Lakeview Cottage - Rainbow Point Holiday Home

This original 1960s Kiwi Bach is situated on a private elevated section with a large garden area and beautiful north-facing lake views
The holiday cottage offers basic accommodation with two bedrooms. The master bedroom has a double bed. This bedroom has a beautiful outlook with 180-degree north-facing lake views. A second bedroom with a new double bunk bed, a queen bed on the bottom and a king single on top.

The shower has recently been modernised and gas-powered hot water has been installed to provide greater comfort to guests.

The high-ceiling kitchen and lounge area are open plan with stunning 180-degree north-facing lake views.

Private off-street parking is available behind the cottage.

The property is only a 1-minute walk to Lake Taupō across a reserve in front of the cottage. The beaches straight in front of the house are great for swimming and water activities. The Great Lake Walkway can also be accessed right in front of the house for walking and cycling alongside the lake.

Several other amenities are within easy walking distance such as Rainbow Point Dairy, Fish Box Takeaways and Ploughman's Restaurant (450 metres / 10-minute walk). Two Mile Boat Ramp is a short km away and the Sailing Club Bar and Restaurant 2-minute drive or a 15-minute walk along the lakefront.

This cottage is ideally suited to couples, families and small groups who are looking for a peaceful stay with beautiful views and basic accommodation close to the lake.

Terrible experience beware

When we arrived we couldn't get into the property as the lockbox code provided was incorrect. We were stranded outside in the freezing cold with our 5 year old at 10:00pm and they couldn’t get hold of the property manager to let us in. We were on the phone for over an hour. We then had to find a room in a hotel to stay the night, until we were then let in, the next the morning. It has been one week since this happened, and after multiple emails and numerous phone calls, they still are not responding, refunding me, or giving me any clarity in how they will resolve this issue. Their blatant disregard to their customers is appalling. Be warned. Do not book this bach.

Location fantastic! Batch needs an update of furniture. An outside table should be supplied. Shower pressure pretty bad. The view is amazing! Neighbour on the left driving up to the house lovely!! Gave us fresh venison and gives fresh trout caught from his boat!

Beautiful view but lacking

There were some issues with our stay. This place needs some upkeep and although it seems heirloom to the owners we don't have the same attachment and this view it on a totally different level. The place was tidy when we arrived but sub par rental for $$$ a night we would expect washer and dryer, updated kitchen and bathroom and a better heat source than a propane can heater that comes with a warning. It was a cute place with a nice view but that was the extent of it. Homeowners were lovely to deal with. Sorry for this review but at $$$ a night we feel we overpaid.

Small bach, well located on Lake Taupo

Ideal spot with beautiful views of the lake. Just a short walk to the lakeside walkway, which is great for running a dog and for children. Good for splashing in the water! Spoilt by no hot water on the first night and hopeless hot water pressure throughout the stay. Desperately needs an upgrade to a mains pressure hot water cylinder.

Great little basic batch for the family.

Clean and tidy, basic but suited our needs. Great location, quiet and close to the lake and walkway. Would definitely consider booking in the future for a longer stay.

Good experience but we really dont like the water system. Hot and cold water not mixing so we have to take extemly hot shower or ice cold shower. Need to fix it.

Great little bach

Bach was very tidy and despite the cold weather the two heaters heated up the main room nicely- would stay again, great views, good hand location to Taupo but also quiet and has a secluded feel

Location great, can see lake from house and walk there in less than a minute. Awesome classic kiwi-batch style. Clean and tidy with everything we needed. Excellent for family. Improvement could be made to shower rose to make water flow better. If you are taking your dog, note that the property isn't fully fenced so they need to be tied up outside.

This is a very basic traditional bach so feedback is relevant to expectations. Maybe time for some new mattresses in the bunk room but overall just what we needed. Location is superb with privacy and proximity to the lake. Great to be able to bring our dog and great to not have many 'rules' and restrictions.
