We absolutely loved our stay at the Highland Cottage. The check in process could not have been easier, we were greeted to such a clean space with homemade cookies waiting for us. The cottage does so much with the space, it felt so comfortable! It was incredibly well stocked with a full spice rack, pots, pans, butter, extra bedding, games. Everything you could want and more. Cathy and Ted were so welcoming and a pleasure to talk to. We were grateful to have met them and hear about the history of their Cottage and Inn. It was walking distance from anything in the village, we didn’t use the car other than to drive to our hiking trailheads. When looking to plan a return trip to Lake Placid, we will work around dates that will allow us to stay at the cottage again. I can’t imagine staying elsewhere in the future. Thank you, Highland Cottage!
Highland cottage is a beautiful slice of lake placid. This is my second time staying here and I will definitely come again. It is walking to main Street and a short drive to the high peaks. Lots of amenities.
We had a great winter break in the cottage. The location couldn't be any better! The cozy little cottage was the perfect fit for our family of 4. Thank you for providing us with a great place for our vacation!
Highland Cottage is a great local stay in Lake Placid. Yes, the bed is up in the loft and you can’t stand up, but that was no issue for us. We loved the place and will be back.
Super cute, quaint cottage a close walk to Main Street in Lake Placid. It was much bigger than we anticipated. We enjoyed our stay. Bed is upstairs in a loft, so we had to basically crawl in and out of it but we didn’t mind. Loved the bathroom, kitchen, and living room area. Perfect for a getaway. Highly reccommend staying here.

We stayed here with my family for Lake Placid Ironman and this place is perfect for it. It comfortably suit our family of 4 (my wife, myself and our two kids age 5 and 8) plus my TT bike and all my triathlon gear.
Cathy, the host, is great and responds quickly to messages. I would stay here again for sure.

Catherine was easy to communicate with and a lovely host. I’d stay at the cottage again any time we’re innLake Placid - fantastic spot!
Just loved everything about this place! The cabin has everything you can possibly need- and then some! Location is perfect and peaceful. Cathy is a wonderful host- super responsive and accommodating. Enjoyed every minute.
We've been visiting Lake Placid for years and with one exception have always stayed at the Highland Cottage.
Cathy Blazer is the best host and has always provided us with a comfortable and memorable stay! Thanks as always Cathy!
Cathy ensured we felt like at home in her Cottage. We were welcomed by a warm house on a cold winter day, cookies on the table and a letter with helpful tips and instructions. House is fully furmished with pots/pans, mattreses, pillows, music, wifi, dishes, even sugar and flower. Loved loved loved our stay and will book it next year as well :)
This little cottage was perfect for our long weekend stay! So many homey touches made us feel comfortable. The interior was rustic Adirondack. A short walk (uphill) from downtown. Very convenient.
It was our second time there and it was better than we remembered! The cottage is cozy, clean and stocked with more than we could have asked for! Love the area and so nice to park your car and leave it there! We walked to downtown Lake Placid and Mirror Lake! Beautiful area and wonderful cottage! Thank you McKenzie for welcoming us with the delicious chocolate chip cookies! Would highly recommend this cottage👍😊
This spot was exactly what we were looking for on our short mountain biking trip in Lake Placid. East walk into town, really close to the trails, and even some friendly neighborhood cats stopped by to say hi.
The Highland Cottage is adorable and fitted with everything you could possibly need. Catherine was attentive and flexible with requests. The location is perfect for walking to shops, bars and restaurants as long as you’re okay with the hill. For us, it was a great workout and a fabulous vacation!
This place is perfectly located to enjoy all Main Street has to offer without having to find parking. Walked to everything. The “bedroom” was the only thing that we didn’t like. It’s a tiny little loft space more suitable for a kid to sleep so we slept on the couch. Bathroom was great, kitchen worked well. Will be back
Just lovely - the cabin is just so cute on a nice quiet street. A real short walk and you are in town for shopping and dining. We enjoyed easy access to hikes just a short drive out from town with beautiful scenery all around. Plenty of cookware in the kitchen if you care to cook! And the bed is very comfy. The hosts, Cathy and Ted, are quick to respond if you have a question and delightful to deal with. Very relaxing! We had a wonderful time!
Address was incorrectly listed on check in as 38... actual address is 42. Once we found it, we were trying to locate access information until we found the note in the door. The bedroom area has an extremely low ceiling. which as a 6'2", 300+ pound gentlemen, made it extremely difficult to get to. All the other ammenities were great. I would have loved to see a futon or another sleeping option on the mid-loft area.

Tons of cobwebs and dustbunnies. Refrigerator was leaking into the floor. Deck in poor condition. I wouldn’t be comfortable permitting my family to sit out there. Deck furniture coverings were filled with rain water. Birdbath was also filled with water and mosquito larvae. Overall, things are rundown. The location was convenient to the village and it was quiet. Lastly, the loft, which is the main sleeping quarters, is very stuffy.
An amazing transformation from a single-story building to a three level, comfortable, spacious cabin, filled with solid wood furnishings in a rustic Adirondack style. Many pieces are of antique quality. Modern appliances, all the dishes, pans etc. you could want complete the picture. The property is on a quiet lane, off a road, surrounded by trees. This makes it very quiet. A three-minute walk down Marcy Street takes you to Lake Placid high street, where there are many shops, bars and restaurants. (It is better to walk back on Hillcrest after dinner, as this is the least steep option!) There is a paved sidewalk around Mirror Lake with many fine views. At just under three miles, it is the perfect stroll to wake up in the morning, or to work up an appetite at night. Hannaford is a large supermarket just outside of town, with a huge range of artisan, organic, free range etc. products. Aldi at Saranac Lake has a smaller range, but also good quality, and is rather less expensive. I had a great time here and feel “recharged.” Thanks Cathy and Ted. Oh, and the cookies were delicious!
I was in Lake Placid with my two teenage daughters who were there to skate at the Olympic Center.
The cottage was in a great location for us, just a short walk up the hill from the rinks and the village.
Along with other houses, the cottage sets back on a quiet road off the main road which makes it a very relaxing place to be even though the busy shops and restaurants are close by.
The cottage is lovely, clean and comfortable. Cathy is wonderful to communicate with and has thought of everything guests could possibly need or need to know when staying there. The kitchen and bathroom are well-stocked with anything you would need. There are plenty of towels, extra pillows and blankets as well as drawer and closet space. Cathy has a binder in the living room that includes helpful information about the area.
The cottage has a couple different levels and a loft, which truly adds to its charm along with decor that makes you feel at home.
It was warm and humid when we were in Lake Placid, but we were very comfortable in the cottage with the air conditioner downstairs and the fan in the loft. There is also a fireplace in the living room which I imagine would be very cozy if you were there during the colder months.
We enjoyed our stay very much and would highly recommend the cottage!!
