty of crockery, fridge space etc for a family.
The location was amazing. The beach was just down the road and what a beach it is! Lots of caves and rock pools to explore and beautiful sand for the children to play in. We loved Portreath and found it less commercial than other Cornish towns.
There is also a shop just up the road for basics, and a Chinese takeaway. It’s around 10 min drive to big supermarkets.
Very clean, host communication good, but advertising this property as sleeping 6 is a bit optimistic!! Its very convenient for beach access, but realistically this place is too small for a family with pre teen kids and 2 dogs. The photos are a bit misleading of how little space you actually have. Being a cottage, the low doors, small rooms and narrow doors/hallways are understandable . But, when you are 5’8 and still can’t stand upright in the shower because the ceiling is so low, have to climb over each-other to get to the other side of the bed, and go upstairs on hands and knees because they are so narrow and steep the novelty of this quickly wears off!
It was a nice stay in a quiet, neat surrounding, app. eight minutes walk to the beach. The cottage was sufficiently equipped for three adults. But we are sorry to say that it wasn´t cleaned properly: Dirt on the floor, hair on the bathroom floor, a lot of spider webs in the edges, the oven was very sticky and the fan above the stove was covered with dirt which made it unusable. The water kettle didn´t work. There are no plug-ins in the bathroom.
Nevertheless we enjoyed our stay very much.

Hi Thomas, thank you for your review. We have changed our cleaners as there were issues with the standard of their work.
Love Cornwall, always have which is why we keep visiting. We always book a cottage and try to stay local to a beach so our dog can have a good run about. Piskey Cottage is perfectly located for that. Any cottage serves as a base only and Piskey has all the amenities you wld need. Generally well kept but a bit more detail to the cleaning wldnt go amiss. The TV has subtitles stuck without the remote for the TV itself to be able to remove them. The washer dryer probably cld do with some attention to the panel as the buttons were a bit dodgy and whilst we managed to get it working there was often a fault light showing. Lets face it the cottage was fine as a base and serves our requirements.

Rather exasperated with this guest who appears to have flagrantly flouted our key house rule of NO SMOKING. Our Housekeeper notified us that the whole of the cottage smelled very strongly of cigarettes. Our next guest confirmed it was very strong on their arrival. We apologised and sent her a hamper to say sorry. In 19 years of owning this cottage we have never has such an incident. We have charged the guest the cleaning costs for the sofas, carpets and curtains, but they have offered only a small fraction of this amount and have now stopped communicating. Some basic consideration for other people would be welcome. Save yourself the hassle and please avoid hosting this guest if you are a non smoking holiday let. Otherwise no other issues.
This property is not fit for human habitation. Did not stay longer than it took me to call the owner and and get a full refund. Mould on the walls, thick black cobwebs everywhere and generally the most filthy place I have ever seen. Very filthy bedding and crockery. No central heating and so tiny with 4 people in the lounge there was no room for my dog. The freezer was so iced up you could NOT get the drawers open and it looked like the cooker had not been cleaned since the day it was installed.

Firstly, you have not stayed at our property. You requested a full refund which was issued without delay.
Secondly, you attempted to access the property during another customers stay and without our permission. Prior to cleaning. This is not permitted.
This review is malicious and false, we will take it up with vrbo. You do not have the right to access private property in this manner and be judgemental when you are not technically a guest at that time.
Do not accept bookings from this customer. 1* is too generous for them.
Thanks
Liz

Disliked: Cleanliness
9 Tage in Portreath

Hi Stefan, thank you for your review. Yes we have had quality issues with our cleaners where their performance has fallen below a decent standard and we have replaced them for next year 2024. Also due to regular wear and tear on the property from guests (we had a full and busy year) at the beginning of each year we have the place redecorated as well as all the electrical safety checks.
Property location are mins from the beach superb property needs a little TLC cleaners were still there when we arrived at 4 PM change over time Headroom in the shower /bath was difficult to shampoo ur hair and shower but a superb location The village and beach excellent

Thank you for the feedback. We have now replaced our cleaners as we want the highest standards for our guests.
Lovely little fisherman’s cottage that is very close to the beach and a short drive away from other amenities. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay - contained everything we needed. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Portreath is an amazing place. A hidden gem in Cornwall. Pisky Cottage is a nice and cosy place to stay. It is located very close to the beach and pubs. The locals are all friendly and the whole place has a nice calming spirit. I definitely will go back with my wife.
Cottage was in a great location for access to beach and tourist spots. Everything was there that we needed, a little chilly to start but we managed to sort out the heaters, although the conservatory was w little chilly in the morning. Overall a fantastic time.
