This Georgian style Victorian home sleeps up to 15 people, perfect for families and large groups to stay and explore the surrounding area. Cumbria House is located on a quiet street in the heart of Keswick, a couple of minutes walk from the town centre, its bars, cafés, restaurants and shops.

Cumbria House is at the doorstep of the dramatic Northern Lakes and so is a convenient starting point for scenic hiking, road riding and mountain biking. Keswick also has a many uniques attractions, festivals and events offering entertainment for the whole family.

You will have exclusive use of the whole house; eight bedrooms, a dining room, a large kitchen, two lounges, a utility room, drying room and south facing patio. There is free super-fast wifi throughout and a large private off-street car park for seven cars.

Great location - fantastic accommodation!

Great location - fantastic accommodation. A large group of us stayed for a walking weekend and were really impressed with the house. Really pretty and really practical - everything has been carefully thought through so the house is equipped with everything that you would need. The location is also great - right on the doorstep of loads of great pubs and all the other shops and amenities. The price per head is also very reasonable for the Lakes. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely house, great location, well equipped and immaculate

We just spent a week with family (12 people) in this house and there’s nothing I can fault. Communication before was quick and helpful and we were offered an early check in which was useful. The house is just about 200 meters from the first shops, pubs and restaurants in Keswick which we made good use of. Given its location, having parking for up to 7 cars is unexpected. The house is beautiful and is well kept, very clean and excellently equipped. Two large fridges, large freezer, two dishwashers, drying room with dehumidifier, the most caffetiers I have ever seen (11?), good Wi-fi, etc. Even had a dumb waiter to transport food from kitchen to dining room which was sized to cope with a full house. No negatives at all. The house is over 5 floors so those in the top rooms will get some good exercise, but that’s why we were in the Lake District... Very happy with the stay would return and recommend...

Perfect for a group of family/friends

Cumbria House is in a fantastic location, just minutes from the centre of Keswick with the added benefit of ample private parking. The bedrooms and bathrooms are beautifully presented and the views both front and back to the fells are wonderful - particularly from the higher floors. The house has all the facilities that you could want and James and Ruth are lovely owners that were quick to answer any queries before and during our stay.

Ruth and I met while trekking in the Everest region of Nepal and our passion for the outdoors continues in Keswick. Ruth has been based in Keswick for over 11 years and is a keen photographer and open water swimmer while James enjoys mountain biking and fell running. We bought Cumbria House in 2015 and enjoy providing self-catering holidays for families and large groups. We have provided walking recommendations for the local area and our favourite places to visit and eat in our welcome guide.

Why they chose this property

Cumbria House is a beautiful Victorian property with stunning views of the dramatic northern Lake District, only two minutes’ walk from Keswick town square.

A rarity in Keswick, we have private off-road parking for eight cars, and also have facilities for all weathers; there are two cosy guest lounges on two floors, the upper lounge has a beautiful open fire for which there is plenty of logs. We also have a drying room to dry your coats and boots on those wet days. And there is a south facing patio with tables and chairs for those sunny days!

What makes this property unique

All the bedrooms are en-suite (expect for one single room, which has its own private bathroom) and all have great views of the Northern fells including Skiddaw, Blencathra & the Newlands Fells. There are lots of period features in the house including tall ceilings and the beautiful original windows with their wooden shutters.
