About this property
Luxury Hayshed Cottage with hot tub near St Andrews
Balass Hayshed Cottage provides a romantic setting for couples who enjoy a little luxury. With outlooks over our Mediterranean feel courtyard garden and access to a hot tub for the exclusive use of Hayshed guests. The tub is regularly cleaned between guest visits and the chemical balance of the tub is monitored. We have aimed to provide total comfort with all you could want to ensure a great holiday. We have White Company bedlinen, towels and bathrobes and the most comfortable of beds with a thick mattress topper described as “like sleeping on clouds”. We have feather duvets and pillows.
There is additional sleeping accommodation in the loft area of the property with a similarly super-comfortable bed.
The property is a 12 - 20 minute drive from St Andrews and there you have access to the lovely university town with its many golf courses, beautiful beaches and wonderful restaurants. We are 5 minutes from the local railway station and an hour’s train journey from Edinburgh. Dundee is a 25 minute drive with the new V and A Museum amongst many other attractions. There is also access to Royal Deeside about an hour away by car . The countryside featured in The Crown and Outlander can be reached easily.
Many guests use this as a centralised base to reach additional golf courses including Gleneagles and Carnoustie.
The property has wifi but we live in the country and we do not have fibre broadband. The signal has been boosted as much as possible but guests will not get the reception that they can expect urban settings.

About the host
Hosted by Susan Williams

We have lived at Balass for our entire married life and have slowly but surely renovated the property. We have worked hard to make this a special place especially extending and improving the garden. We have 15 acres of fields and woods which guests are welcome to walk through or picnic in. We are keen gardeners and that is reflected in the various gardens at our home. We enjoy golf, tennis, skiing and watching rugby. Sue loves to cook, Douglas loves to eat !
Why they chose this property
This is a beautiful area of Scotland. We are surrounded by farmland but near to the town of Cupar , 5 minutes away by car, 20 minutes walk. The courtyard garden is very special with various areas to sit in to read or eat outside if the weather is good. The hot tub provides a great place to relax in the setting of the courtyard . The property is very comfortable with a blend of traditional build with modern interior. It has a very well equipped kitchen and if there is anything missing we can provide it from our own kitchen. We hope we have thought of everything but if we have not just tell us and we will do our best to oblige. We have herbs growing in the garden and all are welcome to help themselves .
What makes this property unique
Quiet, extremely comfortable and in a unique setting looking over the courtyard garden.
