Eurunderee Post Office History
The first Eurunderee Post Office was established in the 1870s. It was located three kilometres north of the Old Post Office Cottage in the home of Henry Lawson’s father, the first postmaster. The ruins of the home can still be visited today.
The Post Office moved to the its current location in the 1920s where it operated until 1961. The cottage also included the Eurunderee telephone exchange, servicing the local community. As testament to its rich history, the current owners preserved the old post office located at the front of the Old Post Office Cottage.
The Roth family moved to the Mudgee region in the early 1800s, forming a significant part of Mudgee’s early history. Adam Roth established the Craigmoor Vineyard in 1858 (now Oatley Vineyard and Restaurant).
The Post Office Cottage was built for the Roth family by George Muller. Edna Riddle, granddaughter of Adam Roth, lived in the cottage until 1999. Her mother had been the postmistress during the period the Post Office was operating.
The house was fully renovated and extended in 2013.

Very well stocked kitchen, outdoor areas stocked too eg firewood firestarters, all towels linen included, no fuss when leaving the property. Yeah it was all really easy, no headaches. Really nice old house if you like history which I do.
Beautiful home in the most peaceful surroundings on the edge of a vineyard. The house was immaculately clean, beautifully furnished and stocked with everything we could need
Our stay at Anita's place was exceptional. The kitchen was very well equiped with all staple foods available. The house very clean and the beds were very comfortable.

This is a wonderful property. The location is fabulous, just outside Mudgee with views across the vineyards. The house is a truly comfortable, well appointed home with a great kitchen and outdoor spaces. Our host was responsive to communications and we really appreciated the extra touches like the welcome wine, milk etc. Would absolutely recommend.

Lovely quite position but only minutes to town. Wine vines all around the property, a beautiful outlook. Cottage itself was lovely old charm, very clean and very well equipped. We enjoyed our stay and would return.
Beautifully decorated, immaculately clean & quality linen. The gardens were lovely & the wooden bar overlooking the garden was just the place to sit, relax & enjoy a glass of wine after a big day at the wineries. The inclusions in the property were all first class & the additional extras were very welcome.

Enjoyed a lovely time staying in this stunning Mudgee Gem. Private, surrounded by vineyards, close to wineries and well equipped. The communication and recommendations from the host were spot on. An enjoyable stay from start to finish.
Classic property in a great spot. Everything you want is in the house and it’s very comfortable. 5mins from the town of Mudgee and 4 mins to beautiful Lowe Winery.
Wow - what a fantastic place to stay for a weekend in Mudgee. Our family enjoyed two wonderful nights which couldn't have been better for us to all be together in a family friendly environment. There were three beautifully renovated and restored bedrooms to its former glory which felt that we had stepped back in time, but with all the modern cons. It was so clean with modern appliances throughout, warm heating, gas fire, all the home comforts you could wish for. The kitchen was generously stocked, and we had a welcome surprise with eggs, bacon, milk, break and wine we found in the fridge on our arrival. The position is just out town, which was perfect for us for peace and quiet and situated right next to a vineyard. The property manager was regularly in touch to see how we settled in - it was such a seamless process. Thank you for your wonderful hospitality and for making our stay so memorable.
We had a great stay, it was a lovely oasis from the heat and chaos. My only comment would be as a wishlist; the addition of a fence (to keep the dog off the road) and a pool to combat the heat! We will come again.
My family and I very much enjoyed our stay here! The perfect combination of modern and old country touches, and fantastic location with a close drive to Mudgee township, and within walking distance to some awesome resturants and cellardoors.
I would be very happy to stay here again.
