A sunken terrace gives this apartment its name, with terracotta pots and garden furniture for your own use. Here you enter the oldest part of the house, with a most beautiful arch dating back to 1440. This is the first part of the house ever built. Other sections and wings were added one or two rooms at a time as the family prospered or when a son got married (when daughters married, they left the household to join the husband's family). Another arch leads to a very large bedroom, which is furnished with antique furniture rescued from an Italian Manor House prior to demolition. The second bedroom is also beautifully furnished. Each room has its own bathroom, and as with most of the apartments, La Terrazza has its own dining room, kitchen and sitting room.
If you prefer to eat outside, feel free to use your own little private terrace, or use the grander Terracotta Terrace just a few yards away.
And the pool is a short walk down the hill along a rosemary-edged path.
La Terrazza ( is a lovely 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom apartment on the ground floor at Podere Patrignone. It sleeps 4-6 people.
It’s believed to be the oldest building here at Patrignone, well over 600 years old! It still has some of the original ceiling beams – imagine what they’ve seen! It’s a large, cool apartment, with a big fully-equipped kitchen-dining-living room, two large double bedrooms with king-size beds, and full bathrooms with shower cubicles.
A sunken terrace (that gives this apartment its name) is your own private outdoor dining area, filled with terracotta pots and climbing honeysuckle.
The accommodation is quite flexible. The 1st bedroom has an additional day-bed, ideal for a child, and the second bedroom can be made up with a double and a single bed, or three single beds, whichever suits you best. This makes it ideal accommodation for families and friends alike.

Location
Patrignone is right in the middle of Chianti, at the epicentre of Tuscany's cultural treasures, just 10 minutes from the beautiful hill-top town of Castellina in Chianti, with its full compliment of restaurants, cafés and shops (and a small supermarket). Siena is just 35 minutes away, and Florence 40 minutes in the other direction, San Gimignano is 30 mins away, with Volterra the next village along. You really couldn't pick a more central location. There's no doubt that you'll need a car to get the most of Chianti's nooks and crannies, but if you feel like venturing further afield, within a 1.5-hour drive you'll find white sandy beaches, typically beautiful seaside resorts, dozens of hot springs, and the majesty of the snow-covered Apennines, clearly visible from Patrignone's terracotta terrace. And if you're into cycling, tennis, golf, ballooning or fishing, these activities and more can easily be organised. Just let us know what your interests are, and we'll give you some options.
