Comfy and bright cottage on 2 acres, surrounded by views of hills and large dam
About Bronwyn Reid
I have lived in Melbourne, Sydney (mostly living and attending school at Chatswood) and Adelaide; and rurally for about 25 years now. While my beloved Sydney (Harbour) is still within easy reach (delightful train journey up the coast), the lifestyle and beauty of this Jervis Bay region is very hard to beat, and there is always somewhere new to explore. I am working my way through the local tourism's "100 Beach Challenge" (up to about 50 at time of writing). I love travel, photography, reading, crafts, my pets, and living in this wonderful region, plus meeting my guests and their pets (I am currently working on my 'Dogues' Gallery' mk III). I have quite a few return guests and plenty of 5 star reviews to attest to how much people enjoy discovering Finchley B and B.
Bronwyn Reid purchased this Cottage in 2014
Why Bronwyn Reid chose Wandandian
The setting for Finchley offers the best of both worlds... pretty and peaceful here, and within a very convenient radius of so many lovely places and things to do. The cottage (and smaller unit listed separately - refer "Little Finchley" listing number 9201723) has a spacious verandah which is great for dining al fresco or a BBQ, enjoying the afternoon easterly breezes with a glass of wine. Other options are snoozing in the hammock under the gum trees, or sitting round the (new) fire pit toasting marshmallows on a clear, still night.
What makes this Cottage unique
We chose this site for our B and B because the existing cottage, set on a very gently sloping site, really lent itself to becoming a B and B. We built on a 2-storey extension as our private residence, and a while after the B and B cottage was up and running, added the smaller unit, (end section of original cottage) as more of a budget option, ideally for through-travellers who don't need or want all the space both indoor and out - provided with the cottage, but still being pet friendly and a smaller version of a home away from home. These two units can open up into a larger one for bigger groups. Many guests love all the fenced, secure space their pets can run around in safely, plus the dog-proof-fenced yard off a rear door; the smaller unit, a spacious, enclosed, gated verandah. Well behaved, house-trained pets are welcome indoors (bowls, rugs and couch protector provided), we ask only that they do not disturb other guests and that owners clean up after their pets.

We Arrived shortly after the bushfires had threatened the area and property. Bronwyn remained in constant contact prior to our visit supplying updates about the fires around the area. When we arrived we found the accommodation was very clean and tidy. Bronwyn was there to greet us on our arrival and made sure we had everything we required for our stay. The fenced open spaces around our accommodation were great for our dog who could wander into and out of the house and around the property at will.
Thanks so much for taking the time to provide feedback, David, it's very much appreciated, especially after that hiatus when we couldn't accept any guests because of the fires around us.
It was a true pleasure to have you stay with us, and I sincerely hope we will get to welcome you back again in the not too distant future. Hamish's cool shades will surely be a major feature of my next Dogues Gallery!!
A beautiful cottage that caters for four-legged travellers too! The ideal place to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and relax.
Bronwyn is a wonderful host, very friendly and extremely helpful.
Will definitely be back!!!
Perfect for us and our dog
This place is above and beyond pet friendly! Great fenced area for our dog to run around in, bowls of water, waste bags etc, just fantastic.
The B&B itself is perfectly located to get around, super clean, comfy bed and couches, great outlook and a wonderfully stocked fridge and pantry ready for breakfast.
Bronwyn was the perfect host, very welcoming, great local tips and we can’t wait to recommend it to all our friends, and come back.
Thank you so much for taking the time to provide feedback, Emily. It was a true pleasure to meet you and Doug and George, and I sincerely hope we get to welcome you back again some time.
Brief stay in Paradise
This is the best pet friendly B&B you could imagine. Absolutely everything to ensure your comfort has been thought of and generously provided. The guest house is spotlessly clean and very comfortable. I had a wonderful night’s sleep in the lovely bed with no noise to disturb me. Loved watching the gorgeous parrots come to feed. My old dog Darcy made friends with the two sweet King Charles Cavaliers that live there and I enjoyed meeting the lovely hosts, Bronwyn and Geoff. I wish that I could have stayed longer but I look forward to returning and soaking up some more of paradise!
I very much appreciate your very kind comments, Christine. It was a true pleasure to host you both, and I just regret that it wasn't for longer. We all hope we will get the chance to welcome you back again soon , for a longer stay.
A very peaceful place with an over abundance of goodies in the fridge and pantry. Very gracious host
This was a most enjoyable stay for the human as well as the canine guests. Our needs were more than met with a large range of goodies in the pantry and the fridge. Our hosts were very helpful and friendly. The facilities were excellent with a great verandah with good views. Spacious and clean and very private.
Tranquil and welcoming
An excellent stay with our dog who was welcome inside and had his own safe yard. Such generous provision of pantry items and breakfast supplies and the cottage was so very clean. Only a 20 minute drive to the beaches.
Thank you very much for taking the time to leave feedback, Elizabeth, it's very much appreciated. I hope we'll have the pleasure of welcoming you back again some time. Bronwyn
While our property is set in a pretty and peaceful rural setting just two minutes from the Princes Highway, we are situated central to many delightful attractions in all directions, including some of the East coast's most beautiful and pristine beaches, walking trails, waterfalls, lookouts, wineries, restaurants, quaint villages; and inland, the beautiful Kangaroo Valley and Southern Highlands regions.
