The quaint little village of Downderry sits in the "forgotten corner of Cornwall" just 12 miles from Plymouth and right on the Southwest Coastal Path. The cottage has an unenviable position above the beach with uninterrupted views across the bay and just a 55 yard stroll to the beach. Lovingly renovated over time, it offers comfortable living, whilst keeping its original charm. The ground floor has a cosy sitting room with ample seating to watch the large TV whilst enjoying the wood burner or admiring the view from the south-facing bay window. Whether the sea is shimmering like a mirror on still days, or showing its power with crashing Atlantic waves on stormy days, its a great place to sit. The sitting room adjoins the lovely, bright, well-appointed kitchen/dining room. The first floor consists of a main double bedroom with incredible sea view and TV. The second bedroom has twin beds and looks out over the rear garden. The third bedroom has a single bed and a sea view to the east for the fabulous sunrises.
The cottage’s front garden sits immediately above the beach and is a great place for breakfast, or to watch the sun go down with a glass of wine. The rear enclosed garden has trees and shrubs. There is ample parking too.
Downderry is perfect for families and walkers alike with many cove and rock pools, plus surfing beaches a short drive away; fishing trips leave from Looe. Plymouth to the east offers plenty maritime heritage. Bodmin Moor has delightful walks and the Southwest Coastal Path comes through the village. Looe is 8 miles west and The Eden Project, Lost Gardens of Heligan and numerous heritage properties are within easy reach. The village pub is 200 yards from the cottage, serving food all day as well as live music on weekends. There is also a restaurant, which serves as a shop for essentials and café. Guests may also wish to take advantage of the community shop and cafe nearby, no more than 600 yards. Supermarkets deliver to the village.
Bed Linen and towels for hire £10 per person.

Coastguard Cottage is a lovely, quaint venue for a relaxing holiday.
Coastguard Cottage is a lovely, quaint venue for a relaxing holiday. We loved the views and the coastal path walking, not so sure what children would have done. It is a well equipped cottage but we found the comfort levels of the bed and lounge furniture a little lacking. Other than that, it was great and we loved it.

An excellent, well equipped cottage in a super location - could not get any closer to the beach.
An excellent, well equipped cottage in a super location - could not get any closer to the beach. Nicely situated in a quieter part of the Cornish coast away from the crowds. Would highly recommend.

Excellent, feels like a home rather than a holiday home.
Excellent, feels like a home rather than a holiday home. Local facilities limited; good corner shop, but pub is closed and the restaurant too expensive for regular meals. You can walk along the beach to Seaton, but not much there. However, it is ideal for a getaway. Only 4 hours driving from Surrey, go round the M4 rather than the A303.
