Chez Nous Zermatt - 4 luxury apartments in same building with Matterhorn views

Angus Potter and Lizzie Orange set up Chez Nous Zermatt to offer our guests a luxury holiday rental experience that feels more personal – more like staying with a friend than in a “vacation home”.   

The Mischabel is a beautiful split level apartment on the third floor that sleeps 6 -8 people. There are 3 bedrooms (the Master Bedroom can be used as a family room to sleep 4 people) and 3 bathrooms on the upper level and a beautiful living space on the lower floor that looks straight out on to the Matterhorn.

Great care has been taken to create a truly welcoming atmosphere: the large open-plan kitchen/dining/living-room leads on to a full-width, south-facing balcony looking directly at the Matterhorn and also has a 55" home cinema system complete with all UK channels and Apple TV. The dining area comfortably seats 6 people so you can enjoy meals at home and then in the evenings (or on bad weather days) you can get cosy in front of the fire watching a film or reading your book and when it is time to sleep the beds are super-comfortable. We also make sure that "the basics" are in stock so that you can make tea/coffee and have a glass of wine without having to go shopping straight away!

If you are part of a larger group of family and friends then combining the Mischabel with one of our other apartments can allow you all to be together in the same building but free to retreat to your own space when needed. See our other listings for Le Corbassiere (sleeps 6), Le Petit (sleeps 4) and L'Etoile (sleeps 2-3).

All the Chez Nous apartments have 180 degree views straight out on to The Matterhorn, over towards Gornergrat and up the Trift valley . One of the only remaining fields in the village is just in front of us which gives a welcome feeling of space despite being so close to all the restaurants, the church bridge and the lift stations/bus.

The only practical point to bear in mind is that direct access to our building from street level (when you arrive and leave) is down 3 flights of stairs. However once your luggage is installed most guests then use the shortcut to the village via a path across the field in front of the house.

Perfect spot for a mountain holiday

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this charming flat. It had everything you could possibly need - and more - all with wonderful views of the Matterhorn. The only problem is that the house is so comfortable, you never want to leave.

Absolutely perfect

The apartment is absolutely lovely. It is furnished beautifully with lots of little luxurious touches. It has a wonderful view of the Matterhorn and is only a few minutes walk from the centre of the village. We would definitely stay there again..

Love Zermatt in the summer. Mischabel is a fantastic base to explore Zermatt and the mountains, and when you come home the view is fantastic and the apartment very comfortably furnished with all you could need. Love it!

Highly recommended

Mischabel is very convenient, fully equipped quality apartment in a good location. Owners are nice, reliable, decent people (extremely important!). Lizzie was very accommodating and helpful with various reservations. I highly recommend this place.

Perfect in every way.

Had a wonderful experience at Chez Nous. The whole family was able to gather in the living room. We cooked in a couple of nights and was no problem. Well laid out kitchen with everything we needed. Jake the concierge & ski instructor was pleasant and helpful.

Gorgeous Views & Perfect Food!

The Hosts were just amazing! They told us the best places to eat, shop, apres ski bars, what taxi service to use, rent ski equipment, etc. The location was beyond great (5-10 mis to everywhere) and the views from the unit were just stunning! No issues, no complaints, and a bucket list vacation! I would recommend this place to anyone! Thank you Lizzie & Angus!

Just perfect !

We had a fantastic stay at the Mischabel and Lizzie was extremely helpful. There was absolutely nothing missing in the apartment and the attention to detail was very impressive. Impeccably decorated with the most amazing views of the Matterhorn. I could not think of a better place to stay in Zermatt. It does not get any better than this. Thank you for a wonderful stay. Could Not be Easier!

This is a very nice apartment with incredible views of the Matterhorn! Everything we needed was right there. Easy walking distance to all of town as well as the slopes. Lizzie was a great communicator. To top it off, Lizzie had her concierge meet us at the train station with a taxi waiting! A great experience!

Wonderful Week at Chez Nous - The Mischabel

We stayed a week in the Mischabel and I can't say enough good things about it. The apartment was perfect and comfortable and with everything we needed. A perfect view of the Matterhorn out the window. Just as important, our host Lizzie went above and beyond to help us out. Before we arrived, she helped with questions, made a few dinner reservations for us, and even made plans to purchase our lift passes for us. She brought them to our apartment so that was one less thing we'd have to do on our arrival day! Thank you Lizzie for a great week.

Great apartment and great value.

