We stayed in November in Upper Slaughter. The cottage was warm, cosy, perfect size for the 5 of us. Very clean and well furnished. A beautiful 15 minute walk across a bridal way to Lower Slaughter. And from our cottage we visited Boughton-on-the-water, Broadway and Stow-on-the-wold and of course the Christmas market at Blenheim Palace. WOW. So a great, quiet place to stay after our busy walking, shopping and sightseeing daily adventures. The hosts were speedy responders to any questions we had prior to arriving and gave very accurate directions to the cottage. Would highly recommend.
Getting into the house was very simple and the property was very clean and tidy. The location was excellent, a great walk over to Lower Slaughter and Bourton and easy access to the many delights of the Cotswolds. Parking for 2 cars was no problem (Brian next door even let us use his space on occasion). The rooms were comfortable apart from the occasional bang on the head from low beams and the downstairs bedroom is slightly cramped. The house could do with a bit more fridge space for 6 adults and the dining table in the kitchen is a squeeze for the whole gang. Other than that, the kitchen was adequately equipped, though some bigger pans wouldn't go amiss, and the living room was comfy as well. Another set of keys would also have been handy.
One of the best properties we've ever stayed in. Immaculately presented, stunning cottage in the heart of the Cotswolds in the quiet village of Upper Slaughter. Couldn't have asked for a better place to stay for our weekend away. ***** rated every day of the week. Very Highly Recommended.
Lovely old cottage in beautiful area. Car needed for amenities but good walks on doorstep.
Welcome cake was lovely touch. Slight problem at beginning of stay was very swiftly resolved with friendly owner. Unfortunately could not give 5* as a couple of the waste bins hadn't been emptied, previous occupants clothing left in bedroom draw! Maybe new saucepans as these had been left burnt and not fit for use. However the cottage was well equipped overall and welcome cake was a lovely touch.
