Our 3 night stay was just magnificent,we enjoyed the outlook from the back deck of the property.Relaxing in the outdoor spa whether it be day or night was calming & tranquil.Agnes is very informative of all the local Restaurants & community which is always very helpful. There are a great number of music CD’s & movie CD’s to keep you entertained if need be.
The only draw back to the area of Bellingen is mobile phone service is crap & we didn’t have any reception at our accommodation. The only negative comment we have is the Webber BBQ on the deck had rat poo all over the hot plate & we as guest shouldn’t be responsible for cleaning that away.
We still would love to return in the foreseeable future 🙂
outstanding hospitality and communications. Comprehensive information about local attractions. Pristine surroundings and many thoughtful provisions. Luxurious and comfortable space. Bellingen itself is lovely and eclectic with an interesting range of boutiques and many wonderful dining opportunities and experiences. We loved our stay.
A big thank you to Agnes and Geoff for a wonderful time at their delightful cottage in Bellingen. The bed was so comfortable and the entire place was really beautiful. It was more spacious than it appeared in the advertising and the cakes and nibblies that Agnes made for us were delicious. Hope we can come back another time.
My partner & I stayed here over a weekend with our 2 year old son. It was absolutely beautiful & we were warmly greeted by Agnes, who manages the property. We were spoilt with a slice of humming bird cake on arrival which my partner stated was the BEST cake he has ever eaten! The outside spa was amazing & also the cleanliness of the property. Thank you so much for having us & we look forward to our next stay at Afterglow :)

Perfect romantic get away
Very clean, spacious cottage with a nice grassy valley leading to a small creek behind it. There are two cottages on the property but they are seperate and private. The owners were very lovely and the wine they left was very nice. We had a fantastic time thank you.

Great little cottage to relax and unwind. We stayed in the "dairy" and it was like having our own little flat. Very clean and had everything we needed. You have to drive to the town (only 5 mins), but with a kitchen and BBQ at the cottage that wasn't a problem for us. The champagne on arrival was a lovely touch and had us relaxing on the verandah within minutes.
About the host
Hosted by Geoff Low + Agnes Low
We met in Melbourne in the late 1990s, when we were both in our early forties. Agnes relocated to Melbourne from Geelong, where she had spent most of her life, and we bought a house together in the inner suburb of Thornbury.
Geoff’s career was spent working in media and marketing for the Victorian government, mainly for conservation and tourism agencies, while Agnes has many years experience working in fashion and lighting design, as well as retail management.
Increasingly tired of the stresses of city life, we decided that the next chapter of our lives would be to own and manage a small tourist accommodation business in a beautiful part of Australia. After lots of research and visiting many regions along the east coast, we both felt that Bellingen would be the perfect place to realize our future dreams.
Halfway between Sydney and Brisbane and only thirty minutes from Coffs Harbour, it’s a vibrant and fascinating country village in a lush and picturesque river valley.
A short drive to the west leads to the World Heritage rainforest and waterfalls of the Dorrigo plateau and twenty minutes east brings you to the unspoilt surf beaches of the Coffs Coast.
Why they chose this property
We wanted to find a property within five kms of town so that our guests would be within easy distance of all that Bellingen has to offer, yet enjoy luxury and tranquility in a beautiful natural setting.
We visited Bellingen in early 2003 and within a couple of days we had found what would become Afterglow Cottages – a comfortable farmhouse four kms from town on 30 acres of lush green hills and native forest, with an old dairy and a small creek running through the property.
Fortunately we were able to purchase the property, and rented it out until we had saved enough to build our tourist cottages. When we finally arrived in 2009, we immediately set to work – landscaping, clearing weeds, building a new driveway and completely transforming the old dairy into our first cottage.
In early 2010 we started building our second cottage, and we opened for business on Christmas Day of that year.
What makes this property unique
We hope we have created a welcoming and tranquil piece of paradise for our guests - stylish and comfortable accommodation surrounded by the inspiring sights and sounds of nature.
The cottages are designed and aligned to take advantage of the gorgeous views across our valley, and to guarantee seclusion and privacy for our guests.
It’s a perfect setting for just lazing in the spa or relaxing on the deck watching the native birdlife and wallabies grazing nearby.
And all the delights of Bellingen are only five minutes away.