We recently stayed in two apartments in this building and could not have been more pleased with our stay. Lissie did a stellar job of advising and arranging taxies for our group of nine. The units are modern, comfortable and clean. The building is in a central location and we had views of the Matterhorn form our balcony. Lizzie arranged for delivery of food as needed and on the day of departure her husband, Angus, helped get our bags to the taxies. Lissie and Angus get an A+ for making this a perfect ski holiday. I highly recommend this apartment and would definitely return there again - indeed, all of our group shared this opinion as we left for home.

Great place for a family

This apartment was clean, had everything we needed, and in a great location. Lizzie was very helpful, met us at the train station and gave us advice on hiking trails in the Matterhorn area. The bread she baked for us was delicious too! We had a wonderful time in Zermatt, and hope to come back someday. If we do, we would definitely stay at Mischabel again. Our family of 5 had plenty of room; and while we didn't stay in very much, the TV and stereo systems were state of the art. There were even 3 channels to watch the World Cup games (3 different languages). Switzerland is expensive, it is a bonus to be able to have some meals "at home" rather than in restaurants all the time. The kitchen was fully equipped, including gadgets I don't even have at home. You could prepare any kind of meal you want. Or use the list of recommended restaurants in the apartment - we tried a couple and they were very good.

Perfect in every way

Having discovered Zermatt 30 years ago we have been coming here ever since because it is such a special place and we have been lucky always to have had a positive rewarding experience staying at a small number of very comfortable and welcoming places. Now to cap it all we have found a seriously special place to match the resort , run by two equally very special people, Lizzie and Angus, who provide the finest personal , professional service and superb accommodation at an extremely good price. The apartment is immaculate and beautifully furnished with terrific space and facilities , extremely comfortable beds and similar plentiful sofas/tables/chairs along with quality well-fitted kitchen and bathrooms and high-end electronic equipment for any quiet nights in or white-out afternoons. The building is conveniently located near to all the essential action hot spots and sights but nicely set apart off the linking roads , sufficiently removed to preserve essential evening and night-time peace and quiet after a hard days skiing or a typical long Zermatt mountain restaurant lunch. We absolutely loved it and for us there is little point in looking for anywhere else to stay in the future. We would recommend Lizzie and Angus's apartments to anyone who quite simply wants the very best of everything in Zermatt at a very reasonable price ( provided there is enough space for us as well in the future).

Perfect Home for a Perfect Week

My family and I just concluded a spectacular week in Zermatt in The Mischabel apartment. From the first email inquiry many months ago, it was apparent that amazing quality of the experience would not be limited to the gorgeous, spotless flat that we were renting but rather would extend to every last detail of the visit. As a frequent and admittedly high-maintnance traveler, I tend to meticulously research all aspects of destinations. For me, that’s part of the fun of travel. As such, I was reluctant to surrender details to Lizzie…but am I glad I did. From the little things that tend to make the first day of a ski trip a hassle (particularly flying in with kids from across the ocean) such as collecting lift tickets, figuring out where to rent skis, picking up basic provisions to identifying and reserving the “go to” restaurants in Zermatt, Lizzie’s concierge work would make the Four Seasons envious and jealous. Her “secret” installation of a Christmas tree a few days before the holiday was an over-the-top touch that was the norm rather than the exception. The location was great. The core of the town of Zermatt (the main Banhofstrasse) was no more than a five or six minute walk. The stroll to the primary Matterhorn Express lift was around ten minutes but (with Lizzie’s guidance) we stored our ski stuff at the lift so the walk was in normal shoes without carrying equipment. This is obviously different that ski in/ ski out locations (which essentially does not exist in Zermatt) but for us, the trade-off of a charming village with tons of restaurants and shops (along with being able to store the skis at the lift) was worth the short walk in the morning and evening. The apartment itself was perfect - large enough to keep my two sons from killing each other and for everyone to have privacy. Totally clean and luxurious – great electronics, fully stocked kitchen, great linens, A+ water pressure and showers, easy access to washer/dyrer and killer view of the main event…The Matterhorn. Simply put, everything worked exactly as it should and it’s hard to overstate how significant that can be. It’s hard to find faults of consequence. We are currently wrestling with our general philosophy of not wanting to go back to the same place time and time again as there simply cannot be a better set-up for a ski holiday. If the smile on everyone’s face is any indication, I’m certain we will return.

The best in Zermatt !!

