Stunning riverside location in National Trust village in Exmoor.

‘The Pack Horse’ is situated in the unspoiled, picturesque National Trust village of Allerford, alongside the shallow river 'Aller' and the famous 'Pack Horse Bridge' from which the property derives its name. Paths and bridleways give immediate access to beautiful surrounding countryside.

The Pack Horse offers a choice of holiday accommodation: We have three apartments, each sleeping up to three people, a suite and a cottage each sleeping up to 4 people.

Each accommodation is self contained with fridge, electric cooker, microwave oven and smart television. Bed linen and duvets are provided, and towels are provided if required.


The apartment has an open plan Lounge/kitchen and diner.
There is a king size room.
The bathroom has a walk in shower, WC and wash handbasin.
Although we have a strict cancellation policy we will look on individual basis if you should need to cancel .

Excellent accommodation, highly recommended.

We were pleased with the property we had booked; it was clean and well-appointed, and very well-prepared for us. The Pack Horse is in Allerford, a lovely village in Somerset, with lots of great walks straight from the property, it was ideal for us: lots of fresh air and exercise as well as having ample, safe, on-site parking, so it was easy to relax into our holiday. We highly recommend The Pack Horse, and our accommodation, Wisteria.

Simply lovely

We stayed in Wisteria during the first week of September. Brian and Wendy greeted us with a delicious cream tea upon arrival and quickly showed us round what was to be our home for the week, before leaving us to settle in. What wonderful hosts! Always present, helpful and friendly, but never intrusive. Our apartment was small, yet totally functional for two in separate beds + a small dog. The accommodation is fitted out with quality furnishings and the most comfortable beds! We both slept like logs all week and enjoyed lazy evenings on the comfy sofa. The location of the property was perfect for us. Although conveniently close to the A39, there was absolutely no traffic noise at any point. Allerford is a small, rural community with fabulous country walks directly from the property. Porlock and Minehead are both a short drive away where you can find anything you want. This was a perfect base for exploring Exmoor and North Devon and we will definitely be back! It’s no surprise that the majority of Brian and Wendy’s business is built around return visitors, because this truly is a treasure of a find. Thank you both for making our week special and I look forward to coming back next year x

Stunning location. Lovely owners. Great for a walking holiday.

Beautiful property, the most relaxing place we have ever been to. Lovely owners, very clean room. Perfect for a walking holiday, area and beaches not great for children as not much to do, or open. We travelled to Woolacombe which was lovely. This stunning location is 100% for adult walkers, with active dogs that love to walk and explore. Beautiful and peaceful.
