We strongly disagree with this review. No concerns were brought to our attention at any point during your stay, which did not give us the opportunity to address anything in real time. We are unclear why you were inspecting areas such as beneath a bedroom dresser, as this is not a typical or reasonable use of the space. Additionally, the listing clearly states that this rental does not include a dishwasher, which you were aware of prior to booking. The home was professionally cleaned and properly prepared before your arrival. Notably, the property was left in poor condition upon your departure; however, we chose not to charge any additional cleaning fees. Based on these facts, we do not find this review to be an accurate reflection of the property or the experience provided.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you experienced an issue with ants during your stay. During periods of rain, ants can occasionally seek shelter indoors. We did check our records and did not find any calls or messages regarding this concern while you were at the property. Had we been notified, we would have been more than happy to come by promptly to address the issue, clean the affected area, and place ant traps as needed. We apologize for the inconvenience you experienced and appreciate you bringing this to our attention so we can continue to improve the guest experience.

We respectfully disagree with this review, as several statements are not accurate. Regarding the lighting: the issue raised was not that the lights were non-functional, but that a specific lamp was not turning on. That lamp was plugged into a power strip and we advised the guest to ensure the power strip cord’s switch was in the “on” position so the lamp could be used for reading a map that the guest wanted. The lighting in the cottage was otherwise fully operational, as was the lamp Regarding heating: the cottage is equipped with electric baseboard heaters in both bedrooms as well as an additional heater in the living room, which together provide sufficient heat for the space. There are instructions on how to use the tv inside the information booklet We believe it is important for future travelers to have an accurate understanding of the cottage and its amenities, and we stand by the condition and functionality of the home during this stay.

Brett, Thank you for your review. Some vacation-rental owners enjoy decorating their homes for the holidays, and this owner is one of them. Most of our guests truly appreciate the festive touch. To clarify for future guests, the village where this home is located has just three streets and is only about a two-block walk to the beach. There are no nature trails in the village, nor do we advertise any. What we proudly offer is convenient access to the beach. We hope you enjoyed your stay at the beach.

We would like to address a couple of points for the benefit of future guests: Regarding your comment about the neighbors “not being happy you were staying in the house,” we’d like to clarify that the surrounding cottages are not full-time residences—they are either second homes or vacation rentals. Additionally, we have never received any complaints from previous guests regarding the neighbors in this area. As for your mention of the Wi-Fi being hacked, this was indeed a verified incident confirmed by our internet provider via email. Additionally, we note on our website that we cannot guarantee uninterrupted Wi-Fi service due to coastal weather conditions. As hosts, we believe in transparency and felt it was important to respond to your comments to ensure future guests have a clear and accurate understanding. Linda
