We had a wonderful stay! Check-in was easy with our code texted the day before our arrival. The home is very comfortable and welcoming. It was spotless upon our arrival. It is situated an easy 5 minute walk into Lake Placid and was an ideal spot for our family vacation.

Great winter in Lake Placid

Spent 2 nights in January at this great find! Walking distance to Lake Placid town and a short drive to Whiteface and the surrounding ADK region. Great cozy property with ample space!

Fantastic getaway near town with Mountain View’s!

This is an excellent and well maintained property. Enjoy morning coffee on the deck overlooking gorgeous mountains. It’s a quick 5 minute walk to downtown and Mirror Lake with tons of things to do. Definitely recommend this as a place to stay!

Excellent!! We loved our stay completely! The only reason for my 4 stars was that the mattresses were uncomfortable in the front and back rooms (bunk room was fine).

Great long weekend

We enjoyed our stay. There was plenty of space. Comfy beds. Two bathrooms which is a plus with teenagers. Unit was clean and well equipped. Good location - 10 minute walk to shops and lake.

The condo was absolutely beautiful. Spacious, updated appliances , and the decor was stunning .

I have stayed at many condos over the past 20 years in Placid and this ranks as one of the best. The price is very reasonable and everything is updated inside. The couch and oversized chair in the living room is so comfortable , you will never want to leave. I recommend this condo to anyone who needs a place to stay while in Placid .

Comfortable, beautiful view, high end appliances, fully stocked kitchen and clean. Great property with an attentive owner. Highly recommended. The only thing I did not notice was a toaster, I may have missed it.

Just the place to get away....

My friends and I had a amazing time in this cute hideaway. It was located very close to town (walking distance) but far enough away/in a location that you felt secluded. The kitchen was well stocked for us to cook our meals and the living space was cozy (as 1 day it rained so we stayed in playing games, puzzles, etc.) We also had a night to enjoy using the grill and eating outdoors on the deck.

Perfect location

Cherokee Hide-a-way vacation destination worked perfect for all of us. We had 3 couples come up to Lake Palcid for a wedding. And all 6 of us would highly recomend the condominium and the host. Both host went beyond our expectations by making everything perfect for our stay pirror to our arrival. And even during our stay the host checked in to make sure everything was perfect. Thank you Penny and Darrell for renting us your place.

Cherokee Hide-a-way

We stayed at Cherokee Hide-a-way with our adult children and infant grandson in August to celebrate our retirement. The condo was more than we expected. It is beautifully, yet comfortably decorated, spotless and has all the comforts of home. It was the perfect set up for our family to enjoy each other’s company. It is within walking distance to the Main Street shops and restaurants. Penny was in constant contact with us making sure we were in and settled. When we reached out for recommendations for restaurants and activities , she quickly responded with suggestions and links for us to look at. I would HIGHLY recommend staying here. We will be back for sure!

Lovely respite

Cherokee Hide-a-Way was the perfect place for a relaxing break. We had 5 people for our visit and there was plenty of space for all of us to share and to hang out separately. The condo is decorated beautifully. We loved that everything was all on one level since we had our parents with us and stairs can be difficult. The view out of the front window is stunning and the deck is an amazing extension of living space. We enjoyed sitting outside to talk and read and watch all of the colorful birds that flew amidst all of the wildflowers. We also used the grill for dinner. It is also important to mention that Penny was very helpful with everything from directions, to area restaurants. She also welcomed us with some fresh watermelon and a delightful note on a chalkboard to our family and wishing my husband well in his race. We hope to be able to visit Penny's condo again in the future!!

Very beautiful Condo

The condo was very nice. It was remodel beautifully. The beds were all very comfortable. The house was clean and ready when promised. The condo was conveniently located to downtown. It is difficult to find in the winter as the snow plows push the snow to one end of the street which blocks the road entrance (and Google Maps did not acknowledge it). Penny (the owner) did provide us alternative directions through a bank entrance, which was the best way to enter and exit. If you go in the winter, you need either an AWD or 4WD to access the property. You are in a mountainous area, so that should be expected. The fireplace worked well, as did all the appliances. There were a few reasons I didn't give the property 5 stars. These reasons may not be important to every renter, but they did impact us. 1- Storage - although there were plenty of closets, most of them were marked as private. As a very neat person, I hate living out of a suitcase. There really was no where to store clothes in any of the rooms. I understand and respect that the owner needs some personal space, but part of the concept of HomeAway is to feel like you are at home. 2 - There was no microwave. I am very careful about eating whole, fresh foods, so for me personally, it wasn't a big deal. The teenage boys, on the other hand, were extremely distressed. They brought it up everyday. 3 - The internet connection was inconsistent. The boys are on a data limited plan on their phones, so without the internet connection, they were separated from civilization. Although I had plenty of data, AT&T does not work well in the Lake Placid area. So, I too was stranded (although I was not as upset about it). I think it may have had to do with the large amount of snow we had, as people were working on the roof to clear it. Other than those items, the place was beautiful and well-kept. The owner was responsive. The teenagers enjoyed skiing at Whiteface, and the non-skiers enjoyed the different venues in town. I would definitely recommend the condo. With respect to skiing, Whiteface is a 20 to 30 minute ride. The free ski bus does not pick up that close to the condo, so I ended up driving them to the slopes every morning. In the afternoon, they took the bus back to town. The driver would drop them off at St Agnes Church, which is very close to the rental.

Clean and spacious!

Plenty of room for our family of four! Beds were very comfortable, fireplace was so cozy! Great location, we walked into town multiple times. Also a short drive to the Olympic ski jump facility!

Absolutely perfect

Not sure where to begin, so I will start with CLEAN. When you first walk in, you're greeted to a CLEAN, nicely decorated living/kitchen area. Nothing outdated here. The bedrooms were nicely decorated and comfortable as well. All of the amenities you need were available The location was perfect. Literally a 5 minute walk to the village with all of the shops, restaurants, and Mirror Lake A+++ Hope to come back in the future
