About this property

Chassell House #1 at Portage Lake

Great for all seasons and super convenient for enjoying local activities - Newly remodeled and decorated to be a welcoming retreat for travelers to Chassell or nearby Houghton and Michigan Tech. The Chassell Township Park, trails, the annual strawberry festival are all just a few steps from the front porch.

This house is perfect for boating/fishing and snowmobiling vacations.
Located on Hwy 41, this house has parking for trailers and is easy to find. It is located across from the Chassell Centennial Park at Pike Bay, a sheltered cove off the South end of Portage Lake. The park has a boat launch and fishing pier.

There is off street parking for two vehicles. In summer, parking is at the back door entrance. In winter, parking is on the side lawn and a plow service clears the snow from the parking area.

The fully equipped kitchen has what you need to prepare meals and dine-in. There are a few notable extras— filtered water, ice maker, coffee pot; full-sized washer and dryer, hot water kettle, microwave, and toaster are included. The dining table seats four but there are dishes and silverware enough more.

The house has a hot water boiler and radiators for heat to keep you warm and cozy in the winter. That means you get plenty of hot water for showers. The bathrooms have showers - no bathtubs.

The house has WiFi internet and Alexa is there too to keep you connected.

The house has 2 bedrooms on the main floor and one bedroom upstairs. One room on the main floor has a queen sized bed, the other has a full sized bed with twin sized bunk on top. Both rooms have ceiling fans with remote controls. The upstairs bedroom has 2 twin sized beds and window AC for the summer months. All of the beds are made up with cozy cotton flannel sheets and cotton comforters. The bedding contains no wool or feathers. The pillows are polyester-filled.

Thank you for considering this property and hope you give us the opportunity to welcome you as our guest.

Chassell - front house
Very clean, description of the property is accurate. Owner was very accessible and responded quickly to questions. Property is across the street from the Centennial Park with boat launch, small beach, picnic area, farmers market, etc. - bait shop and small general store a couple of doors down which was convenient. Only odd thing (not anything negative about the property or owners) was the chickens a couple of doors down that were loud...didn't bother us, just wasn't expecting it. One comment about the property is to be very careful on the stairs to the upper level, they are very narrow. It's an older house so again, nothing bad just an FYI. Overall good experience. :)
