Cottage was clean and warm when we arrived, but had no soap in the bathroom, or dishcloth in kitchen, which was otherwise well equipped. The shower was set at either a too hot 42C or cool 33C.The sitting room was comfortable, as was the bed.

Just spent a week at The School House and loved it. Everything you need is there in this comfy cosy wee house, which was scrupulously clean with Covid 19 in mind. High Force is nearby and Eggleston Hall Gardens too. If you like cheese, try Teesdale Cheese Company near Copley for a wide range of cheese made on the farm and other local produce like pickles, chutneys, jams etc. I hope I can come back to the School House again Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Well equipped kitchen.

Well equipped kitchen. Very comfortable large lounge. Bedroom good with good storage. It was good for 2 people although I could image it a bit cramped for 4. We found it warm and the shower was fine. Fabulous location in the village near all amenities. Excellent walking direct from the cottage so no need to drive. On road parking can get busy but by later in the evening we could move the car to be opposite the cottage on the 2 times we used it. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Fantastic setting and cottage.

Fantastic setting and cottage. Lovely private garden (pity the weather didn't allow us to enjoy it more). Close to everything. Superb local butcher Alistair. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

We had a great time in the School House cottage.

We had a great time in the School House cottage. The cottage had everything we needed and was well equipped for a self-catered holiday. The cottage is set away from the busy road so we could barely hear the traffic. Parking is on the road but we had no trouble finding a space immediately opposite. The village has all of the amenities you will need including a Co Op, lots of cafes, two pubs and a butchers. A great base for exploring County Durham including High Force, Barnard Castle and Durham city. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Lovely small cottage / bungalow right in the heart of Middleton-in-Teesdale.

Lovely small cottage / bungalow right in the heart of Middleton-in-Teesdale. Downside was the parking, made difficult by the roadworks and a problem with the boiler (heating/water), which the caretaker needed to manually turn on morning and evening. Upside, well equipped, clean and so central to the village with its many amenities and walks. Would certainly recommend.

Loved the position of The School House in relation to village facilities.

Loved the position of The School House in relation to village facilities. Great walks around the village and alongside the river. The property was well looked after and comfortably equipped. You would need to be fairly able as there are a few steps both outside and inside to cope with. Not a huge problem but just to be aware of. All in all a lovely cottage and we are hoping to return.

This is a lovely cottage right in the heart of the village but tucked away so quiet.

This is a lovely cottage right in the heart of the village but tucked away so quiet. I would certainly recommend it to fit friends but for us it was not ideal. We were told there were two steps to the bathroom but they are actually in the bathroom with a corner basin on the first step up and a right angle turn to the very compact shower and toilet. the heated towel rail was right next to the toilet and also had to be negotiated. The caretaker Alistair is the local butcher and he was wonderful at fixing niggles such as the central heating.

Quiet location in a lovely village.

Very cosy cottage for two with an enclosed garden. Located in the village with a two pubs and restaurants next door. Very little noise from the road or village. The cottage is situated in the corner of the old cemetary. Excellent loaction for both walking or excursions by car.

Gorgeous little cottage, perfect for 2.

Gorgeous little cottage, perfect for 2. Feels tranquil and secluded but has a lovely village and beautiful countryside on your doorstep as soon as you step back through the gate. I would definitely return.
