Moo Cow Cottage is a charming two Story Farm Cottage located in a beautiful countryside location on Stocken Hall Farm, near the village of Stretton.

This delightful cottage has a large secure garden and a secure parking area for multiple vehicles.

The Cottage has lots of extra touches for the whole family with a well equipped kitchen, travel cot, highchair, bathroom stool and stair gate so coming here with a young family is like home from home.

🏡 The cottage is set back from the road on a private driveway so despite its convenient proximity to the A1 which is 5 mins by car there is no issue of being disturbed by passing traffic.

🛏️ This delightful cottage sleeps 6 people over 3 bedrooms, with 2 king sized bedrooms and a bedroom with 2 single beds. There are provisions to put up an extra air bed or provide a travel cot if required.

🧺 The laundry room is in one of the outbuildings and has a washing machine and tumble dryer, and a large clothes line outside.

SUPERFAST Wi-Fi is available throughout the cottage and there is a 42 inch smart T.V in lounge.

📻 Radio available in the kitchen.

🏡 The large garden is completely fenced and secure with a concrete back yard which is ideal for the little ones to pedal the ride on tractors and keep amused whilst adults can relax on the patio or get cooking on the barbecue.

🥅 ⚽️ We have football goals and football in the garden for young and older to have a kick about.

💦 ⛵️ Rutland Water is just 20 mins drive and offers sailing, fishing, walks and cycle hire with the new Aqua Park inflatables for fun activities.

⛳️ Greetham Valley Golf Course driving range and Archery is just 10 mins by car.

📍 Local towns are Oakham, Stamford, Grantham and Melton Mowbray and nearest city is Peterborough which is 40 mins by car.

Beautiful Cottage

Moo Cow Cottage is a beautiful place set in a peaceful, tranquil location. This is a perfect getaway for anyone with dogs. The accommodation is well equipped with a wonderful host. Jennifer, thank you so much for having us to stay; it was the mini break we needed. We’ll definitely be back!

The BEST organised place I’ve ever stayed at!

Every detail of this house is perfect! From the details sent before our arrival, to the greeting, to the basket in the bathroom (just in case you’ve forgotten anything). Every little detail has been carefully thought through. This made our stay feel like home from home. Loved it!

A Lovely Cottage

This is a really lovely property, lots of space with an excellent, very well equiped, kitchen leading on to a big secure garden. we were a three generation family with a dog and the space worked brilliantly. We entertained family and had lots of children visit, the garden toys and sit on tractors where a huge success. I can honestly say we had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay. Jennifer is so helpful and made us feel completely at home, the cottage has lots of nice touches and the bedrooms are all spacious and airy. The location is great for visiting Stamford and Oakham, but wonderfully quite and peaceful, the children loved seeing the cows in the field opposite and there are very nice walks near by.

A really excellent find

This is probably one of the best holiday cottages we have stayed in, Jennifer has thought of everything you could need as a family, especially small children, to have a really relaxing stay. There is a fantastic kitchen with access onto a secure garden, loads of crockery and cooking equipment. The bedrooms are large and airy with very comfortable beds and the downstairs bathroom is modern and spacious. We had lots of family over to visit and all the children had a wonderful time playing with the outdoor sit on toy tractors and the garden has ample seating for adults. We also took our dog and found the utility room handy for all the walking boots etc, the child gate was especially useful for securing our dog when there was too much food around. We didn't stay long enough to really enjoy the countryside but Stamford and Oakham are wonderful towns so the location is really great. Apart from our noisy family it was really peaceful. We found having Jennifer nearby very helpful and would love to stay again.

First class accomodation, location and hosts

Moo Cow Cottage is such a wonderful place to stay. The cottage is located on a working farm which means a lovely, tranquil setting. It is beautifully appointed with everything and more than we could have asked for. All of the facilities are listed so little point in running through them again but one of the big things for us was the secure garden which was fabulous for out two dogs. Considering that the cottage is on a working farm, there was surprisingly very little noise or anything else to disturb your stay. The hosts are extremely friendly and are on the end of a phone or text message if you need anything, otherwise you’re afforded plenty of peace and privacy. An excellent road network means that you can use the cottage as a base for visiting local attractions with e.g. Peterborough about half an hour by car away and a visit to Tesco in Oakham took us about twenty minutes each way. Morkery Wood is next door to the farm and provides safe and quiet dog walking or a place for a gentle stroll. We loved this place and would return without hesitation and cannot praise it enough.

Brilliant cottage

This is nicely finished, well equipped and very comfy cottage set in lovely countryside, would highly recommend. Only downside was just having one bathroom between 6, which was downstairs

Lovely short break at Moo Cow Cottage

Jennifer was a great host. Helped with any questions we had and made us feel very welcome. The cottage is perfect for a young family, like ours. Toys, plastic cutlery, plastic plates & bowls, step for bathroom, travel cot and outside toys in a secure garden. Visited Twin lakes, Sacrewell farm and Ferneley’s and had a brilliant time, so plenty to keep little ones happy near by.

Wonderful family stay

Cottage is beautiful and private on a lovely farm. Children loved the added extras of the inside and outside toys and visiting the animals each day to say hello to the cows and ducks. Everything we needed was provided for us and we had a wonderful time. Jennifer is a fantastic host and even baked us a delicious chocolate cake for our stay!! Can’t recommend highly enough we shall definitely hope to visit again in the future.

Perfect getaway

Had a lovely weekend here, all the family friendly extras made sure the children were happy and we were able to relax whilst they played. Jennifer was so helpful and is an amazing baker! Lots to do nearby, we loved Stamford green and Rutland water.

Moo Cow Cottage is a perfect holiday let. Beautiful location with views overlooking farmland and expansive woodland. Very quiet apart from countryside animals and the occasional tractor - really idyllic setting. Jennifer was extremely welcoming and left us a chocolate cake on arrival. Nothing too much trouble and the cottage was immaculately clean and fresh. Huge beds with fresh crisp linen and a massive kitchen with everything you need if you fancy cooking from scratch. Would highly recommend a stay and we will be back!

RUTLAND'S RURAL RETREAT

Moo Cow Cottage proved ideal for our short autumn stay during which we were able to visit relatives nearby without interrupting their routines, enjoy a return to the countryside I remember from my youth and give our daughters and grandchildren a wonderful day on the Nene Valley Railway - one of several possible outings available from here. Everything was ready for us when we arrived including the delicious home-made chocolate cake. Thank you Jennifer for your warm welcome and readiness to answer any questions. We wholeheartedly recommend the "MCC" as a great place from which to explore Rutland and Lincolnshire.

I live on Stocken Hall Farm with my husband and 3 teenage sons. I was born and raised on a farm in Fermanagh in Northern Ireland, we moved to Rutland in 2008.
In addition to running the holiday cottage I manage the office on the farm and help on the farm when needed so I'm often seen in a pair of wellies.

This cottage will provide a home from home setting. The cottage is set back from the road on a private driveway so despite it's convenient proximity to the A1 there is no issue of being disturbed by passing traffic.
The interior décor, pictures and furniture have been carefully chosen and the 'look' is cozy, homely & country farm cottage. Guests will be made to feel welcome when they arrive with a hamper including tea, coffee and cake/biscuits.
I regret this property would not be suitable for a wheel chair.

What makes this property unique

Large fenced garden, beautiful countryside with plenty of walking areas.
Open fire in lounge is lovely in the winter months and the patio and barbecue is a bonus in the summer for outside dining.
