Well equipped cottage , with views from every window , great location with walks and cycling from the door .. had a wonderful break and will definitely be visiting again .
Lovely little cottage equipped with everything you could possibly need. Great warm welcome from the owners and it is in a lovely peaceful location although close enough to get to all the local towns and attractions. We had a great restful long weekend and our dog loved the big garden and enjoyed herself too.
The primary purpose of our visit was to row in nearby Lyme Regis gig regatta. Regrettably the regatta was canceled due to weather, however Summerleaze cottage and surrounding countryside became the highlight. Friendly and helpful hosts, well equipped cottage, beautiful location, all. made for a great stay. And dog friendly it was, with Bella welcoming ours to the lovely garden/farm setting.
We plan to return next year for similar regatta and will book same cottage.
We both enjoyed our time at the cottage immensely. The property itself is very homely and has everything you could need. The area was nice and quiet and full or wildlife (which was a big bonus for us) The location was perfect for visiting Devon and the surrounding area. You also have the added bonus of the families friendly dog and cat who might well pay you a visit or two (another plus point for us)
We enjoyed our stay at this cottage, we needed a peaceful break and got it there. It was very clean with everything you need. Trish and Phil were friendly and left some nice treats which was appreciated after our journey.
Very clean awesome location. Great place. Quiet peaceful location

Excellent cottage
Lovely property; super clean and well presented, and very comfortable! The cottage is clearly looked after by somebody who understands what you want from a holiday cottage, with excellent information and great additional touches. It's also much more spacious feeling than some of the photos might suggest.

Amazing cottage
We had a fabulous time staying at the cottage. The cottage itself was spotless and had everything that you needed. There were even some little extras such as a bottle of milk, a box of biscuits and a cold bottle of wine in the fridge! The surrounding area was lovely and we enjoyed exploring the east Devon coastline.
Trish and Phil were really helpful and friendly. Bella, the resident spaniel and Justin, the Peacock were lovely! We can't wait to go back.

Clean, warm and comfortable with everything you need.
The cottage is lovely. A35 is on your doorstep, giving easy access to surrounding coastal towns. Short walk through a field (if you don’t want to drive) to a fab farm shop for supplies, and local pub serving good food.
We were left a very generous ‘welcome pack’ by the owners, which was lovely. We’ll go back, which is always a good sign!
Note: there is no shower, just a bath, which is the only reason for 4 stars, not 5.

Most Enjoyable & Relaxing Holiday at the Cottage
We arrive at the cottage, the directions that Trish sent were excellent and Phil was there to greet us. The cottage was immaculately presented and all rooms were very clean. We have strayed in many self catering accommodations over the years, but I have to say that their cottage has been the most comprehensively equipped, it was like a second home everything you need provided, brilliant!
The location is very private, gardens are well maintained and with the resident peacocks(male & female) wandering around added to the tranquility.
Both Trish & Phil were friendly and helpful during our stay with their local knowledge of the area making our stay interesting
I would recommend any person wanting a quiet holiday to visit and we certainly re visit them again in the not too distant future
Best regards

Excellent comfortable cottage
This spacious and excellently furbished cottage was ideal for two people. Everything was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The location is quiet with very nice views over neighbouring fields. The owners were friendly and helpful. The cottage is situated conveniently for exploring the Jurassic Coast area, with many towns and villages within easy reach by car. It is a few minutes away from the A35 which allowed for fast access to other routes. Highly recommended for a peaceful getaway in a lovely part of the country.

Loved every minute
I’m writing this review on behalf of my father who stayed at your property last week ( he’s not very tech savvy ). I booked this short break for him and his wife and I know they loved every second. My dad text me every day telling me the places they had been which were easy to get to from the property. Some quotes from my dad in his messages were ‘ it’s so peaceful ‘ ‘’just great to relax’ ‘ the owners are lovely and accommodating ‘ ‘ lovely little place ‘ ‘ can hear the peacocks which is lovely ‘.
Great property with fantastic correspondence from the owners before and leading up to the holiday. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely cottage in convenient locatiin
Pretty and well furnished cottage in tranquil setting. Owners are friendly but also manage to not to impose. As well as providing some key essentials a few treats and even something for the dog made the stay special. It's convenient location easily makes exploring both Devon and West Dorset easy. The weather unfortunately wasn't great for us but the cottage was so comfy and the area so tranquil, we were actually happy just to chill out there. Would definitely stay there again.

Cosy and Charming Cottage in quiet rural surroundings - a wonderful place to unwind
Our trip to Devon/Dorset was the precursor to a major milestone birthday and the cottage fully met our needs. Cosy, quiet, clean and fully equipped. The bedroom was delightful as was the bathroom - which was beautifully decorated. Our hosts were very friendly and the treats such as the bubbly nicely chilled in the fridge were very much appreciated. The pet peacocks were a surprise especially the male, very resplendent in his full feathered glory! We also enjoyed getting up close to cows, sheep with cute lambs, Shetland ponies and donkeys on our way across the fields to the local hostelry for some great ale and basic but good pub food. The cottage is a good central location for various trips. A "must do" is a walk up Golden Cap - well worth the climb. Various National Trust properties are also close such as Montacute House - very interesting and worth a visit. For foodies, we'd recommend dinner at the Riverside Cottage Kitchen in Axminster. So in conclusion a very enjoyable and successful mini break with the cottage being a great contributor as a welcoming base.

About the host
Hosted by Mrs Patricia Taylor
We are Phil & Trish Taylor. We live near Axminster in East Devon. We have been running Summerleaze Cottage as a holiday home since 2006 and live next door, being on hand to answer any queries and offer advice.
Why they chose this property
We love East Devon for the beautiful countryside, nearby beaches, the peace and quiet and the ease of being able to reach major towns and cities.
