About this property
Beautifully restored Trulli with private 10x5 Metre Pool, Air-con and Wi-fi
Discover Trullo Floriana, just a few minutes drive to the renowned gastronomic town of Ceglie Messapica, yet set in the peaceful olive growing countryside.
A Beautifully restored and enlarged trullo offering both original features and charm along with the comforts and space of a modernised property.
The property has a large private pool, Aircon in lounge, diner and both bedrooms and WI-FI. For 2017 it will also feature a beautiful brand new outside kitchen with Wood burning Pizza oven, BBQ, sink and work surfaces and also a new patio laid under the vine covered terrace. It consists of -
A well equipped kitchen containing fridge, freezer, oven, hob, kettle, toaster and all the cooking and dining utensils you would need as well as an indoor stone pizza oven. With doors opening onto the covered veranda and also into the Lounge/Diner.
A comfortable Lounge with large leather sofa ( This is a sofa bed that can be used as such but access to the kitchen is through the lounge so would only suggest to close families or early risers!!), TV, DVD player and music system/docking station. A good selection of DVD's and books are available should the weather be anything less than perfect! A four seater dining table is located at one end along with a wood burning stove if needed for use early or late season. This room is air-conditioned with doors opening into the kitchen, into bathroom 1, double doors opening onto the covered veranda and a stone archway leading into the original Trullo, giving access to-
The first trullo cone which serves as a hallway, giving access to Bedroom 1, Bedroom 2 and Bathroom 2.
Bedroom 1 is a large, airy double room with a magnificent wooden double bed. The bedroom has authentic patterned floor tiles typical of the historic masseria of Italy. The room contains a large chest of drawers, clothes rail and under bed storage baskets, large built in cupboard, bedside tables with lamps and radio. This room is air-conditioned and has a large window.
Bedroom 2 is housed beneath 2 high trulli cones giving it a spacious feel. It contains 2 wooden single beds (can be pushed together to create a second double bed), a chest of drawers and bed side lamps and has wardrobe space built into an alcove. This room is air-conditioned and has double doors opening onto the covered veranda. Please note- A third fold up single bed can be supplied by the property managers, if required. Please check if available for your required dates.
Bathroom 1 has a Shower, Toilet, bidet, basin and also includes a washing machine and ironing board ( Normal practice to have the washing machine in the bathroom here!)
Bathroom 2 is at the end of the corridor leading from the bedrooms and consists of a bath with rain shower head, toilet, bidet, basin and heated towel rail. It is contained in a barrel vaulted ceiling lamia.
Directly in front of the exit doors is a large covered veranda with outside dining table and chairs for four, offering much needed shade in the height of summer. A perfect area to sit and eat lunch or to simply sip wine and relax!
Off to the right is a large vine covered gazebo which overlooks the pool, a charming shady spot with a further table and chairs and sunbeds ( or shadebeds!)
Adjacent to this there is also an outside woodburning pizza oven and BBQ and an outdoor toilet and shower room.
Steps lead onto the stone paved swimming pool area where a private 10m x 5m pool is waiting for you. The pool has built in steps leading into the shallow end and gradually slopes down to a deep end with ladder steps to exit. Further sunbeds are situated poolside for the sun worshipers. The pool is cleaned twice a week during your stay.
The grounds consist of multi-terraced, drystone walled gardens and cover 4500m sq. You are free to wander the gardens and when in season, help yourself to apricots, peaches, pears, plums, loganberries, figs, grapes, almonds, walnuts, grapefruit, clementines and lemons if you so wish or you can just take the few steps between front door and pool and leave it at that!
The property is at the end of a long gated driveway with ample secure parking for cars.
Just a few minutes drive towards Ceglie Messapica, before the level crossing, you will find your nearest Cafe which also offers fresh pastries every morning, both sweet and savoury and snacks including sandwiches and calzone in the afternoon.
Ceglie Messapica is renowned in the region for its many restaurants to suit all budgets from cheap tasty pizza to a restaurant that boasts a Michelin Star. It has a beautiful old town and there is nearly always some kind of show on one of it's many squares throughout the summer months. Check out it's market on a Saturday morning.
Ostuni - less than 20km away and very popular with tourists as it has had the best coverage in the UK Press. "The White City" sits high upon the hill with its meandering old town and fantastic views out to the coast and is well worth a visit.
Martina Franca - is a must visit with a big market every Wednesday morning. Beautiful Baroque architecture is on display throughout the pedestrianised section of the old town with many restaurants, cafes and gelaterias.
Alberobello - The UNESCO protected old town is unique. The only town of Trullo houses you will see anywhere in the world. Well worth a visit but be aware of the coachloads of tourists in August!
Other towns nearby and worth a visit include Locorotondo and Cisternino. A bit further afield but worth visiting are Polignano a Mare for it's stunning cliff top old town, Savellitri for it's beach side restaurants specialising in seafood, Lecce for it's architecture and Matera to step back in time.
The Adriatic coast is just 20km away, with reputedly some of the best beaches in Italy. From Torre Canne through Rosa Marina, Torre Santa Sabina down to Torre Guaceto there are many public and private beaches. The coast on the Taranto side, while a little further, has very beautiful sandy beaches and a much more undiscovered feel. From Campomarino down to Porto Cesareo you'll find some lovely stretches.
