Bill and OG were wonderful host! Location of the cabin is absolutely fantastic for those who want to be fairly mobile and access various locations all the way from sewer to Homer. While we did not have a good sockeye run on the Kenai, just down the road at the Kasilof river it was on and got a lot of nice reds.
The property & cabins were amazing! The view from our cabin was Majestic to say the least! Bill was a wonderful host who took the time to give us a quick tour & chatted us up. I’d recommend this to anyone looking for a slice of heaven in Alaska & I’m from Alaska!!!

Great cabin and location. Right on the river. Host was extremely helpful and friendly. Cabin had everything we needed and was comfortable. Ended up having our fish processed and packed onsite. Will be back for sure!

We had such a great time at the cabin this weekend. Nobody else was there, so it was good peaceful and enjoyable. Easy access to fishing. Really enjoyed the fire pit with the picnic table next to it. Stayed outside most of the dau, it was so nice. Thank you for a great stay.

We really appreciate the feedback. We strive to make your stay in Alaska memorable. We look forward to seeing you again.
We had a great time with Bill White. The cabins were great not fancy but served our purpose for the price.
The view of the river was fantastic. We did a fishing bear viewing with Talon Air and it was unbelievable.
We had four couples and had a blast.
.
Cabin provided has all the necessary essentials to have a pleasant stay. Million dollar view of the Kenai river. Fishing right down on the bank. Space was sufficient for 4 men and fishing gear. Resort is family friendly. This would be a great place to stay for first timers to Alaska. Can’t beat the price for the level of comfort.

Thanks for taking the time to review our services. It was a pleasure hosting your team Steve. When you said you all fish hard I see that! Good job and thanks again.
I enjoyed my stay and time at Bill Whites lodge. We booked in a downtime for the run, but Bill helped guide us into fish territory with his recommendations. We ended up taking back over 175 lbs of fillets. Mostly Halibut. Thanks for letting us freeze the fish.
Thanks again for the entertaining conversations and time at your awesome property. I will be back next year for the RUn.

Great to host you and your family Gary. Looking forward to seeing you next year!
Bill White is an amazing host! He was so helpful with information and processing fish that we caught while in the area. My son commented that he was like an uncle. He really did make us feel welcome and comfortable.
The place was so perfectly located for exploring the whole Kenai Peninsula. We drove down to Homer one day, went fishing another day, hiking and cruising in the Kenai Fjords National Park in Seward another day.
As mentioned in another review, we did notice the movement in the cabin due to being "earthquake proofed"... but nothing we couldn't get used to. We were blown away by the beauty and sound of being right on the river. We would choose this place to stay again in a second! We loved it!!!
Bill is a great host - made us feel like family! The location of the cabin in Sterling on the banks (literally) of the Kenai River is perfect for those looking for a springboard for exploration of the Kenai Peninsula. Fishing, hiking and sightseeing opportunities abound within a 2 hours radius of this centrally located town. Bill is a wealth of information of local attractions and is very willing to help with your itinerary. The picture in the listing is of Bill's personal residence and not of the cabins for rent, hence the 4 stars instead of 5 for accuracy of online listing. The cabins are rustic, but tastefully decorated and well supplied. I have but 2 negative critiques: the whole cabin shakes with any kind of movement, and the heating unit in the front of the cabin sends heat to the loft upstairs, bypassing the single bedroom downstairs and the downstairs in general. Our boys, who slept upstairs, complained of being too hot and keenly aware of any movement occurring downstairs. Despite these minor inconveniences, our opinion is this place is a 5!

