Hi Maria, It was just brought to my attention that my initial reply to your review did not go through. I am sorry that your group was not happy, with your stay last August. In all fairness, the days your stayed were all rainy and the temperatures were below average. My home is small, and I too would not want to be there with 4 adults and two children, if the weather was bad and had no plans in case of rain. All the Best, Geri

Hi David, I am sorry that you and your family had issues during your stay, Most of the issues that you had, I thought were addressed beforehand when I checked you in and are mentioned in the welcome book. I am unsure what smell you are referring to? There is the natural smell that comes with being on the bay. The house was professionally cleaned a few hours before your arrival, as it always is between guests. As seen in the photos, my house is not large and does not have separate wings. The AC units in the house and the fans are placed to keep the entire house cool, including the bunkbed room. I specially reviewed that all windows needed to be shut, and both AC units run for the bunkbed room to stay cool. In addition, there is the Oscillating Stand Fan, with multiple options to direct air the way that you prefer. I should have suggested that you use this in addition. Regarding the pull-out sleeper, this is also cleaned, pulled out, and checked between Guests to ensure there are no issues and there were none before your arrival. I personally, was there,i when the sleeper was opened and vacuumed. I ask that children do not jump on the bed, because it was broken last summer by young adults jumping on it. I had the springs and pieces replaced, at my own expense, for a $1500. Sleeper couch that was only a year old. If there was an issue with the sleeper, you should have called me and let me know as I would have had someone look at it. Your lease agreement states: “Removing, adding or changing furniture without Owner’s written approval shall be deemed a material breach of this Rental Agreement and is strictly prohibited”. After looking at the sofa bed, this weekend we saw no added supports underneath and it was fine for an adult to sleep on, so what are you saying that you repaired? You stated that the house was in poor condition - my house is old but almost all the appliances, TV, furniture, screen doors and fixtures, were bought within the last two years NEW. A house that sits by water is in constant repair due to the salt air . I contacted the guests that stayed, in the house after you and there was no cricket problem in the house, so I am also confused by the infestation that you are referring to. We saw a few crickets outside, in early Aug due to the high grass next door (now cut). I stayed for 5 days before your arrival and had no issues. My home was exterminated in early Aug. Again, I am sorry that you didn't enjoy your stay.

Surekha, First off let me say that I am sorry that the size of the house didn’t live up to your expectations, you are the first person to have mentioned this to me, as past renters have said that the pictures and descriptions are pretty accurate. I personally was extremely disappointed in the way my house was disrespected. You lied about how many people were staying in my home, broke items, didn’t follow the contract in making sure everything was washed, and somehow some of my items are now missing. You stated that 3 adults and 2 children were staying, when there were 4 adults and 3 children, and I did not charge you for the extra people. You did bring your own linens, but it was also clear that you used some of mine. I immediately noticed the top bunk sheets were used, the extra sheets in my cabinet, the hand towels and dish towels I left were all left unwashed. I have no problem if guests use these items, but as I have made it clear in the rental agreement and description before booking, I kindly ask that everything used is washed and returned to its place. I have a sofa cover that I wash between stays to keep my home clean for renters, the cover is now missing. I also leave a basket with toiletries in case my renters forget something, the basket, that was filled prior to your stay, is also missing. As far as the pull-out sofa, you mentioned to me that you could not get it open, so I had my daughter stop in to show you how to open it. It was when she got there, she noticed it was broken, which is something you failed to mention when contacting me along with the fact that you had opened it. I offered you a queen blow up mattress and you did not want it, rather you chose to sleep on the floor. In addition to the sofa, one of the shades return mechanisms was also broken. You stated that it happened during a storm, but I have never seen that happen through the 25+ years and many storms I have seen come through the house, that usually happens when the shade is pulled on too hard. I take the time to make sure I greet every renter and show them where items are to try and make their stay as relaxing as possible. I also check everything thoroughly between rentals to make sure I know who is responsible for what in case we end up running into issues like this, which unfortunately is the reality with some renters. I kindly ask that renters leave my home the way they found it, you left it with the pots, pans, and dishes in new random spots, the coffee pot left with grinds, and sand all throughout the house. As you mentioned, I didn’t refund you due to all the items listed above as well as the breaking of the rental agreement. Everything about my home is clearly described before someone decides to rent, and you are the only renter I have had this summer that was unclear to, I hope next time you rent someone’s home you leave it in better condition.
