About this property

Contemporary cottage for 2 people (plus baby) in rural setting near to Falmouth

We are a small farm, now non-working except for a few chickens, four sheep and our friendly dog Meg. The two cottages, Rose and Bryony, were converted in 2011 from former cowsheds by the architect Nigel Stock, and are furnished with furniture from Mark Product - our expanding high end furniture business. The design is contemporary with wooden floors and fresh colours. All amenities are new and to a high standard. The cottages are all on one level with views across fields and each has a private west-facing deck with seating and barbecue. You are free to roam over our eight acres with a stunning view from the top taking in the span of Cornwall from north to south coasts.
Flexibility in accommodation is available for larger family or friends group as we have an adjoining door that will enable you to access both cottages.
For children we have a field with a swing and trampoline sunk into the ground, treehouse and lots of space to explore and make dens. We are also close to many of Cornwall s finest beaches on the north, south and west coasts. The towns of Falmouth, Truro and Penryn are all close by. A perfect base for a Cornwall holiday.

We are John and Kathryn Miller, we have 3 children, Rosie, Eve and Charlie.

We moved to Higher Lidgey in 2005 from east London. It had been in the same family for many years. Kathryn runs her own HR Development business and works for Falmouth University. John is a director of furniture company MARK Product. We are a typically busy family!

Why they chose this property

What we loved about this property was its seclusion whilst still being very accessible. It is a proper rural area - the real Cornwall, not a tourist honeypot. However it is so close to beaches, amazing walks and in between the towns of Truro and Falmouth.

What makes this property unique

Because the owners are on-site the properties are very well looked after and we are available if there are any problems. We also make sure the cottages are warm and cosy and there is fresh milk, flowers and wine for you when you arrive.

In spite of this convenience, most visitors won't see anything of us while you are here as the cottages have independent access and face away from our farmhouse.

We have 8 acres, away from the road, which you are free to roam (livestock permitting which occasionally use 6 of the acres).

The cottages are brand new conversions of old farm buildings, and very high specification in terms of design, comfort and furnishings.

You can rent one or both of the properties. We find some of our returning guests often do this. Grandparents or friends stay in one cottage and the family in the other. You have your own seclusion but can get together very easily as and when you want to!
