About this property
Secluded and Spectacular Views
The Silo
Set on 700 acres of wooded Hudson Valley real estate, The Silo is reached by crossing a bridge over a flowing stream (part of the intricate Hudson River watershed system). Though the home and property feel secluded, they are within easy driving distance to some of the region’s most chic, lively towns, such as Rhinebeck and Hudson.
Though The Silo has the feel of a converted antique barn, it is entirely new construction, steeped with delicious touches, from the rounded walls of the “silo” to the warm, wide-board flooring. The spacious rooms of this country home are flooded with light from soaring windows that face in all directions.
A big, family-style eat-in kitchen promises lively gatherings for meal preparation, casual dining, conversation, and games as you enjoy the views and the cozy warmth of the antique wood burning stove on winter days. Also on the entrance floor is a majestic great room—living and dining space perfect for holidays, lazy afternoons, or formal entertaining.
Bedrooms both upstairs and downstairs comfortably sleep 12. The downstairs bedroom has outdoor access through French doors, a sitting area and queen bed. This space offers maximum privacy to a young family. Upstairs, three bedrooms—one a cozy kids’ room full of twin beds, and two more large bedrooms with magical sunrise views.
The Hudson Valley boasts one of the longest fall foliage seasons in the country. The autumn colors paint the entire valley with rich warmth from September deep into October. When the winter snows fall across the landscape, take out your snowshoes and experience the drifting silence of the woods under its white mantle. In summer, enjoy long days in nature and leisurely evenings around the giant firepit, or watch a summer storm sweep in across the rural landscape.
The property and the entire region feature majestic scenery and hiking, bike trains, local farms, shopping, museums, historic homes and sites, golf, lakes and hidden swimming holes, theater and music festivals and venues, and opportunities to ski, downhill or cross country.
Please note that the garage has an efficiency apartment (The Nook) that can be rented with The Silo for additional guests at a discounted price. It is also available for private rental of 1-2people. If rented, they do not have usage of the rear slate patio or firepit/grill area. We do provide a table for two on the porch of the Nook and private parking around the back with separate picnic table and grill.

Big spacious house with large indoor and outdoor gathering spaces. Nice big tables for board games and great kitchen layout for cooking together as a family. Beautiful surroundings, we even saw a double rainbow. The small bedroom in the silo is a hidden gem.
Great stay on a gorgeous property in a beautiful town. We had a mix of kids and adults and all enjoyed our time. Host was very communicative and provided all details prior to arrival.
Could not have gone much better. The place is lovely. Plenty of space indoor and out for our whole group to gather but also nice little nooks for smaller conversations. Whole family had a great time. Super clean, chef kitchen, huge yard for frisbee and bocce.
Beautiful property, great host, can't wait to return!
Property's beauty far exceeded expectations. Loved the quiet and stunning views. Home and grounds were well-maintained which meant for an easy and enjoyable stay. Host was responsive before and especially during stay. Put this home at the top of your list, you wont be disapointed!
The property was everything we expected and more. The home is first class. The views are stunning. I would highly recommend for a family gathering. Mary is an attentive, excellent host.
Every detail of this property is outstanding. From the sublime setting to the details, both large and small, of this house. Our host was communicative in all ways one might expect or hope for. Our family gathered together here from far points for a large wedding. So much fun to wander the fields, loll in the Kitchen area, primp ourselves up for the festivities, sleep in luxurious comfort. Only wish we could have stayed longer. Thank you.
My bridal party and I rented two of Mary's properties for the weekend of our wedding, and we couldn't have been happier. The house was absolutely gorgeous, and the setting was perfect. The views were unbeatable. The sunny little room at the top of the silo isn't in any of the photos on the listing, but was the best room in the house. Mary graciously allowed my bridesmaids and I to get our hair and makeup done onsite and to have our photographer come by to document the morning, too. We really couldn't have had a better experience!
We very much enjoyed our stay at this gorgeous and unique property. The views are truly spectacular and we spent lots of time sitting and playing outdoors. (We would have loved a bit more outdoor furniture - sofas, umbrellas, lounge chairs, etc., to make the most of the scenery). However, the fire pit was a huge hit with our children, as was the entire home. Our dog also had a ball and we appreciated the fact that he was able to join us on the trip.
One thing to add: We would have liked prior notice of the fact that the Nook (above the garage property) could possibly be rented out as well. It was not clear at all from the listing on vrbo and we did not learn of this fact until we had arrived at the property. With that said, it worked out fine with the other people (whom also brought a dog), but advance notice would have been appreciated.
Thanks so much for having our group. We were able to give our sons an amazing send off before overnight camp. Great family memories were made at your lovely home and we hope to come back again.

Thank you for your response and comments Stacy. It is always helpful and appreciated to know how to make our guests stay better. You definitely make good points. This is our first year, so we are working on improvements as we go along that will help make our home more comfortable for everyone.
So glad you were able to enjoy otherwise and we hope to see you again.
Best, Mary & John
This home is not only stunning but setting is incredible. So beautiful and private. The house is equipped with everything you need to celebrate with friends and family. We really had a great time! Thank you!
The house was fantastic, and the property was more beautiful than we thought, we were so pleasantly surprised. Mary gave a great recommendation for Pine Plains catering to the house and was easy to communicate with. 10/10 reccomend
This property is just beautiful inside and out. The home is so cozy and clean with amazing light and room for all, and the views will knock your socks off. We were a group of a few young families and our kids loved the space to run freely and visit with the cows, and the parents loved the chance to enjoy a cup of coffee on the porch in the morning and a glass on wine on the lawn in the evening while taking in those awesome views. Mary was a great and responsive host and we alll hope to be back soon!
Beautiful house surrounded by rolling hills and farmland. A wonderful and peaceful retreat from the city. Lots of things to do. Hiking, bicycling in Kingston on the old rail line, visiting the many towns along the Hudson River. Wine tasting etc...
The home was beautiful - well cared for and very clean. It was just a getaway for 48 hours but all went smoothly and the house manager was very communicative. All together great and we would be excited to return when it is better weather and we could be outside more.