Chez Nous does not disappoint. The apartment is very comfortable and clean. The views of the Matterhorn are amazing, Our family of four, 2 adults and 2 teenagers, traveled to Zermatt over Thanksgiving as a last minute trip. We booked the day prior to our arrival and we’re thrilled with our choice. The apartment is very comfortable and provided space for us to be together as a family but also privacy when we wanted. The apartment is only enhanced by its host Lizzie. Thanks to her what might have been a good experience in Zermatt turned out to be amazing. SHe arranged the taxi to the village and then the electric car to the apartment. She met us upon arrival and helped us manage the steps, which were not difficult to navigate. She gave us some information and suggestions and was available to help with any questions we had. We took her advice of a guide since it was our first time skiing and were so glad we did. With Jamie from Summit Ski and Snowboard and were rewarded with an amazing day skiing in both Switzerland and Italy. Lizzie also helped with restaurant suggestions and reservations for dinner and the dinner was amazing. The apartment location, cleanliness and comfort is amazing even without the hospitality but with the added benefit of such an amazing host this has to be the best place to stay in Zermatt!! We will be back to stay on our next trip to Zermatt.

Stunning view, comfortable home, helpful hosts

My family (husband, 13, 12, and 10 year old) and I stayed in this lovely condo for the week of Carnival Break/Ski Week in 2021. Lizzie and Lou couldn't have made it easier for us to make our arrangements for a ski guide, rental equipment, pre-stocking the place with food, even arranging a special Valentine's Day Dinner to be catered. All of the above meant our vacation started the minute we walked in the door. Having never been to Zermatt before, we relied heavily on Lizzie and Lou to tell us how to arrange for transport from the car park to the transportation depot to the electric taxi to the house. They made it easy. The beds were comfortable and the condo was sparkling clean and well decorated. The view is incredible - we spent nearly every afternoon on the deck off the living room gazing up at the Matterhorn in all its glory. Although all the restaurants and shops were closed during the time we were there (for Covid measures), we were able to walk around and really enjoy the charm of the town in Zermatt, as well as take advantage of all of take out and delivery from the excellent restaurants recommended in the helpful guide that Lizzie and Lou provide. The condo is located basically in between the 2 main lifts so it isn't a very long walk either way, and the central location meant restaurants and the grocery stores were not far at all, and comfortably reached on foot even after a day of skiing! Our kids built a massive igloo in the snow in the large yard which we could see from the comfort of our deck too, so that made for some relaxing parenting. ;) The skiing in Zermatt was top notch and the mountains were glorious, all matched with the incredible hospitality from Lizzie and Lou - we will definitely be back!

Immaculate apartment in perfect location

We had a wonderful stay in this stunning apartment over New Year. We were picked up from the station, escorted to the apartment and made to feel extremely welcome from the start. We had had a lot of contact with Lizzie beforehand, who arranged lunches and dinners at a wide range of restaurants, saving us a lot of planning! Lizzie also arranged the ski instructor for the children, ski hire and, well, everything! We had the easiest skiing holiday we've ever experienced, all thanks to Lizzie. The apartment itself is extremely spacious, comfortable and luxurious in every respect. The beds were lovely, and the sitting room with its oversized sofas and large terrace was a joy. All in all we had a fantastic time, and I doubt we'll find anything in the future to compare to this experience!

Lovely apartment, good service.

We went to Apartment Mischabel with extended family. Grandparents, parents and 3 children aged 8, 6 and 4 and everything worked well for us. Location is good, very close to center of town but still quiet with a nice view to the Matterhorn. The apartment itself has a nice layout, three bedroom with each a bathroom. Everything was perfectly equipped, bathroom with lots of towels and soap/shampoo, kitchen with all you need. It's a type of apartment you can come to and you don't have to worry about whether you have to shopping immediately in order to buy a lot of the basics like toilet paper, tissues, dishwasher tabs etc. Everything is there. The apartment is really nicely decorated and furnished, lots of entertainment possibilities (TV channels, Swisscom TV, Apple TV etc.). Lizzie has been very helpful from A to Z - organizing ski school for the kids, lift passes, making restaurant reservations every day and so on. No time wasted to worry about where to go to eat. The whole stay was very relaxed. Would definitively go again if we got back to Zermatt.

Loved the whole package

The Mischabel is a beautiful 3 bedroom 3 bathroom unit that is beautifully furnished & maintained. It’s close enough to walk anywhere in the village without a hassle. Great views of the Matterhorn from the living room & main bedroom. Lizzie and Angus are dedicated people who want nothing more to make your stay as positive experience as can be. From picking you up in a taxi at the station, organising lift passes and ski lessons before you arrive, leaving Xmas presents under the tree for kids on arrival, doing a shop so milk, beer, bread, fruit & essentials were in the unit before our arrival...it is hard to find fault with anything. Great spot, great service, great memories.

