Grandma’s Cabin, West Glacier riverfront kid/pet friendly, 1 mile from Glacier!
This one-in-a-million location has now become available for rental. Homesteaded in 1914, this peaceful rustic log home sits on the Middle Fork of the Flathead River. Gorgeous views of the west side of Glacier National Park, 30 seconds away, if you're a good swimmer! Just up river is Glacier View Golf Course. It is common to see wildlife pass through the property as they cross into Glacier National Park. This 1700sf log home provides cool temperatures in the summer, warm in the winter. Large picture windows surround the house to take in all the beauty. This location is so quiet, at night, you can hear the rocks being rolled down the river by the current. Secluded, but not remote- one mile from the Park entrance.
Guests have repeatedly said that photos do not do justice to the view. The majesty of the surrounding mountains puts into perspective just how small we truly are. It has also been said that getting in and out of the property is much easier than waiting in line to enter rentals within the park.
This is one of the few locations to rent in the winter. The surrounding mountains block out the wind, while delivering lots of snow. A great place to cozy up after a nice day cross country skiing.
While scheduling your vacation to Glacier National Park, be sure to check their website about reservations required to access Going ToThe Sun Road.

This is an awesome place to relax in West Glacier! The cabin had everything we needed and more. It was very cozy and comfortable. Even a campfire was made and ready for us to enjoy. It was very clean and the views were beautiful. Matt and Sue were great hosts!!!!! Thank you for sharing your grandmother’s home.

We were so glad you could enjoy your time in Montana with us. Hopefully you got your fill of huckleberries, since your stay coincided with picking season. Please come see us again.
We feel so lucky to have stayed in such a Gorgeous location. The family home was so clean and cozy! Matt and Sue are Amazing Hosts!!! The thoughtfulness was top notch. Has everything you need!
Our family had a wonderful stay at Grandmas Cabin. They literally had everything we needed including bear spray! The view from the cabin was breathtaking and we all agree pictures don’t do it justice. If you’re on the fence on where to stay I’d book here! Also, so convenient to GNP!

Thank you! We are so glad to have met you and hope our paths cross again!
Grandma’s cabin is a slice of paradise in West Glacier. Sue and Matt share a home filled with comfort, love, and beauty. The home is rich in family history and spirit. Four friends from the east coast enjoyed our entire stay and appreciated the close proximity to the park. Book this home. Go. You will love it!
This was by far the best VRBO we have stayed in. Very well supplied, comfortable, wonderful location and owners who were always available and absolutely concerned with making our stay in Grandma’s cabin totally awesome.

We were thrilled you chose our place to celebrate your mother birthday at. You were all such lovely ladies. If you come this way again, we hope you stay with us!
This was the perfect home for visiting Glacier National Park. Glacier is less than 10 minutes away and after a long day of hiking, the property offered grilling, camp fires and wonderful views. The owners shared stories of the home's history. You will absolutely feel welcome.

We loved having you and glad your son could fulfill his pyromaniac side in a healthy way. Would love to have you again!
Grandma’s Cabin is a special place. It was authentic, comfortable, and very clean. The owners thought of every little thing we could possibly want to make our stay easy and fun. The view out back was beautiful too. We really loved our time there!
We enjoyed GNP even though traffic and parking made hiking far away trails difficult.

We were so happy you could enjoy this beautiful place! We were so thrilled to see that your children were outside playing with all we offer. That’s exactly what we had in mind when we decided to rent out the cabin! Brought a smile to our faces!
This property is special and has truly magnificent views of GNP. The neighborhood was so peaceful and our hosts were gracious and helpful!
The kitchen is very well stocked and the home is extremely well cared for.
You are literally less than a mile from the entrance to GNP, 40 minutes from Whitefish and less than an hour from Flathead Lake.
We truly enjoyed our stay!

So glad you could come experience this beautiful place in the winter! We get a lot of snow, but it only adds to beauty!
We stayed for the second park of our Montana vacation. The view from this property’s back yard is amazing! It is private and relaxing. The west glacier entrance is very close and several quaint places to eat and shop nearby. The drive to Kalispell airport is quick too. We enjoyed our stay here very much and would recommended staying here!
This was by far one of the best bookings we've ever had with VRBO. Although Glacier Park itself is pretty crowded in August, we almost felt like we didn't need to leave the house property to enjoy our vacation. The house was phenomenally well equipped for cooking at home, even items such as pancake mix, whereas at some previous rentals we couldn't even find salt and pepper. The owners checked in with us regularly to see if everything was going well. ( They live across the street.) Considering that we had a four month old, a four year-old and four adults, it was very well suited to all ages. There were toys for the kids, which kept them thrilled, I had bought a kayak which we were able to put in a ways down the road and kayak right to the property, and the fire pit made the four year-old's first s'mores a real event! By the end of the week, people were already trying to make plans to come back. We also had a dog who we could not get into the car at the end of our stay as she was so happy on the property!

Jennifer and Michael, this is exactly what we aim for with every booking! The 4 year olds comment, “I’m gonna grow up here!”, was the best comment we’ve had all year. Hope to see you again!
This home is truly what it is listed as: Grandma’s Cabin. The location is just spectacular. The house is extremely comfortable. The kitchen has what you need. I didn’t want to leave. The hosts were sweet and welcoming.
This very cute cabin reminded us of spending time at our grandma’s house. It has some age but it’s extremely clean. The views are absolutely insane!! We had a great time enjoying the evenings in front of the camp fire in the back and watching the sun rise in the morning over the mountains. The cabin is just outside of Glacier NP and was close the the highway to get to our excursions easily.
This was absolutely the best stay we've ever experienced. The hosts love this place and it shows. Great location right near Glacier Park entrance in West Glacier. But the view from this cabin was beyond our dreams. We traveled with a dog and an elderly (104 y/o) aunt who uses a wheelchair. They both loved this spot too. Susan was very helpful, friendly and informative. It was very expensive-beyond our budget, really. But we do not regret the splurge to stay here. It was the highlight spot of our trip. Thanks for sharing this special place, Susan and Matt.

