This home is located on one acre surrounded by mature pine, maple and walnut trees. Here you will have plenty of privacy with a large tree lined outdoor area to enjoy.

The cottage is nestled between the owners home, a historic farmhouse with a newly constructed addition (VRBO 9298628ha), and the original well preserved hay barn. The layout of the buildings offer plenty of privacy from the main house. I follow eco friendly landscaping practices without the use of herbicides or pesticides. Chances are you will spot a variety of wildlife and pollinators during your stay around multiple feeders and gardens I have placed on the property.

Located a half mile east of Lake Michigan and less than 2 miles directly south of historic downtown South Haven and the beautiful public beaches. Within one mile South of the cottage you can access the lake at secluded Deerlick Creek Beach Park and The Van Buren State Park is less than two miles from there. The State Park and downtown Beaches can be reached by the Van Buren Hike and Bike Trail as well, the trail is just a 1/4 mile from the driveway. So a quick 5 minute drive or 15-20 minute bike ride will get you to all the main activities South Haven has to offer.

Inside the living room is very spacious and easily accommodates the queen memory foam sleeper sofa when in use. There is one oversized chair and two upholstered chairs. Child chairs for activities on the large factory cart coffee table that easily rolls away if using the sleeper sofa. Plenty of room for playing the array of card and board games available or kicking back and movie watching. Child friendly decor.

Smart TV with all streaming platforms available, a reliable high speed WIFI with multiple XFi wifi extending pods. Painting and drawing art supplies. Postcards to send to loved ones . A retro turntable with a fun selection of albums to play. You can also type out some poetry or letters to loved ones on the antique typewriter.

I have a small portable wifi HP printer available if needed.

Kitchen is fully stocked. Two highchairs available, dishwasher, disposal, coffee grinder, toaster, microwave, gas stove, crock pot, baking dishes and ninja blender. A couple double pronged roasting forks for the bonfire.

In the pantry are lots of spices, olive oil, wine and balsamic vinegar, sugar, sweetener, decaf and medium/dark roast coffee. Take your pick of Starbucks’s Kuerig pods or drip coffee makers. There are assorted herbal teas and honey . The fridge is stocked with sandwich condiments, Michigan made jam, maple syrup, BBQ sauce for grilling. half and half and butter. S’more fixings!

There are zip lock bags, plastic wrap, paper towels and tin foil available and four ice cube trays in the freezer. Paper plates, bowls and flatware for picnicking.

Medium size propane BBQ grill, several coolers of varying sizes, 6 bicycles and helmets, plenty of beach towels, beach blankets, beach umbrella and a pop up beach sun shelter tent are available for your use. Also 4 beach chairs and 5 portable folding chairs. A collapsable wagon to tote the kids or the goods to the beach. Sand castle building toys. I will send you a detailed list of all house and recreational amenities a week before you arrive to help you prepare for your trip.

Two spacious bedrooms both featuring queen medium firm pillow top mattresses with 2'"memory foam option (you can let me know if you prefer a firmer mattress and I’ll remove the memory foam or you are welcome to remove it during your visit). Four fresh pillows per bed of medium and firm comfort level. Quality cotton linens and comforters. Both bedrooms have plenty of closet and chest of drawer space for guests. Oscillating floor fans in each bedroom and nightlights. The two bedrooms adjoin with locking sliding double doors. USB power charging digital alarm clock in each room. For your comfort I have dimmer switches on most table lamps and overhead lighting throughout the house. There is a rocking chair in the master bedroom.


The master bedroom is an addition to the original building and features an exterior door and patio. It is a lush and quiet area framed by a tranquil wooded landscape at the back of the property overlooking the organic vegetable garden which is available for guests to enjoy some seasonal fresh produce. It’s a perfect space for a game of croquette or for an evening campfire around the fire-ring with the provided firewood, a night of star gazing away from the city lights or a BBQ. There are lounge chairs and a table with seating for 6.

The large walk in master bedroom closet is perfect to outfit the provided freshly sanitized Pack and Play for your infant or toddler (2 available). There are linens for the Pack N Plays. Also located in the closet will be an iron/board, extra linens, extra bath and beach towels and extra bathroom supplies. Suntan lotion, bug spray and first aid kit, locking child door gates if needed.

Heated tile floors and an extra large walk in shower compliment the bathroom. Plenty of plush cotton towels and wash cloths. Step stool for the kids.

Stack washer-dryer with detergent, bleach, dryer sheets. Shampoo, conditioner, body soap, body lotion, lint brush, hair dryer, cotton balls and Q-tips. Shower stool is available if needed.

Central AC/Heat.

The Kal-Haven hike and bike trailhead is located downtown and is a 30 mile trail to Kalamazoo which hugs the Black River and farmland and features covered bridges and picnic spots along the path. Van Buren Trail is 1/4 mile from the house and runs approximately 5 miles from downtown to the Van Buren State Park.

Located off Phoenix Street about 3 miles away you will find a Meijers grocery, pharmacy, and home goods store and Walgreens. Meijers uses the Shipt app for home grocery delivery service which I will be happy to receive and put in-place for you prior to your check in if necessary.

I recently completed construction of an addition to the Farmhouse in duplex style of a two story one bedroom/bathroom and living-room with kitchen. This is offered as a nightly rental as well in case you have a larger party. The house accommodates 2 adults. This unit has its own private outdoor area as well. You can see it at VRBO #9298628ha
