About this property
Quirky cottage for two near coastal footpath at Borth y Gest
A beautifully renovated cottage close to the coastal path and villages of Borth y Gest and Morfa Bychan. The cottage dates from the 1700's and used to be the out kitchen to the farmhouse where the owners live.
The cottage has been lovingly restored and updated to provide a high level of comfort and style.
Steps lead down to the cottage which has a stable door. The ground floor of the cottage is open plan and comprises the kitchen and sitting area. It is small and cosy and perfect for a couple. We had a lovely relaxing stay in the cosy cottage. Thank you so much to the owners for allowing us to change the dates of our stay at the very last minute, due to a family member’s serious illness. We very much appreciated it, as we realised they didn’t have to do that at such short notice. The cottage was perfect, spotlessly clean and warm and in a great location for exploring the local area and beyond. We would definitely recommend.
The cottage is wonderful! Very comfy bed, great little kitchen area and the most relaxing atmosphere. The views from the nearby beaches (a matter of minutes walk away) are stunning, especially at sunset. You couldn't find a more perfect place to stay.
A perfect little hideaway with everything you could need. Really comfy bed, great shower and a lovely little spot in the garden for coffee (or something!) We didn’t need to use the car once. Close to easy footpaths and the coastal railway was a treat.
We really enjoyed our stay in this little cottage. The area is a great one to explore and Branwen and Paul were perfect hosts.

Thank you Sophie for your kind review, you certainly made the most of your sunny week! We're glad you enjoyed your boat trip to Bardsey island, it's a beautiful place to go and so peaceful, we would recommend it to visitors for the wildlife and seal watching.
The cottage was well-equipped, quaint, well decorated and was way beyond our expectations. Unfortunately the weather was too warm for us to need the log burner (we'll need to return in winter).
Although compact the cottage is well designed to meet all needs. The bed is very comfortable which helped to give us a restful stay. We loved being able to get to sandy beaches so easily.
This is the second time we’ve stayed at this cottage. We love the location / area - plenty of amazing walks - stunning scenery.
The cottage is well equipped and perfect for our little ‘get away’ - we will certainly come back again - in fact we plan on making it an annual event
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Modern and clean with excellent facilities and plenty of charm. We enjoyed the outside seating area. Excellent wi fi. A fantastic trip on the
Snowdonia Mountain Railway. We had a wonderful stay.
Stunning little cottage - perfect for our 3 night break. Great location with easy access to coastal path and stunning beaches from the door. Lovely and warm with everything we needed - appreciated the remote control blinds on the ceiling velux windows helping towards a good nights sleep with just the sound of the owls (and rain on the roof - it is Wales!) We hope to return

This quirky cottage is exactly as advertised - it was a pleasure to stay, had everything we needed.
Easy nearby walks, great base for exploring and a cosy welcome after a soggy day.
Cottage was very clean and had everything needed for a break away. Nice and quiet. Within short driving distance of nearest amenities. Would recommend if looking for a quiet getaway.
We've had a wonderful week, gorgeous comfortable cottage with everything we needed. Beautiful beaches only a short walk away along the coastal path.
Enjoyed trips to Pwllheli, Cricceith, Portmeirion, Porthmadog and a lovely trip on a steam train on Welsh Highlands railway to Ffestiniog, fantastic. Very helpful host, clean, cosy and comfortable cottage, would love to stay again.
We are a couple in our fifties who decided to go into the holiday cottage business when our daughters left home. After the success of our other property, Ffermdy Bach we decided to renovate our outbuilding which we started in 2017. We have finished this year (2018) and look forward to welcoming guests.
Why they chose this property
The location is what sets this property apart. If you love to walk down to the beach in 5 minutes and enjoy the beauty of Wales you'll love Hen Gegin. It's the combination of sea and mountains that makes our area so special, with so much to explore and enjoy.
What makes this property unique
Hen Gegin is the original out kitchen to the main Farmhouse and the property was once lived in by Dafydd y Garreg Wen (1711-1741) a renowned Welsh composer and harpist. The beautiful coastal farmland was sold in the 1960's.
