Cottage in Rye, Sussex, England - Within Two Miles Of Local Beaches, Historic Sites And A Wealth Of Other Attractions
The Artist’s Cottage is a beautiful Grade II listed building built in 1483. Located in the heart of Rye’s historic citadel area, this cottage is ideally situated for exploring the town and accessing the surrounding coast and countryside. Built in 1483, the cottage boasts a wealth of original features, beams and fireplaces – alongside newly refurbished kitchen and bathrooms. In recent history, the property has been owned by a string of artists - hence the name of the cottage - with an art gallery in the front room (now a modern games room). Looking further back, the beautiful arch on the wall of the main living room is thought to be the remains of an ancient bread oven! Rye itself is an endearing place. Whether you are looking for historic sites, local beaches, beautiful nature reserves, child friendly attractions, famous golf courses, romantic restaurants, delicious cream teas, or some of the oldest pubs in England, it could be for you.

About the host
Hosted by Rachel & Nick Turner

The Artist’s Cottage is owned and run by Rachel and Nick Turner and their family. We live in South London with our three young children and work as a counsellor (Rachel) and film/video maker (Nick).
Why they chose this property
We first visited Rye in a snowy February half term with our three young children and fell in love with the place. Renovating The Artist's Cottage has been a labour of love for the past year and we are really excited to be able to share this unique and charming property with others.
What makes this property unique
The Artist's Cottage is a large three bedroom cottage situated in the heart of the citadel area of Rye. We love the fact that it is a few moments walk from a wealth of nearby bars, restaurants, shops, cafes and galleries. The property itself is certainly quirky and full of character. We have tried to balance allowing the historic feel of the cottage with providing modern conveniences and a games room (for children and adults alike!).
