The property was amazing. The view was outstanding, there was always something to see. We were 8 adults and were very comfortable here. It had everything we needed. The parking was a little tricky for an 8 passenger van but we managed.
Great place to stay in the Battery area. Perfect size for 4 adults and 3 children. Will book again for sure. A bit more patio furniture would have been good but other than that it was wonderful.
This is our first home rental where we actuslly got everything as advertised or promised by the owner, and more. Great location, Thank you very much.what aview

The dogberry cottage was the perfect place for our group of friends to stay while visiting newfoundland. There was 7 of us in total and more than enough room. The cottage is kept immaculately clean and offers excellent views of the harbor. The host Rochelle is overly accommodating and very friendly. I would highly recommend the dogberry cottage, I know we'll be back!

Fantastic
Accommodations were amazing. Clean, well stocked with everything you would expect and more. Bedrooms were spacious and beds super comfy. Upstairs bathroom door stuck, we were worried that we would break the handle opening it so we just left is slightly open.
We were on vacation with others that stayed in 3 other locations close by in and around St.John`s and we had by far the best accommodations.
Thanks for a fantastic first experience using VRBO.

Wonderful accommodations and location in St John’s. Place had 3 floor with two balconies overlooking the St John’s Harbour and very nicely decorated. Within walking distance of the coffee shop and community grocery store as well as the downtown core. Also situated along the trail taking you to Signal Hill. Sounds from the harbour we’re not an issue sleeping. If you are driving a full size truck I recommend backing your truck down the Top Battery road as there will be no place to turn around if the parking lot is full and you’ll never make the sharp right turn to go down Top Battery Rd anyway. Otherwise a lovely place to stay and was amazing watching the ships come and go.
Our family of five - parents and three adult children - came together for a family vacation in St. John's. It was absolutely perfect and the VRBO home was a key part of the fun. It was exactly as described. The location in Battery Bluffs was ideally situated for the walks on Signal Hill and to downtown. The views of the working harbour were awesome as we watched the working ships and cruise ships transit the Narrows and into the harbour. Morning coffee and evening drinks on the deck were the routine of each day!
We would very highly rate this VRBO home. It is 5 stars plus, plus!!
Great value for money spent. Funky neighbourhood. Great decks (2) facing right onto harbour. Furnished in rather bland way but comfortable. Two small bathrooms for 4 moderate-sized double rooms (and only 1 for 3 bedrooms on upper floor) may be less utility for some (i.e. independent couples) than others (families). Keep in mind that the harbour is a working harbour such that a peaceful seat on the deck, a la Caribbean, is not entirely realistic due to trucks, dozers, workers etc., all doing their daily routine relatively nearby. Easy walk to town and easy access to (at times harrowing) East Coast trail to top of Signal Hill. All said and done, I enjoyed my stay there solo and even for n=1 value was good and for n=8 it would be great value.
My husband and I have rented many properties over the years and this was the best. The property is exactly as described and other reviewers have noted. Right on the harbour and the views were fantastic. With a car, we were close to everything. I was most impressed that there were plenty of extra towels, extra t-towels, lots of hot water and space to relax after visiting. The place is extremely well kept. Lots of great pots and pans, dishes and glasses. Having bought a few groceries, we were disappointed not to have bought some plastic bags to wrap the left-over cheese in after lunch. Later we found in the bottom drawer, Saran Wrap, aluminum foil and even parchment paper. Thank you Rochelle. We were there during Hurricane Larry. We appreciated Rochelle phoning to ensure we had everything and to tell us that there was a flashlight. We would never have bothered to look for it, if she had not mentioned. The coffee was great, too. We enjoyed our stay very much, and would recommend this cottage to all.
An excellent stay in a beautiful house overlooking the harbor. Effortless communication with Rochelle. Plenty of space, immaculately clean, and conveniently located. Could not have been better. Thanks, Rochelle!
We loved the location of this property. Within walking distance to a lot of the places we wanted to go to and the view of the harbour at night is breath taking.
There was 7 of us at this rental so the 4 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms was great. Bedding and beds are nice and cozy! Nice clean place to hang out.
This was a fun, well appointed and comfortable spot to stay. Close to hikes but a little ways from downtown. Could walk, but it is about 1/2 hour. We liked the view of the harbour, always something going on. Would recommend for those who want something a little different.
Loved our stay, location was great, easy walk to downtown and the Battery Cafe was just a 5 minute walk, Signal Hill trails were just outside our door. Home was clean and cosy, loved it!
Home was very clean, comfortable, modern. Great view of harbor from spacious sunny deck. We enjoyed seeing and hearing the supply ships slowly cruise in and out. Nice residential location with hiking trails around signal hill area just a 10 minute walk away. Walk downtown in 10 minutes. I would rent this home again in a heart beat.
Good view, conveniently located, well maintained, clean and tidy, nothing more to ask for. Will definitely recommend to my friends.

Why they chose this property
Outport living in the City. Views, walking trails, historic sites, unique city life and a beautiful home....what more could you wish for?
What makes this property unique
St. John's, our province's capital, is the perfect combination of big-city luxury and small-town charm. As the oldest and most easterly city in North America, this is where heritage lives. Melded with culture, history, and personality, St. John's has survived two World Wars, five centuries, countless hardships and triumphs. It's become a rare, old city full of character, experience and charisma, with a contemporary, sophisticated edge.
Wander down the narrow, criss-crossing streets carved by horse and carriage over 100 years ago. Pass the colourful jellybean row houses wedged together in every space lining the sides of steep hills and hidden alleyways. Once you've meandered down to the working harbour of the waterfront, look towards the Narrows and imagine a time when the waters were brimming full with fishing schooners.
Visit Quidi Vidi, our charming village-within-a-city, which still embodies the spirit of an old fishing outport. Then, hike up nearby Signal Hill through the famous Battery, where tiny wooden homes still cling valiantly to cliffsides ravaged by ocean waves. The unmistakable, iconic Cabot Tower guards the top of Signal Hill, where military men guarded our shores throughout the 1700s and 1800s. Here, Marconi famously received his first transmission across the Atlantic in 1901. Look out over the cliffs and watch the city's harbour and captivating skyline spread out before you. Perched on the top of the horizon is The Rooms, home to our provincial museum, art gallery and archives, standing next to the striking twin clock towers of the Basilica of St. John the Baptist.
As you explore the history of this place, shop at the many fine boutiques, shops, cafés, restaurants, pubs, and art galleries lining our streets. In the evening, sit back, relax, and enjoy live music or local theatre where actors will whisk you away to another place and time.
