About this property

Prospector Cabin By Spearfish Creek

Welcome to Prospector. It sits next to Spearfish Creek and is considered a two person cabin. Prospector is set up like a studio apartment and has a queen bed, bathroom with a stand-up shower, a kitchenette with stove, a mini fridge and microwave, and also includes all of the pots, pan, and dishes that you will need, gas fireplace for heat, Broadband WIFI, all linens and utensils. All of our cabins have a charcoal grill provided.

We allow most dogs. They must be leashed while outside the cabins. If they are left alone and anxious they must be kenneled if there is any chance they will destroy any part of our property. If they disturb other guests with barking or crying while left in the cabins you will be called to come back and care for them or take them along on your daily travels. Aggressive pets will not be tolerated on our property.
The rates for pets are 20/day up to 20lbs. 20-50 lbs are 30/day and over 50lbs are 40/day.
Remember that all people are not dog lovers as many of us are and we need to be courteous of their choices.

The property was nice. It was 100 degrees when we went but the cabin inside was about 115. There is no air conditioning and we had 5 fans running but it was still too hot. My food was all ruined by the refrigerator. We planned on staying 5 days. Got there on Saturday afternoon and left by Monday morning. It was miserably hot inside the cabin. My little dog was miserable too. Bring a portable air conditioner if you have small kids or dogs.

I am so sorry that the very hot temperature made for such an uncomfortable experience and that you had to cut short your vacation. None of our 20 cabins have A/C. Even on hot days, we are thankful that the nights do cool down in the canyon. Often in the summer, the nights get down to the 40s/50s. Though we do have some very hot spells where it does not cool down quite that low. We were at 100% occupancy that week, and tried to offer "cooling down" ideas to our guests, by putting fruit-based popsicles in the freezer of each cabin as well as bottled water in the fridges of the cabins. Many of our guests took advantage of wading in the refreshingly cool water of Spearfish Creek which flows through our property as a way to cool down, even if at least temporarily. However, we sensitive to the fact that the cabins were quite warm and that some folks are more heat-sensitive than others. We are very sorry that you and your little dog were miserably hot and had to leave due to the heat. We are glad that, despite the hot temperature that Mother Nature threw our way, you found the property nice. We wish you all the best.

Enjoyed the privacy

Very nice wooded setting away from the crowds of Lead and Deadwood. Could have used some hotter water for showers, but overall very pleased. Would definitely recommend.
