Our family enjoyed the cozy tranquil environment of the Mill House. Our host Daniel was very friendly and gave us the back history of the Mill House. He suggested a beautiful spot to sit and chat for my brother in laws. We

Thank you so much for your positive review. I really appreciate it. Dan
The coach house had something for everyone and has the charm and aesthetics of a 19th century structure with plenty of modern amenities. It was the perfect base for our trips into Kilkenny and the surrounding area.

The grounds and the house itself are spectacular. Large kitchen and lounge, several comfy bedrooms. The house was very well stocked with anything you might need, from firewood to laundry detergent.
There was bonus apple trees with delicious apples and 2 dogs that the kids adored.
Some downsides - check in was a bit of a hassle. I was sent an email that implied the host would be at the property but when we arrived no one was there and had to message to get instructions for key.
Spiders - we're from Australia so we don't mind a couple of spiders, but there were a lot of spiders! It's an old house, I get it, but still.
Old wiring meant some lights and light switches were temperamental or didn't work.
Overall we had a lovely stay, but wasn't perfect.
Five friends and I stayed at the Mill House in May 2023. The host, Daniel, was simply a delight to meet and chat with, and gave us some really good recommendations for site-seeing which we were able to use further into our trip. The Mill House is very large, and we loved having the huge kitchen and living areas. The bathrooms were a bit dicey to be honest, but what can you expect in an historic house? To me, it was worth not having updated appliances and bathrooms in order to get to enjoy the lovely house and grounds. For me personally, I was in heaven sitting out on the back deck with my coffee each morning while everyone slept, and watching the birds at the pond. It truly was heavenly. Also a short walk up the lane that you come in on provides you with a little bench where one can sit and overlook the valley. I'd definitely come again and stay at the Mill House!
Property was beautiful. It felt like home immediately.

Nice property, but
Check in process was poor. I sent multiple (3) messages the day of arrival but when we got there around 7PM the house had not been cleaned after previous guests left. I placed a call and owner had it cleaned. We went out to dinner while this was done. Disappointed by the delay after traveling all day, and paying so much for the rental. Although I didn't ask for it, a nice offer by the owner turned sour when he said he would cover our dinner repeatedly but never compensated us.
Overall we liked the countryside location of the home, but 2 things should be clear- the 2nd bathroom is up a spiral staircase connected to a bedroom (not easy to take luggage up there or use that bathroom). Another bedroom overlooks one below it, so zero privacy. The faucets in the kitchen and downstairs bathroom both had issues - handles non-functional / no flow.
I'd like to say I really liked the property, but I think they can do better.
My family and I stayed here for a few nights and absolutely enjoyed the charming home and its gorgeous surroundings. Location is quiet and secluded, yet less than half an hour to Kilkenny. Also loved our visit to nearby Woodstock Gardens. Daniel was a helpful and friendly host. WiFi was not working while we were there, but it wasn’t a big deal for us. Would definitely recommend!
We got the wood stove going while it was snowing out. Perfect. It’s also near a really cute town called Thomastown that has great restaurants. The area itself is beautiful. Great spot for a country get away.
An amazing house to celebrate New year's Eve.
Very cosy and has all the cooking equipment you could need.
Daniel was very helpful and provided a professional service.
Highly recommended
Dan and Jack were excellent hosts- available to answer any questions or concerns. Their office is on the property which was very helpful. Finding the house was a problem since the house itself is not on the road- it is up a gorgeous driveway. However Dan came out to meet us on the main road and took us to the home. The house was clean and stocked with all needs. Definitely need a car to go out anywhere- dinner, food shopping. Great for going on day trips in the area. Kilkenny is approximately 30 min away. We were there with another family so kids loved the down time and we loved being able to do day trips then come home and cook simple meals and enjoy some drinks on the back deck or in the front courtyard. WiFi was on and off - we were okay with that. We did not mention it to the owners until the end- I’m sure they would have tried to fix it. Beautiful home in tranquil setting.
