After our Guests have taken the feel in of Greater Hyannis, we encourage them to strength out and visit our beautiful neighbor islands, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket. You can walk to Hyannis Harbor from the home and save yourself a parking fee. The Steamship Authority does transport vehicles between Hyannis and Nantucket; this service is available year round. Seasonally, the Authority also provides high-speed catamaran service between Hyannis and Nantucket aboard its Iyanough from mid-April to early January. Hy-Line Cruises also runs its spanking new high-speed, 494-passenger catamaran Grey Lady IV to Nantucket year round.
Seasonal visitors who prefer to visit Martha’s Vineyard from Hyannis may do so aboard Hy Line Cruises’ Vineyard Lady which runs between Hyannis and Oak Bluffs from early May until the end of October. Thereafter, visitors wishing to sail to the Vineyard must trek about 30 miles to Woods Hole village to take one of the Steamship Authority’s ferries to Vineyard Haven, which transports both foot passengers and vehicles year round. Alternately, the Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority provides regular SeaLine buses from Hyannis Transportation Center, Cape Cod Mall or West Main Street, Hyannis to Woods Hole Steamship Authority dock for Martha’s Vineyard ferries.
And although ferry companies love having people on board as passengers, many visitors love strolling along Hyannis Harbor while watching its signature seagoing vessels come and go from the Harbor or watching them approach the relatively narrow channel leading to the Harbor from one of Hyannis’ beautiful Nantucket Sound beaches — Kalmus, Veterans, Keyes or Eugenia Fortes Beach.
In season, Hy-Line Cruises also features a popular hour-long and fascinating fully-narrated Hyannis Harbor Cruise. Passengers hear the history of Hyannis and local area landmarks on their voyage to view the historic Kennedy Compound in Hyannisport. Along the way, other points of interest include Great Island, the Kennedy Memorial, Egg Island, St. Andrews-by-the-Sea church, Squaw Island and Point Gammon Lighthouse. Kids ride FREE on morning trips all season!
The horns, the excitement of passengers coming and going plus the sheer size of these vital ferries impress people of all ages especially those who do not live by the sea!

House was close to Main St Hyannis (10 min walk). House was roomy and very accommodating for a family of 5 or more. Easy to get to and close to all attractions and ferry to Martha's Vineyard. Dog friendly home.
We had a great stay in John’s lovely house on the Cape! We had so much fun for the 4th of July weekend. It was a great location, walkable to town with great shops and restaurants. A lovely beach down the road and the space was everything we needed! Great backyard for hanging out playing yard games and grilling. John was super communicative and kind, getting into the house was a breeze. I would definitely recommend staying in this house with friends or family!
Location! Location! Location! A pleasant walk to Main Street shopping and restaurants and a short drive to Kalmus Beach. We couldn't have been happier with the cottage. It was neat as a pin and had everything we could want for a comfortable and definitely relaxing stay. The fenced in backyard was a huge plus for our dog and she loved Kalmus Beach. Will recommend to friends!

We absolutely enjoyed having you as our Wonderful Guests! Thank you for being so pleasant!! 🙂
The house looked pretty my as was pictured until you noticed how old and outdated everything is. We refused to cook because of the condition of the pots and pans. The beds and furniture were not comfortable at all. To top it all off we were hit with an almost $700 damage fee which should only have been for a lamp which we did break. I would never go back to this property agaiin

Cape vacation
Location is ok walking distance to Main St, Hyannis is very convenient. Property is in fair condition could use some updating of furnishings and basic kitchen tools. Beds are in need of replacing as well as living room couches. Seating for 4 and a picnic table is ok but would be great to have additional seating in the yard for the firepit. Also it would be good to let renters know that beach parking is $25 a day without a weekly pass.

Thank you for your feedback we've replaced the beds and couches 🙂 also added more seating in the backyard!
Not all beaches are $25 a day for parking! There are several beaches in the area near the home that are accessible without parking fees!
Great location to downtown and all the other locations for our daughters wedding weekend events. Clean, cute house with everything you needed. Although a bit dated the house suited our needs well. Back deck was nice to hang out on and relax.
Great little vaca! Communication with rental company was on point and we felt very comfortable there :)

Why they chose this property
The town of Barnstable on Cape Cod is divided into 7 villages, the largest of which is Hyannis. Hyannis is the gateway to the area and, if arriving by plane, train, bus or boat, it is likely your first stop in town. The town is best known as the presidential getaway for the Kennedy clan who spent any available downtime at the family compound in Hyannis Port. The best way to see their stately homes is from sea aboard the Prudence, an old-time Maine Coastal Steamer circa 1911. Hy-Line Cruises organizes a 1-hour sightseeing cruise past the Kennedy compound. But you don't need political family ties to appreciate what drew this iconic American family to the region. The town of Barnstable, and Hyannis in particular, is beloved by travelers for its laid-back atmosphere and friendly vibe. And then there are the beaches. In Hyannis, Kalmus Beach is a popular spot for windsurfers with a constant breeze and good waves coming in from Nantucket Sound. The large beach is divided into 2 sections to safely keep swimmers and windsurfers out of each other's way. Keyes Beach is a family-friendly spot with soft, clean sand. The picnic tables and snack bar make it easy to grab lunch and return to the beach for more sandcastle-building fun. Veterans Beach is another convenient family beach and also the home of historical shrines honoring John F. Kennedy and the Korean War Memorial. In West Barnstable, Sandy Neck Beach is the longest in the area with 6 miles of pebble sands including off-road vehicle trails. All of these spots boast full beach facilities and lifeguards for safe swimming. The town maintains an old-fashioned vibe that is a pleasant reminder of slower times. Climb aboard the Cape Cod Trolley for a slow ride around town. There's plenty to keep the little ones entertained including mini golf and a carousel on Main Street and loads of places to stock up on ice cream, snacks and penny candy at the Kandy Korner.
What makes this property unique
Mini buccaneers can indulge in some swashbuckling fun aboard an old-time pirate ship, the Sea Gypsy. You can also head out to sea for the ubiquitous New England whale-watching trip. Your guide will be happy to point out exactly what kind of whale you're looking at including humpbacks, finbacks or the North Atlantic Right whale.Hyannis is the largest of the seven villages in the city of Barnstable, Massachusetts. Also it is the commercial and transportation hub of Cape Cod and was designated an urban area as a result of the 1990 census. Because of this, many refer to Hyannis as the 'Capital of the Cape'. It contains a majority of the Barnstable City offices, and two important shopping districts, the historic downtown Main Street and the Route 132 Commercial District, including Cape Cod Mall and Independence Park, headquarters of Cape Cod Potato Chips. Hyannis is an highly important tourist destination and the primary ferry boat and general aviation link for passengers and freight to Nantucket Island. Hyannis also provides secondary passenger access to the island of Martha's Vineyard, with the primary passenger access to Martha's Vineyard being located in Woods Hole, a village in the nearby town of Falmouth. Due to its large natural harbor, Hyannis is the largest recreational boating and second largest commercial fishing port on Cape Cod, behind only Provincetown. The JFK Hyannis Museum in the old Town Hall on Main St. focuses on John F. Kennedy's time spent in the town. There is a memorial to President Kennedy on the Lewis Bay waterfront that was erected by Barnstable citizens in 1966. The memorial includes a fountain and a field-stone monument with the presidential seal and JFK inscription: 'I believe it is important that this country sail and not sit still in the harbor'. President-elect John F. Kennedy gave his victory speech on November 9, 1960 at the former Hyannis Armory, which is in the National Register of Historic Places.
