Il Fienile in the countryside just 11 km from Florence

Il Fienile, an independent structure recently restored following the criteria of the Tuscan tradition, is located in a hilly area with a landscape connection, surrounded by olive groves and vineyards. Our guests can enjoy the pleasure of a stay in the countryside, in total privacy, immersed in nature and far from the chaos of the city but only a few minutes from the city of Florence. In the old farmhouse, on the property, live the owners who are engaged in the work of the farm and happy to be of help to guests. Il Fienile offers all the comforts of a modern home to make guests feel at home. From the large south-facing sun terrace you can enjoy a beautiful view of the panorama of rolling hills cultivated with vines and olive trees. The small farm where the Barn is located breeds free-range chickens and rabbits for family use. Depending on the season it is possible to admire the splendid blooms of different botanical species including azaleas, gardenias, camellias, lilies, calla lilies and fruit trees. It is also possible to make pleasant excursions on foot in the surrounding countryside, for example, to discover the church of San Romolo situated on top of a hill overlooking the Arno valley. Going down to the valley, just 3 km, there is a shopping center and the historic center of Lastra a Signa with restaurants offering typical dishes of Tuscan cuisine. At 8km there is the tramway station which, every 3-5 minutes and in less than 30 minutes, leads to the central station of Florence, and is certainly the fastest and most convenient way to reach the city. Il Fienile is ideally located for excursions to discover the many wonders of Tuscany such as Prato, Pistoia, San Gimignano, Siena, Pisa, Lucca, Certaldo and many, many others.

Most amazing hosts!

Paolo and Alba were the most amazing hosts, they were super accomodating and their place was absolutely beautiful. Would recommend this to anyone wanting a relaxing getaway in the Italian countryside.

A Tuscan Dream

We had had great stay with Paolo and Alba. The house was immaculate and the eggs, jam and baked goods on arrival were very much appreciated. You really get the feeling of being in the country, but the city is just a 2.5 mile drive down the hill which makes this a great location to explore Tuscany. We highly recommend this property.

Perfect!

Great location! Short drive into town to the grocery store and public transportation to Florence. The hosts, Paolo and Alba, are wonderful people and we are happy that we had time to chat and get to know them. They were very gracious and generous. We stayed with our teen and young adult children and the space was perfect for our family of 5. We enjoyed the view and peacefulness of being away from the city. The kitchen had everything we needed and prepared meals multiple times. Would absolutely go back again and stay.

This property is more than we imagined. Driving up a narrow, winding road into the Italian countryside we arrived at a gate which was promptly opened for us. The hosts were two absolutely wonderful people who took it upon themselves to show us into the property and give us instructions for using appliances, etc. The property sits on an olive farm and is very peaceful with great views. We were 2 couples and were very comfortable here. The town of Lastra a Signa sits at the bottom of the hill and Florence is only 10 - 15 minutes by car. You would do well to have a car here to get around. I would definitely stay here again. Arrivederci! everything ins

An incredible Tuscany getaway

If you’re looking to get away from the bustling city as we were, this is your place! Paolo & Alba we’re the most welcoming hosts with a fresh pie, eggs, jam, and olive oil ready for us and were more than willing to accommodate as we needed. The house was exactly as described except they can’t put in to words the beauty of the hills it overlooks. The stars were amazing and we watched hot air balloons rise above the olive trees & fields of grapes in the morning The timing of the trip was not great for ease of transportation as there was a taxi strike but the train station was only an 8 minute drive and is only 2 stops from the main station in Florence. Next time we stay, we will be renting a car! I would highly recommend staying here if you’re looking for a central Tuscan spot to relax and recharge

Hard to Cope.

If you like staying where Airplanes are landing at the Florence Airport while flying just 200 - 300 m over your heads. This is the ideal vacation spot for you! The Jet Airliners start landing by 8am and the last one lands around midnight, and sometimes thereafter. In the description of this Holiday Home they state that there is no city noise. I guess to a certain degree that is correct, But, the modern civilization noise of the landing Jet Aircaraft made it hard for us to cope. On the other hand, Paola and Alba are amazing and very nice host. I loved the frest eggs, and we loved the daily visits from the cats. All in all, this vacation/holiday home has everything you'd want or need. If it just wasn't for those damned disturbing Jet Airplanes and the noise they caused over our heads. The Catons

Fabulous Farmhouse!

My husband and I are gardeners and were intrigued by this place and it was wonderful. A rennovated farmhouse built in the 1500s! All modern comforts inside. It is 2 story with bedrooms up. All is spacious and comfortable. Since it is a working farm, it is in the country, but the town, grocery stores and lovely restaurants are not far away. We had a car and enjoyed driving around the country. When we arrived, we had farm fresh eggs in the refrigerator. Alba and Paolo raise chickens. I loved walking through the olive trees and garden with Alba. We exchanged gardening tips and just our love of planting & growing food. I would highly recommend staying here for a relaxing place. Oh, 2 more things. Google Maps got us right to the gates. The patio off the kitchen & living room is a beautiful place to enjoy a glass of wine and watch sunset with a picturesque Italian farming view!

