Beautiful home and property. Responsive owner. Can’t think of a better place to stay in Eastport and we’ve been vacationing there for the past 11 summers!
Home was beautiful and fully stocked with amenities. The gardens and beach were gorgeous. Our family and friends enjoyed the privacy and spectacular views of the water. One of the nicest rentals we've ever experienced.
Beautiful property. Host (Mary) was wonderful to communicate with. Truly an enjoyable getaway for a family gathering. Residents in Eastport, Maine are extremely welcoming. Not enough positive things are said about “northern hospitality!” Thank you Mary, and thank you to the residents of Eastport, Maine!
This is a gem of a place. We could not have been happier. Gorgeous setting. Eastport was a lovely town to have coffee or peruse the bookstore. We walked the beach, played cards, ventured out for hikes. It was the best.
We had an amazing time! The house was beautiful- exceeded expectations! The views were incredible! We did a lot of exploring. We saw moose, seals, and eagles in the area. We will plan to come back!
All the comforts of home and then some. Watching the changing tides as well as the eagles were definitely a high light of our stay. Enjoyed the games in the house on the rainy days and the fire stove on the cold nights. Found sea glass at some nearby beaches and explored into Canada. Great communication and very accurate listing. Would love to come back again.
Kudos to Host Mary!!!
Excellent accommodations!!! Charming, comfy, convenient to restaurants and shopping in Eastport. The house is beautifully decorated with ample seating inside and outside on the spacious porch. Especially appreciated how well equipped the house was right down to tissues in every room! The kitchen had everything you could need or want. The selection of wine glasses was a perk.
A lovely property with a homey feel and an amazing view. It was well stocked with everything we needed to cook family meals even a large pot for lobster boils. We appreciated it was only 3 steps to get in the house with bathroom grab bars for toilets and showers. There are 2 bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs but for family members with limited mobility, all the common areas are on the ground floor with just one small step down to get on the deck. We will definitely stay there again.
We really appreciated this spacious, bright, updated, charmingly-decorated home looking out at the water from a bluff in Eastport. Mary the owner was very communicative and the house was an excellent base to explore the last undeveloped area of the American eastern seaboard (and a beautiful area at that). There were only minor issues w/ the property: the pots/pans were in need of an update, some of the rooms were dark at night and could use more lamps, and the path to the beach was rather overgrown. But overall we were very pleased and we certainly hope to return!

Lovely and peaceful Oceanside retreat
We stayed in the Maine house for a week at the end of August with four adults and 2 children. The house is beautiful, well cared for and stocked with everything guests might need. The water view from the back deck never gets old and we were able to spot bald eagles and seals in the cove. My two boys loved exploring the beach every day, hunting for crabs, urchins and other sea treasures. We also enjoyed exploring downtown Eastport as well as Lubec, Campobello Island and St. Stephen-by-the-sea. The spectacular scenery and the chance to spot whales in the bay captivated us all. We truly enjoyed our week at this lovely home and were sad to leave.
Best VRBO property experience ever. Best property and location and we enjoyed our trip tremendously. Eastport was the perfect, relaxing getaway and the house and property were amazing. We felt like guests at a friend’s home.
The property was as advertised - many house amenities - well stocked with kitchen, bath and outdoor activity supplies. Lovely view and we had great weather for the end of September. The owner, Mary, was very responsive. Late season is a little tricky if you want to dine out during the week. Not much opened other than on weekends. Plan ahead for that.
Staying at Mary’s was such a delight! The house was perfect! We saw seals, pilot whales, eagles and of course numerous loons from the deck. And being able to catch a glimpse of the Old Sow whirlpool from the house was also such a treat! The house had everything we needed and more. We’re already planning on coming back next year!
This house accommodated my family of 7 very comfortably. The kitchen was well stocked (an important detail for me) and the house even had a myriad of cookbooks to pursue while we relaxed. The view from the back deck is absolutely stunning! We spent almost all of our time out there. We watched a bald eagle fly over our heads every afternoon around 3pm and we watched seals play in the water. The kids loved walking the beach and finding sea urchins, sand dollars and crabs. We will certainly rent this wonderful house again!
We had such a lovely week at Mary’s house! We were so comfortable in the house and the kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed. Thanks for sharing your lovely home with our family!
Mary was very communicative and answered all of our questions in a timely manner. Everything was perfect!
The Maine house is as close to perfect as you can get! It is in a beautiful location with outstanding views. Nothing is better than waking up in the morning, lifting up your head slightly, and looking at the sunrise over the water. We loved sitting on the deck and watching the birds and porpoises. Such a beautiful setting!!
The house itself was well appointed and felt very homey. Anything we needed was provided. It was very comfortable. We thought The Maine House was easily the nicest vacation rental we've ever had. We will be back!!!
Beautiful home in a beautiful location. Well stocked kitchen allows you to eat in and enjoy the view.
Several great hikes nearby.
The house is well designed and provides good space to gather as a group but also offers ample opportunities for privacy.
Watching whales in the bay. Eagles soaring over the bay. A very private property with a view of the bay looking across into canada. The nearby town was charming, and the locals were nice. Wonderful art. The property owner was very helpful letting us know what there was. Loved every minute of the trip.
It’s one of the best homes we’ve stayed at—very well equipped kitchen and lovely, large bedroom full of windows, and a great deck facing the bay. Great stay overall. And we fell in love with Eastport!

About the host
Hosted by Mary Davidson
I grew up in Maryland and our family drove to Maine every summer for vacation. Time spent there made for the best memories. I recently bought the house from my parents to keep it in the family.
Why they chose this property
My parents purchased the land in the 70s and then my dad built the house and crafted every cabinet inside. A labor of love that we would like to share with you.
What makes this property unique
The views are spectacular showcasing both sunrise and sunset. The bay has 25 foot tides- watch the amazing change from low to high tide, right from the house. Walking the beach, climbing the rocks, berry picking and clamming have always been my favorite pastimes while visiting.
