Great veiws

Couple stayed for 4 nights during winter. Views are fantastic. House needs attention. One of the reasons for selecting here was the mention of an open fire. This had been boarded up prior to our arrival - too many incidents with previous occupants. Premises has under floor heating but to expect it to warm up turning it on arrival just doesn't work. Other stand alone electric heater took the chill off but that was all. Wifi didn't work. Shower extremely small in size. I could mention numerous other small problems, some of which were address when mentioned but being realistic the place is getting old and until it has a renovation would find somewhere else.
Response from VrboOwner on 22 Mar 2020
The house was built in the 70's and is marketed as such on our web site. That means standard shower units for the period etc. A tap was leaking badly and fixed during their stay. A couple of days before these guests arrived I was doing some work in the bedroom with the ensuite that had a seriously leaking hot water tap that they brought to my attention. After doing what I had to do I washed my hands and there was no problem. When I repaired the tap at the request of the guests the washer had split. Sometimes these things happen all by themselves but more usually as the result of somebody with greater strength than me screwing the tap down harder than they should. I expect the latter because I only checked the washers and washer seats about a month before and finding the seats OK replaced only the washers. I really do not wish to be put out of business on the basis of a tap washer! The comment in relation to heating is also unacceptably unfair. As well as underfloor heating there is at least one spare heater in every room at the property for instant heat. The heaters in the lounge, dining room and kitchen are all over 2 kilowatt. The lounge and kitchen heaters are 4 kw or greater. Thank you to the guest for pointing out to us that somewhere out there, possibly out of our control somebody is mentioning the fire place. There is no reference to an open fire on our web site and has not been for some time and I do not know which of the OTO's are making this claim. We will endeavor to discover and remove (if we can) any reference to it. The problem is that we cannot expose guests to the risks associated with open fires and information about the property propagates outside our control. The WifFi was off for a period and I know it was then working because the guests confirmed this to me on the 30th July 2016. It is therefore unfair to say the WiFi was not working. A great deal of work is going on connecting up the Glenorchy area on the NBN and there have been outages and I assume they experienced one. On behalf of NBN Co. Telstra and a host of other contractors I apologise!

Awesome views and large house

We had a great stay and would recommend this house for location and views of Derwent River. P
Response from VrboOwner on 22 Mar 2020
Unfortunately this review stops after P in the second sentence. Given the nice words in the first sentence perhaps the writer would be kind enough to complete so I can make a more relevant comment, especial given the low ratings compared to those given by everybody else. Objective rather than totally subjective comment is more appropriate,

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Derwent Retreat and would recommend it to anyone. Every time we walked around the extensive gardens we found something new and the views were to die for.
