Beautiful home with an excellent location on the Great Pond. A kayaker’s delight. The only thing missing was a conventional coffee maker. French press and Melita only. But we had a wonderful stay.
We enjoyed our stay at this beautiful house immensely. We woke each morning to beautiful flowers and birdsong. The house is lovely, spacious and comfortable. We loved cooking in the large, light-filled kitchen, and there were multiple different dining locations - inside and out. Thanks to Sam for making sure we had everything we needed.
Our stay in the farmhouse was peaceful relaxing and serene. The house is well provisioned and met all our expectations and the owners responsive and accommodating. Situated in a small cove off the “long neck” of West Tisbury Great Pond, the location offers access to a deserted beach via a short boat ride. Boats are available to rent from a vendor who delivers it to you. The property abuts open space and a farm making for expansive skys And a wonderful natural setting

Sean,
Thank you for being such wonderful guests. We so appreciate how you took beautiful care of the house. I am so glad you took advantage of having a boat and getting the best out of the location. There is nothing like being out on that beach, especially at the end of the day. We would love to have you and Michelle back anytime!
Absolutely impeccably beautiful new light-filled house tucked away on a saltwater cove. It’s the most beautiful house we’ve ever rented, the owners designed and built it themselves. We went swimming every day right in the cove, we aren’t squeamish and loved it. Sunrises, chickens, farms in the backyard. Hammock and expansive grounds for finding a reading spot. Rent kayaks and paddle all over for sunrise and sunset, and to the beach! We had a 5-year-old with us who turned pro swimmer in the cove, perfect for learning how to swim. Lovely owner, very helpful. I cannot recommend this place highly enough.
Central to everything, peaceful and a great well appointed home. Sam and Kristian were very attentive hosts and gave us great information about places to visit and things to do. They have a wonderful property. We hope to return
If you are looking for peace and quiet in an absolutely lovely and super comfortable home this is it. The house has the feel of an "old" farmhouse, but it is new with a beautiful kitchen, new bathrooms, and plenty of room for us to all spread out. The property is on a cove off of Great Pond in West Tisbury, and we rented kayaks and used the canoe the came with the house. You can paddle out to the ocean beach or simply explore the coves right from the back yard. The owners are wonderful and the packet of information that Sam put together was invaluable. We took many of her recommendations including hikes, beaches, restaurants, and farmers markets. She lives on the Island year round and really knows what to do and what to avoid. The property sits on a horse farm and is adjacent to a flower farm; it's magical! It's off the beaten path but still accessible (by car) to everything MV has to offer. We loved our time in this house and the owners were welcoming, warm, and super helpful with suggestions. We could not have had a better rental experience!
We loved our stay here. It is an amazing hidden piece of paradise. The pictures do not do the house justice; much nicer in person! You can truly see the craft and love that went into building the place. The lake is super fun to paddle on and to take a trip out to the ocean and beach. One of the few more private beaches on the island. Sam and her family were very accomadating of our needs! Can't wait to come back.

Shawn was an incredible guest. He and his guests were clear with communication, were thoughtful with their care of the house and just generally great to have stay! They are the first guests that we have allowed to bring dogs and they completely followed through on keeping the property immaculate, even with three dogs!

Lovely getaway-from-everything
Fantastic house on a quiet piece of land. Beautifully done home (and it truly felt like a home, not a rental) set on a waterfront property. This is set away from all towns, so be ready for the sounds of geese in the mornings and crickets at night. Daily walks and kayak trips on Tisbury Great Pond, followed by lazy reading spells on the hammock and picturesque sunsets from the patio made for a truly restful week.
Owners were simply lovely, and any issues (minor ones) were dealt with promptly. They had wonderful recommendations for food and walks, and a wonderful collection of children's books for ages 3-10 (if not older). This rental was a delightful one in every aspect - thank you!

About the host
Hosted by Samantha Look
Sam's family has lived on this land since the 1800s. She went to school on the Island and college out in the world but has chosen to raise her family here. Her family deeply loves the Vineyard, their place on it and we are happy to share the lucky spot that we have with guests.
Why they chose this property
Sunsets bouncing off the pond surface and filtering light through the trees at the end of lazy summer days. Tree swallows circling in packs feeding in the hayfields in the evenings. The calls of herons in the morning and screech owls at night. Fireflies. Moonrise over the hayfields. Boat rides to beach picnics. Morning mist on the cove. Wildflowers. Space. Quiet. A truly special place.
What makes this property unique
Every detail in the house has been custom designed by the owners. Beautiful tilework in every bathroom. Spacious showers. Deep six foot tub. Chef's kitchen with views from every window and great counter space for making meals together. The house is full of windows and gets incredible light throughout the day, especially in the afternoon when the sun sets over the pond. If you leave the french doors open the lawn and pond feel like extensions of the house. Central location makes it easy to access any of the towns for shopping or a night out, or go absolutely nowhere and just lie in the hammock with a good book, have cocktails on the patio, explore the pond coves and look for blue herons, or paddle all the way out to the beach and enjoy one of the Vineyard's most remarkable beaches. Depending on the day you might even have the beach to yourself! Take a walk on one of the neighboring conservation properties, or walk up to town and have a decadent sandwich from 7a Foods after exploring the Farmer's Market. The house is so comfortable, on the water, tucked in its own magical corner off the beaten path yet not far from anything.
