Perfect nostalgic getaway. Cozy cottage had everything you could need. Lots to do in the area but I would have been content to just take in the pond view and listen for the loons. We really didnt want to leave! Hope to return.
The cabin was just as we expected. We wanted peace and quiet and it was just what we were looking for. Nestled in the woods with a waterfront view it was truly perfect. Away from the crowds of Bar Harbor but close enough where it’s no problem to drive into Acadia or Bar Harbor. We also enjoyed seeing some of the more local sights. Stanwood Wildlife Sanctuary was wonderful in Elsworth and Fogtown Brewery had yummy pizza! We enjoyed the kayaks, canoe, and paddle board daily! We had a family of otters greet us a few mornings. Mike was an exceptional host! He was always quick to respond to any questions we had. We really couldn’t have asked for a better stay! Recommend 100%
Exactly what our family was looking for. A quiet lakeside getaway close to Acadia. Cabin was rustic and clean. Lake was gorgeous. We will definitely be back.
My parents and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. We spent 2 days and 3 nights here during our trip to Acadia National Park. We couldn’t have chosen a better place for our stay. It was in a beautiful location, right on the water. My dad and I had our coffee out on the dock every morning. If we ever make our way up to Maine again (we’re from Saratoga, NY), we will definitely be looking to stay here.
Charming rustic cabin in the woods, right on the lake.
Incredible location right on the lake. Listing and photos do not do it justice. Loved our 3 night stay here. Sunny early Fall weather meant we could swim in the lake, canoe and kayak with supplied boats (inc lifejackets if needed). Good sized wooded garden leading down to lake. Cabin was a good size and charmingly rustic, queen bed a little soft and lumpy and sofa also a little old, but didn’t detract from a well kitted out cabin in the woods, wood burning stove for chilly evenings and roasting smores on the fire pit outside, beautiful sunrises l, loved the private “island” rock to sunbathe on and easy access to Acadia National Park, would definitely recommend.

In need of new mattresses and a cleaning
While the location was amazing and we really enjoyed swimming around the boulders, the house left much to be desired. The mattresses were intolerable. They should be thrown out. The house was dirty. Dirt and cobwebs. I found mouse poop in the silverware tray, ants in the house and there was even a small mushroom growing in the bathroom.
This place could be amazing, but it needs to meet the basic requirements of providing a comfortable bed to sleep upon and a clean and well-appointed house.
The location is really wonderful. If the owner gets new mattresses and hires a professional to do a thorough cleaning it will be doable. If he doesn't do that I would suggest one bring a tent.
Lastly, and this is beyond the owner's control, the neighbor to one side must be building his own camp as he had a large tractor and a saw going much of the time. That was unfortunate and cut into the peace and quiet.
Despite all this we still managed to enjoy our week of vacation, saw loons and eagles, and kayaked. We had to leave early, however, as the beds were really intolerable.
Wonderful little cottage on the shore of a pond near Acadia National Park. The cottage is well equipped with everything necessary for short stays and it is very cozy and comfortable, up to 5 people. Furnitures are not new, but everything works and gives the feeling of being out in the Woods. The location is amazing and it allows to great dawns and sunsets on the pond.Ideal for lazy days, we would absolutely recommend it.
This place is magical. We stayed here in October 2021 and I’ve been longing to get back here and finally made it this fall. We hope to do it again in the near future it’s clean, comfortable, beautiful and well equipped and completely relaxing. Also, the host is super responsive and helped us out. Highly recommend.
The cabin was extremely remote and peaceful- exactly what we were looking for. As previous reviewers have said the furniture does need replacing and it could use a deep cleaning; however we knew we were renting a rustic camp so we were not surprised. We did enjoy our stay - fishing was great (caught a 2' pickerel!). We also had an issue that I called the property manager about and he responded immediately - much appreciated! A few tweaks and this place would be perfect!
This was a fantastic spot for a quiet get away. Having kayaks to use was awesome. Great views for the sunrise every morning. We drove to Acadia and bar harbor a few times but you could totally stay right at this cottage and still have loads of fun.
This camp is a great place to unwind! The boulder deck is an awesome place to relax and enjoy an adult beverage. Check-in was a breeze, and Mike corrected a sleeping arrangement issue quickly. I spent most mornings drinking my coffee on the deck. It was a great way to start my day. The internet was intermittent, so streaming a movie at night may be an issue. All in all, it was a great place to spend two weeks enjoying Down East.
This place does not disappoint!! Quiet and serene. Fantastic fishing and just the perfect place to kick back and relax. Looking forward to a 3rd visit.
Beautiful spot on the lake. A simple cabin, well loved, so if you don’t need anything fancy, they have all the necessities AND kayaks for use on the lake.
We enjoyed our stay at the cottage. Check in was easy and the host gave great directions to the cottage which was helpful as cell service in this area is poor. The cottage was accurately described and is very well stocked with almost everything you can think of besides the actual food for your trip. Felt very much like we were staying at a family cottage. The view from the dock was amazing!
The yard, view, lake, dock and fire pit were great! Communication was great and prompt and the price was good. Unfortunately, the cottage was dirty. We don’t mind old or outdated but it was dirty. Appliances were not cleaned and some didn’t work. Don’t think the blankets have ever been washed. Floors were dirty and rugs weren’t vacuumed. It’s a shame because the location and large deck were great.

Understand that this is a quintessential rustic cabin in Northern Maine. If you understand that: you will thoroughly enjoy this cabin. A slice of Maine cultural history.
The property manager has excellent communication and was so kind to mail my daughter’s clothing back to us!
The property is everything you would ever want and need for an isolated cabin on a lake. I didn’t mind the 45 min drive to Acadia and back, as it showcases the diversity of Northern Maine (farms, lobsters/sea, forests).
This cabin was absolutely fantastic for our first trip to Maine !!!
It was SOOO off the beaten path, with excellent ridiculously close access to the fishing dock (which we used and caught many fish) and kayak-launching shoreline (which we didn't have time to use).
The cabin and interior are super dated (think 70's), but also immaculately clean (we went barefoot and never felt a speck of dust) so it was absolutely charming! I loved seeing games/activities/posters/ utensils from my childhood :)
Main bed was too small for our liking, but with 3 twins in the kids' room we were able to all sleep comfortably.
We brought a sound machine, which was on-point since there are no ceilings separating the rooms; just walls.
It would have been nice to have basic toiletries (soap, shampoo, conditioner) because once we figured out we needed that, we were way too far from a store to "run get some". We all used the hand soap provided for our first shower, and then we left our shampoo/soap for the next guy in hopes to improve his experience :)
I would LOVE to come back and stay here, but I would NOT use it as my hub for Acadia---it took us a full hour ONE WAY to get in and out of Acadia each day, which felt like a waste of precious time either chilling at the cabin, or exploring Acadia.
This cabin is HIGHLY recommended for a complete getaway--I hope to come back! Price is reasonable!
BTW: There is Keurig machine but no K cups so bring your own :)