We are glad you enjoyed your stay. You were wonderful guests and we had fun visiting with you. We look forward to seeing you again!
It was such a treat to stay at this historic cabin in an ideal setting along the Flathead river so close to the West Glacier National Park entrance. The home is a time capsule with period furniture, surfaces, art. We enjoyed the record player, games, books, tv and outdoor games. The house is extremely organized, labeled and supplied with everything you may need. The outdoor space is perfectly planned with a firepit, front porch swing and spacious lawn. We are already planning our return trip! Thank you very much Matt & Sue for your gracious hospitality!

So happy to have you. I hope dogs Willow and Reagan enjoyed the place as much as the humans!
The hosts are the best. I came here with my mother-in-law, husband, and kids. They hosts provided everything we needed paper towels, garbage bags, soaps, towels, laundry soap, and even the makings for smores, and games for my kids to play. They came by the house and told us where to find huckleberries, sarvis berries were around the property. They also told us some of the can't miss places to check out in the park. Whenever we make another visit to Glacier National Park we will be planning on staying here. Thank you Sue and Matt for the great time.

Thank you for the kind comments. This is exactly the kind of experience we want everyone to have! We want to make Grandma’s Cabin your destination, as well as Glacier Park. We hope to see you again!
This may top all other stays. It had the best views, we saw bear, deer, grouse, eagles, and so much more, all from the yard of the cabin. The overlook of the river in the back and the sound of the water was as peaceful as you will ever find. The cabin's rustic charm made us feel like we were visiting the past, while enjoying the present amenities. This is the place to go if you're looking for some peaceful/relaxing time. The cabin is located less than 5 minutes to the entrance of Glacier National Park on the "Going to the Sun" road. We had the pleasure of meeting one of the managers, " Sue". She was extremely nice and very informative of things to do and places to visit in the area. GREAT PLACE!!!!!! Not enough words to describe the entire experience.

We’re so glad all the animals made an appearance while you were staying at the cabin! We know how important that can be for people visiting the area. It was wonderful to meet you and hope to see you again!
This property had everything we needed and the owners checked on us frequently. Nice view of the mountains and river. It was so peaceful! My kids were impressed there were games and movies at the cabin. The kitchen had all the things we needed to use. There was a grill and washer and dryer. The bath towels were fluffy and the bed linens were nice. The house was very clean. There were fans available to use in the rooms if needed. We would definitely stay here again if we ever wanted to visit glacier national park again!
No words to adequately describe other than breath taking!
We have traveled to many places but the view from this cabin rental is truly breath taking. The view of the flathead river and mountains as a back drop can be seen from the main living and dining area or from outside by the fire pit or bench/lounging chairs. We spent many hours just sitting outside reading, resting, and enjoying our view. The cabin decor is from the 60’s/70’s and brought back fond memories from my childhood but at least I could show my daughter how to use the record player. The cabin was extremely clean and well organized with everything so thoughtfully labeled. The cabin was well equipped and stocked; all the amenities provided and host also provided huckleberries which made for a delicious cobbler. The owners were very kind and helpful. We truly appreciated them sharing this family heirloom and history of the homestead. It was the most peaceful vacation we have ever had! We hope to be able to return someday.

Thank you for your kind words Gina. That is exactly why we rent out the cabin. We want others to enjoy the beauty and tranquility we have over the years. So glad it will be among your good memories! If you ever want to stay again, we would love to have you.
I was hesitant to spend more than my original budget but it’s 100% worth it for the location and amenities. Matt and his wife were always responding to my questions immediately. They even took the time to send me a long message with all the best places to visit.
The cabin is old fashioned but has anything you could need and more. It’s extremely comfortable and really is like staying with your grandma or your favorite relative. The location really is the best for two reasons. First the proximity to the park is perfect. No driving when you are tired from hiking and after driving thru the park all day. Second is the River!!! We spent almost as much time playing in and watching the River as we did in the park. My kids loved the River. And this was the only place we actually saw any wildlife. We didn’t see a single animal on any hike, but saw several deer, a black ear and bald Eagle all at the cabin.
Overall I can’t say enough great things about this place. Highly recommend it.

We are so glad you got the whole experience! The cabin is in a location where you can feel like you are a part of nature, not just driving by it. Your family used the cabin/river just as we hope to provide for families! If you ever vacation this way again, we hope you will look us up again! Thank you for your kind words.
My family and I stayed at Grandma's cabin for about a week and absolutely loved everything about it. It's a spacious cabin, roomier than the pictures let on, very comfortable, and well maintained. We loved the decor and the personal touches -- see the recipe for cornbread on the inside of the big cabinet! And the cabin was immaculate -- cleaning was outstanding - both the cabin and the grounds. All you can eat huckleberries (if you're there at the right time) since the cabin is surrounded by huckleberry bushes. Full kitchen, towels, grill, board games, tv, wash machine and dryer + more. Loved it! Location was great, remote enough to feel isolated without actually being too isolated. Within 3 minute driver to Glacier Park West entrance. View from the cabin is stunning although actually going down to the water is a bit of a challenge. Owners were absolutely fantastic and were a wealth of knowledge about the cabin's history. In fact, the history of the cabin is absolutely fascinating and the opportunity to stay in a cabin that had seen so much was really special. In sum, this is a wonderful place to stay: modernized but still with a lot of character, close to Glacier, and charming in and of itself. Would come back and would not hesitate to recommend to others.