Beautiful, clean apartment with all amenities and view of the Matterhorn

This apartment is perfect for 6-8 people. It is spacious with tons of natural light. Great proximity to the Center of town and a 10 min walk to Matterhorn glacier lift. Lizzie and Angus went out of their way to ensure we were well taken care of- from making all our restaurant reservations on the hill and in town, to keeping us informed about the conditions and lift closures when there were high winds. Overall, our family has traveled to many different places in the world and we can't remember having a more hospitable service from our hosts. I highly recommend “Chez Nous”, without reservation.

Cozy, with great views and great location

Lizzie made us feel very welcome, and made sure we got off to a great start by meeting us at the train and accompanying us to the apartment. It is very comfortable and has a wonderful view of the Matterhorn. The kitchen is well appointed, as is the rest of the house. Nice unexpected perks too. If we visit Zermatt again we would love to stay here again.

Great Location, Clean, Enjoyable and Relaxing

We had a great stay at this property. Lizzie made sure that we were greeted at the train station and then arranged a taxi service for all 7 of us. At the apartment, we had a lemon cake, fruit, milk, coffee and Prosecco waiting for us. That was a nice surprise, especially for the morning. We were given great suggestions on activities and where to eat. I would stay here again.

As good as it can get

Just wonderful. All the time consuming admin details were dealt with well in advance of our arriving. Lizzie and Angus had organised and given us advice on passes, ski hire, lunch and supper reservations, instructors, the Geneva train etc etc. Their apartments are wonderful. Beautifully presented with delicious soaps, very comfy beds and sofas, huge windows with no close neighbours looking in and a spectacular view of the Mattethorn to gaze at during breakfast. The children appreciated the chocolates in the boot room, the parents loved the stocked fridge ready for us and the ease, humour, efficiency and focus that Lizzie and Angus showed us in running this successful business. We cant recommend this set up enough.

The views were AMAZING and a great location!

Our trip to Zermatt was made perfect by this amazing chalet. The views from the chalet were amazing each morning, you can see the Matterhorn from the deck and windows. The apartment is beautiful inside with plenty of space and top of the line amenities. The location makes it a 5-10 minute walk to the lifts and all the restaurants and shopping. The best part about this booking is the couple who operate it, Lizzie and Angus. I reached out to Lizzie several months in advance and she made booking everything a piece of cake. She also exchanged close to 30 emails and several phone calls prior to our trip. She helped us plan every detail to our trip from rentals, restaurants, answered questions about the area, etc. Lizzie was responsive in all communication and ensured that we had all the necessary information for our trip to make it a success. The service that Lizzie provided in addition to booking was truly above and beyond. She went as far as helping us make dinner reservations and was a constant resource the entire week we were there. Lizzie and Angus made you feel as if you were part of their extended family with their attentiveness. I would highly recommend to anyone looking to stay in Zermatt to contact Lizzie.

Angus Potter and Lizzie Orange set up Chez Nous Zermatt to offer our guests a luxury holiday rental experience that feels more personal – more like staying with a friend than in a “vacation home”.   

We have deliberately kept Chez Nous Zermatt small because our experience is that a boutique, owner-managed business is the best way to ensure that our guests get a truly personal service.  We have personally furnished our holiday apartments to create an atmosphere that aims to make you feel at home from the moment you walk in.

Family commitments mean that we now divide our time between the UK and Zermatt but we have a small concierge team on the ground here who know Zermatt well and between us we will make sure you are well looked after during your stay.

Why they chose this property

Initially we ran a small b&b from our own apartment but we now have 4 apartments in this building (the Swiss laws re. foreigners buying property allowed us to buy one and lease the others) and as from Winter 2018/19, Chez Nous has 4 apartments to rent: The Corbassiere which sleeps 6 on the 3rd floor, The Mischabel which sleeps 6-8 on the 2nd floor, Le Petit which sleeps 4 on the 1st floor and now L'Etoile a 1 bedroomed apartment also on the 1st floor next to Le Petit.

We offer our guests the freedom of a self-catered holiday combined with the feel and warmth of staying in someone else's home. We have completely re-furnished the flats to create an atmosphere that aims to make you feel at home from the moment you walk in.

What makes this property unique

Our apartments are definitely more than just "a rental"; we have created an atmosphere of "home" in all of them and they are filled with lots of the personal touches that we appreciate in places we stay and want to offer our guests.
Our building sits right in the centre of the village but is unique in still having a small field in front of it which sets off the view of The Matterhorn in spectacular fashion.
