Pura vida!

We saw toucans, parrots, hummingbirds, white-faced monkeys climbing and jumping through trees almost daily, a variety of butterflies, even a sloth, without having to leave the pool area! The property and grounds are beautiful. Just soaking it all in from the veranda was exceedingly pleasant and relaxing. Manuel was great, very friendly and responsive. We really enjoyed our stay and will hope to stay here the next time we visit Costa Rica.

2nd time in Paradise !

After 8 years we came back to El Paraiso for the 2nd time this year ! If you are looking for a place to relax, away from the crowds - this is it ! This is in particular why we made it a second time and it might not have been our last visit. Enjoy amazing sunsets, various birds like Tucans and Parrots, Monkeys, Sloths or Anteaters - they are just around you in the jungle ! If you want to enjoy a day at the beach with Jetski, Parasailing and ice cold drinks, Manuel Antonio is just about 25 mins away... We also did a couple of day trips to the Nauyaka waterfalls or the Hacienda Baru Wildlife Refugee, a catamaran tour from Jaco as well as a fishing trip with Yarelis and Manuel. Speaking of them, Yarelis is the housekeeper and Manuel is the property manager and gardener. They will do absolutely everything to make you feel at home and add to the overall experience / feel of your stay ! So, if you are thinking about a vacation in CR, Puntarenas Area - El Paraiso is an amazing place to go ! Thanks again, Rene and Antje

Beautiful home !!! Beautiful Manuel Antonio!

El Paraiso is a stunning home with even more stunning views! Exactly like the pictures. We loved our short visit, wished it were a little longer.....next time. You will require a 4x4 as the incline & roads from the pristine main highway are steep. Must see - Manuel Antonio Beach and area.

Wonderful place to experience Pura Vida

El Parisio truly is paradise. Exceptional property in a great location. Close to Manuel Antonio and Marino Ballena National Parks. 10 minutes to Playa Matapolo and Playa Linda beaches. Manuel, the property manager and concierge is the best. We have already scheduled for next year.

It really is PARADISE

Beautiful!!! Beautifully decorated home, manicured lawn, which could be considered a botanical garden elevated above the surrounding terrain with a view of the Pacific Ocean Pictures on VRBO are inadequate. When we arrived we were totally surprised We added two extra days to our visit because we didn't want to leave Kitchen has everything you should need including coffee A front wheel drive vehicle might get you here, but it definitely would be a challenge. Road is good, but steep in one or two areas

Fantastic home and property on side of mountain!

This was a fantastic home and property. Plenty of wildlife around to see. In fact after we went on several tours in the area, we saw more animals at the house! Manuel the caretaker was very nice, and helpful and kept everything very clean. Yarelis made us a great costa rican dinner! Very peaceful setting!

Terrific value, particularly for the nature lover

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at El Pasaito. The house is very spacious, with a large kitchen inside and another outside. The views of the hills and forest are spectacular and there are balconies a plenty at the house to view the ocean/sunset from. Manuel is the local caretaker who is there daily to make sure that everything is okay, that the pool is clean, etc. He cleared some trails through the forest where we saw dozens of species of birds (toucans, parrots, tanagers, and warblers galore) in addition to salamanders, monkeys, poison dart frogs, and green tree frogs! We were sad to leave and can't recommend this place enough! Only 20 minutes from great beaches with hardly a soul on them, and Manuel Antonio National Park and Quepos are not too far away.

Beautiful Property

This was indeed paradise. Every detail of this amazing property was aesthetically pleasing. There must have been 50 hand-painted rocks scattered throughout the property. The décor was filled with Costa Rican art objects. The pool was lovely and the lounge chair pads with terry covers were great. We saw Toucans every day. The kitchen was the most fully stocked of any VRBO we've ever rented. Finally we slept on lovely sheets and relatively comfortable beds! The property manager was helpful. The only drawback was not having comfortable furniture. The two "sofas" were nice window-type seats, and for five days, they weren't comfortable for reading and hanging out. Regardless, I would give this property a 5-star rating.

