We stayed in the cottage for three nights and found it the perfect location for scouting out the National Park and surrounding areas. We recommend it to all travelers.

Great place to stay. There are some beautiful hiking trails all around. The village has some nice restaurants if you do not feel like cooking in the well equipped kitchen. Go and visits Balmoral Estate and the Cairn (pyramids), it is a short drive up the road.
Would defiantly recommend and will look at staying again.
Lovely cottage, well equipped and very comfortable. The only negative for us was the shower, my husband is 6ft 2 and he only just fitted under it but he enjoyed having baths.
This cottage is so nice you won't want to leave the house. The layout is perfect and incredibly functional, and the style is pristine and tasteful. There is a laminated guidebook with info about the appliances, temp control, amenities, nearby hikes. Everything was in stock, everything worked. The skylights have blinds/shades and can be cracked open for air, and the lighting options inside are numerous.
Sometimes you see houses that have been flipped with superficial touches yet they fail at basic functions. Not this house. Cairn Leuchan is the perfect synthesis of substance and style. A dream come true. Plus, Clare was communicative and friendly during every interaction.
I wish I could relive the three nights I spent here. It was heaven...the kind of memory I will replay on my death bed...20 year anniversary, with my wife, in this lovely house.
Do not hesitate...book this property!
The photograph of the property was misleading, Cairn Leuchan is not the whole property as pictured, it is only the right hand one third. We were disappointed that we did not have the whole property. The kitchen area was small, although there was a good sized fridge there was no storage for 'dry goods'. Other than that it was warm and comfortable.
Relativ neu eingerichtete Wohnung. Küche gut ausgestattet, sogar TABS für die Spülmaschine.
Das einzige was fehlt ist eine Abstellmöglichkeit für Lebensmittel, ist aber nicht so tragisch.
Gern wieder.
A lovely property in a great rural location. Good to come back to after a day out walking. Owners nearby and very responsive to queries (we couldn’t get the dishwasher to work at first). Very comfortable bed and seating. Pleasant walk into Ballater. all in all I highly recommend.
We would highly recommend staying at this cottage, not only is it presented very well, but also in a great location! We loved our stay, and would definitely come back!
This short break was taken to 'get away from it all' and we were not disappointed. This cottage was presented beautifully. It was cosy, comfortable, clean and well equipped. The surrounding area is also truly stunning. There were plenty of opportunities for some fantastic walks. I'm really looking forward to planning my next stay here.
A very nice property for a couple to stay in. Just a few minutes drive from Ballater, or you can walk it in just over 30 mins. Owners very easy to contact if needed. Quite location but lots to do locally.
Our second stay. As before, very comfortable and well equipped cottage. Location is quiet and picturesque. Also excellent for outdoor pursuits and convenient for the village of Ballater. We hope to return next year. A firm favourite now!
We were very positively surprised. Clean and lots of space. We can highly recommend it.

Lovely place in great location
Really nice property split over 2 floors, immaculate and up to date fashion and tech wise. A couple of things broke whilst we stayed but Dan the owner around quickly to help sort them out no problems. Well recommended and looking forward to going back there!

A very nice wee place in a great location.
A high quality facility in a great location. We enjoyed our stay. One wee comment would be that there could have been some info on the facilities i.e. How to operate the heating, oven etc, and what the local activities are.

Wonderful little cottage in beautiful location
We had a lovely 4 night stay at Cairn Leuchan - it's a brilliantly well-equipped place, finished off beautifully, although a DVD player would be nice! Very comfortable and quiet, with easy access to Ballater and great walks, particularly around Loch Muick. Also met Dan at their bike rental place in the town, so good to know help is close at hand should it be needed, although hard to imagine what would be needed. Ideal place to get away from it all and would thoroughly recommend!

Ideal for two people
Quiet and well situated in a beautiful Glen.
Everything worked well.
Owner very helpful.
Electric Hob is situated in an unusual position. Owner needs to get a fire blanket at least.
