Jo was very welcoming and great with communication. The accommodation was clean and quite spacious, with plenty of kitchen ware and everything we needed. All age groups we're catered for and the three living spaces were great. We loved our stay here and have rebooked.
We loved our stay, location was amazing for the shops and beach. House was very comfortable and had everything we needed.Great communication and instructions from the host before arrival.
A lovely place for my 80 parents and I to stay for a few days. Close to town (walking distance for me and a very short drive to eating places, shops etc) .We stayed lovely and cool using the ceiling fans as the weather was warm. Plenty of accessible things to do in Queenscliff. Fine array of books and DVDs to amuse ourselves with in the heat of the afternoon. Very quiet location. Thanks for a lovely stay, Jo!
Close to town and lots of heaters and a fireplace to stay warm.
A lovely quirky house that we made our own for the weekend. We could mainly walk everywhere, which was convenient. Lots of tea's to choose from on arrival but no coffee or even a little milk in the fridge, so had to do a quick trip to the shop.
Also no hair dryer, so pack one if theres a few girls in the house.
Overall a great place to stay.

Hi Illona.
Thanks for your feedback. We hope you enjoyed your weekend. Queenscliff is a lovely place and being able to walk to the Main Street in under 5 mins from the cottage makes it easy to explore.
From the beginning we decided not to provide coffee as we want our guests to experience the fabulous cafes that queenscliff have to offer and support the local economy. They can do it so much better than we can. Guests of course are welcome to bring their own supplies that they prefer.
You mentioned no milk supplied. As a self contained property, providing food is not a requirement. Guests bring everything they need. Sometimes hosts do provide little extras to make that first arrival easier as we do. Salt, sugar, pepper salt. Sometimes that’s all you get. We also provide cooking oil, glad wrap, foil, baking paper, tea. We could I guess leave long life milk but as we feel that quality product detracts from our overall impression, we haven’t done so in the past 12 years. No one else has ever commented on that.
As for a hairdryer, the risk to life in bathrooms is not something we’re willing to take on given where a hairdryer would be plugged in. Guests are always welcome to bring their own. Maybe check the list of inclusions of the property you’re visiting before you go next time. We do not list a hairdryer as provided.
Hopefully these very minor details did not detract from your overall holiday. But we’ll certainly consider how we can work with your concerns and future guests expectations.
Thanks.
Had a lovely stay with my sisters and neice. The property is a bit quirky but very comfortable and in a lovely part of Queenscliff. I would happily stay again.
Hi Francis. So sorry to hear your enjoyment of CARM Cottage was affected by your COVID diagnosis. It’s not what any of us want for long awaited holidays. Glad to hear you at least enjoyed the house and Queenscliff while you were there before you got sick. Jo
We had a great holiday exploring the Bellarine peninsula.
The house was big enough for 7 of us with 3 living areas, a nice garden and a large outdoor setting .
The kitchen is well equipped and the house is centrally located.
It's a quiet spot and an easy, flat walk into town or to Swan Bay and to several beaches.
The nearby bike trails are also great.
The property manager was helpful and responds quickly.
The beds were comfortable and we hired linen which was quality.
We recommend this property.

About the host
Hosted by Jo O'Byrne
We’re a Melbourne family of 6 who outgrew apartments for family holidays. We decided to find somewhere that would allow us to lay down roots and hopefully become a place that out family and their families would enjoy for generations. We love the Bellarine for its diversity, it accessibility and its lack of intensity. Here we can relax instead of recreating our Melbourne lives when we leave town.
Why they chose this property
We loved Queenscliff the first time we visited when our children were very young. We came over on the ferry at the end of a Mornington peninsula holiday week and immediately noticed the lack of crowds, the slower pace and the ease of getting around. We chose CARM Cottage after searching online for a while. It’s location sold us. So easy to get to everything but not too close to feel crowded. And we made it feel like somewhere we could just be.
What makes this property unique
CARM Cottage is an oasis of calm in our increasingly busy world. We step through the door, drop our bags and succumb to the slower pace it demands. We spend an afternoon lazing on the daybed on the sunroom reading or in the hammock under the jacaranda tree in the backyard. Or we walk to the beach for a swim or to the fish and chip shop for dinner. Either we explore the local wineries, galleries, and boutique clothing stores or do nothing at all. In winter, we light the fire, grab a drink and relax. For us, it’s our happy place. For a weekend or longer, it could be yours too.