Scheune auf dem Land

Die Gastgeber sind sehr nett. Alles hat prima geklappt. Das Haus ist idyllisch gelegen mit tollem Blick auf die umliegenden Hügel. Die Unterkunft ist geschmackvoll eingerichtet und sehr gepflegt. Nur das W-lan ist leider sehr schwach. Insgesamt ist die Scheune unbedingt weiterzuempfehlen.

Our best holiday for ever. So great thanks to Alba and Paolo who were the most helpful, kind and lovely hosts. We feld ourselves at once very welcome. Every morning the loveliest fresh eggs, tomatoes, plums and Buio , the dog kind of cat, were waiting for us outside the door. We will never forget You. Beautiful house in idyllic surroundings

The house is near by Florence but you are far away from loud streets or the like. From the terrace you have a breathtaking view on the Tuscany in the sunset. The house is very nice and comfortably furnished. Especially the kitchen. In addition, the air conditioning brings pleasantly cool nights in hot summer. We were greeted very nicely and spoiled with eggs from their own chickens and homemade jam and olive oil. Our stay couldn't have been better. We would have liked to stay longer and recommend a holiday in this beautiful house to all.

Weggeblazen onder de langdingsbaan van vliegveld Florence en digitaal niemandsland

Woning goed verzorgd, en goede voorzieningen. Maar: lag recht onder de aanvliegroute van Florence Airport. 50 vliegtuigen per dag, tussen ong. 7.30 en 00.15u denderden voorbij op nog geen 100 meter hoogte. Je kon elkaar niet meer verstaan. Weg rust. Rustzoekers horen hier niet thuis. Daarnaast werkt Wifi niet . Sterker nog, er is niet eens mobiel bereik. Telefoons, iPads: werkt allemaal niet. Deze woning is niet voor herhaling vatbaar en niet geschikt voor mensen die rust willen.

Our stay in this house started with a fantastic homemade jam, olive oil and eggs from the farm. I think that this is a calling card already for the house. Alba and Paolo met us and were very helpful. A very comfortable and spacious house at a quiet area. The house is exactly as described. The territory is big and green. We enjoyed the view of typical Tuscany landscape from the window. After visiting Florence sights we could relax at a calm and peaceful place. The rooms were spotlessly clean and the kitchen was very well equipped and new. We were impressed by the plants on the territory especially with the olive trees with fruits on it. We highly recommend the house because the location and the house are wonderful!

A magical 12 days with gracious and generous hosts - don't miss it.

We were searching for a small private villa get away with access to nearby Tuscan towns and cities. We wanted privacy but also wanted "character". We found it all, along with making friends with our amazing hosts, Paolo and Alba. The house is exactly as you see it in the pictures, but the pictures do not tell you the story of a wonderful time - you will have to make your own as we made ours. The house is pristine - that coming from a professional property manager says a lot! Clean, neat with everything you need. Fresh eggs from the chickens kept by Paolo and Alba, vegetables from her garden and perfect instructions on how to use everything in the house. the COOP is a five minute drive and we enjoyed going there daily to pick up whatever we needed to cook. If we had a question, it was answered immediately. Hedges of rosemary and sage enough to cook the most savory dishes. A view that is spectacular and a supply of their own olive oil and jam! Nothing more you can ask for. If you have a kitty at home you will love Buia (means Dark in Italy) a black cat with white belly who is more like a dog than a cat. He will visit but not be a pest. Loves warm milk on the porch if you like - but not a house cat and doesn't go inside but will greet you and rub up against you to say good morning and good night. For some reason, the roosters don't crow until we awake - so amazingly trained!! We took great walks in the area, enjoyed a warm night where we could have dinner outside and enjoyed the screened windows (a real luxury in Italy) so we could keep our windows open. To stay in touch, internet is there as well. Just can't say enough good things about this lovely villa perfect for two or even four - two couples or a couple with a child or two! We loved it solo!! You will not be disappointed. Enjoy and we will be back as soon as we can!! Madeleine & John

Fienile sotto le stelle 💫

La location è un fienile finemente ristrutturato, con un’attenzione particolare ai dettagli! Gli spazi sono distribuiti su due livelli: sotto la zona giorno comprensiva di cucina abitabile salotto e bagno, sopra due camere matrimoniali, un letto singolo e un secondo bagno. L’esterno è ampio e vivibile (nel nostro caso la sera, visto il caldo, abbiamo mangiato sul terrazzo con l'ampio tavolo in dotazione preparandoci la “chianina” al bbq!) giardino, orti ed uliveto circondano la proprietà. La struttura è gestita con gentilezza e cortesia da Paolo e la moglie, i proprietari vi faranno sentire come a casa e vi accoglieranno come amici! Bonus ~ Al nostro arrivo abbiamo trovato uova fresche delle loro galline e marmellata fatta in casa. Buon soggiorno