Hi Mary,
Thanks for the kind words and letting us host you and the boys! We love the feedback and we would like to address a couple of your mentions.
We can't do central heat but I can put a ceiling fan in the cabin. That should help distribute the heat better. On the shaking, we have a foundation with 22ft pipes in the ground and set for earthquake flexibility. The main photo on the site is of the main lodge which we rent rooms. All the other photos are of the cabins and inside accommodations. The lodge, if it were rented would be 2000 a day, 4 bath and 4 bedroom. Cabins in june are 175+ a day. Sorry for any confusion. I'll address it. We hope to have u back again. Thanks again for the feedback.
Captain Bill
This is a real fish camp cabin, right on the Kenai River. Nice deck attached for hanging out to enjoy the view. Nothing fancy here ladies. The photo of people fishing on the beach was not taken there. The water comes right up to the bank. Bill is an attentive host.
We really enjoyed our time here. Bill, the host, was very knowledgeable about the area. He was very friendly and organized 2 of the most spectacular fishing trips that we could have ever imagined. 1 river trip where our party of 4 caught 3 nice King Salmon, and 1 smaller one and limited out on Reds. Then a Halibut trip that we also all caught our limits. Bill and his right hand man Kenneth helped us vacuum seal and freeze our fish to have it ready for shipping home. He made sure that we were having a great time, in which we did. Already looking forward to going back again. Thank you for everything.
Located in Sterling, it's the ideal home base for many Kenai Peninsula adventures. Bill is a hospitable, friendly host with lots of local knowledge and goes above and beyond to make sure you have a good stay. We were on a guys fishing trip with 3 in our group and cabin #2 was perfect for us. It was clean and had everything needed. Beds are very comfortable. Don't expect luxury accommodations or anything fancy. Rates are very reasonable. Fishing from the shore of the property was good. Can fish from the dock or wade in. It was a humpy year so the majority of fish caught were big, fat pinks. We also caught a couple of smaller rainbows and another group caught a nice silver. Bill's mom and dad processed the fish we caught and kept it frozen until our departure. Overall, met the needs of our trip perfectly and Bill is an excellent host. Would stay with Bill again and recommend his property to anyone looking for no frills accommodations for their Kenai peninsula trip.
Super friendly people who want to help you have a great experience. They were very helpful and knowledgeable helping us get outfitted for our fishing. Great people and great experience
This lodge property features and experienced, attentive host who is a pleasure to be around. Very helpful.

Vraiment dommage...

Claudine,
It is very concerning and saddens us to hear about your dissatisfaction several months after your departure. We wish that if any issue with our facilities are in question that our clients come see us immediately so we can address any concern. We strive to ensure all our clients have a positive experience when they visit our location. We are onsite and available for our clients! There must have been a serious oversight for you to enter an unclean chalet. We have personnel on schedule to service the facilities before allowing a new customer check-in. This is the first bad experience reported to us in 17 years. To ensure it does not happen again we will present the cabins to our clients on arrival with an introduction walk through. Your cabin should have had bath matts in place and a large towel and wash cloth at the footer of each bed. The refrigerator should have been empty and clean. As for the microwave it is operational and works well. We never had a complaint on it as it is a larger microwave and people have liked it. The bar stool in the bedroom is actually an art work that is completely hand carved from Lagos Africa. You might not have noticed the animal carvings on the back and the hand carved legs of palm tree. Unfortunate that this was not well received by you. We feature 3 cabins built 60ft (20meters) from the river front. The Kenai River commission has mandated that no owner cut trees or modify flora and fauna within 50 ft of the riverbank. This is a wildlife and fish habitat preservation requirement. 3 out 4 of our facilities maintain a clear view of the riverfront. The end cabin which you stayed in for 2 nights is more private and does not get the river view from the cabin deck since the growth of the last 5 years. There is a nice viewing platform and fish walk which is common area for our clients. As for our pricing per night in Fall season is very competitive. You can check booking.com on line for your dates and see that you can hardly find a room in Anchorage let alone a 4 bed cabin fully self-contained on the Kenai River. I recall you did get your limits of fish both days! I hope you understand we appreciate the feedback and will do our best to see that we make it at least another 17 years without a complaint.

Fantastic
My two boys and i spent 4 nights here. The cabin was simple, with an amazing view (especially upstairs, I traded my son beds on the last night for the view and added warmth upstairs ). We did a few fishing trips and caught our limit of sockeye 3 of 4 times. We spent a good amount of time on the dock, in the rocking chairs enjoying our view. We liked our visit with the owners, and met a few other great people. They packaged our fish and even held it a couple of days longer so we could make our trip to Homer and not have to find ice storage. Super great place and people. I hope to stay here again. We did have some problems with the Internet connections, it was rough on my boys, but who cares it's Alaska -relax, explore and enjoy.

Great spot right beside the River!
We had a great time staying at Bill's cabin on the river. Although the decor was sparse, it was cozy and adequate for a dad and two of his kids. The children had fun sleeping in the loft beds. It was everything we needed for rustic couple nights on the river. Location was convenient to Soldotna and Kenai. Bill was very friendly.