A beautiful top getaway

El Paraiso is a very special spot made extra special by the care and attention you will receive from Manuel and Teresa. The home is impeccable, the views are better than promised, and the monkeys and toucans are just outside your front door. All that and one o the most beautiful beaches we have ever seen just a five-minute drive from the house -- Matapalo. Thank you Teresa. Gracias Manuel. Our introduction to Costa Rica was all we imagined and more.

Love this place

We stayed at El Paraiso villa for 5 days from Nov. 19 to Nov 24. The property was amazing inside and outside. We loved the pool area, BBQ and wet bars. Kitchen has everything we needed. Manuel was very helpful. We have ordered food couple times and it was very delicious. I'd like to come back in the future.

This was our third stay at El Paraiso and it seems to get better every Year. Close to superb quite beaches and great ocean views, Manuel and Yerelis were a great help as usual. Yerelis prepared a fantastic "Tico" dinner for us again. We will be making plans very soon for our next vacation. Thanks for perfection. Wayne

Once in a lifetime experience!!

The property was a palace jewel located in a virgin forest dotted with wild life such as Toucan birds, monkeys and many more making for many hours of entertainment. All the rooms were large and appointments were of top quality. The grounds were well manicured, clean and spacious. In all a truly "once in a lifetime experience" !!!!!

Paradise in the Rainforest

We arrived Christmas Day (2016) to what can only be described as peaceful paradise. The driveway (a four wheel drive is preferred - which we had) access makes it even that much more charming as you navigate a gravel road through lush rainforest up to top of mountain. The property and house are amazing. The house was immaculate and Manuel met us as we drove up. What a kind soulful spirit he is. My two college age daughters enjoyed the pool and we totally embraced the Pura Vida lifestyle by using the outdoor grill/pavilion (a Costa Rican way of life) the whole time we were there. The wildlife was amazing as well. Toucans, monkeys, lizards etc were constant wonders to see. Location of house is close to quiet beautiful beaches as well as the towns of Quepos and Dominical (hippy surfer town we loved). San Jose was about 3 hours away and Fortuna about 5 1/2 hours away by car. Teresa arranged for local chef (yvelis) to cook for us and it was a fantastic meal. Thanks to all for a great experience.

Another Day in Paradise

This was our second stay at El Paraiso and again we were totally enthralled with the villa. The tranquil locale is just perfect if you enjoy privacy and the feel of nature right on the edge of the jungle. The amenities and comfort of the villa are fantastic. Manuel, the local property manager, is immediately available for any assistance if required. We had Yeleris cook a Costa Rican dinner for us which was amazing. The beach at Matapolo, a 5 minute drive, is incredible. We are already planning another visit for next year. Thanks, Manuel and Yerelis, for your friendly service. Wayne/Barclay

Just what the "Doctor" ordered!

This home sits on a beautiful hillside over looking the ocean on the horizon. The place is quiet, peaceful and beautifully kept and maintained. The caretaker "Manuel", is friendly, helpful and accommodating. We enjoyed our stay because we wanted a place to ourselves without all the "resort" music, activities and culture. Everyday ... 2 beautiful parrots visited us as well as toucans. It is very near Quepos for shopping and dining as well as the National Park, Manuel San Antonio. We will be back! Pura Vida Todo! The Perfect Family Getaway

We arrived late, after dark at El Paraiso and we were met by Manuel who had been available by text and cell to coordinate our arrival. He helped with our baggage and showed us all features of the house. He told us to call him with any questions or problems. We immediately noticed that the house and property were in meticulous condition. The kitchen is spacious and the best equipped of any kitchen in my rental experience. All utensils and appliance were spotlessly clean and organized. We like to cook and everything was available --excellent pots, blenders small and large, whisks, spatulas, good quality chef's knives and very nice quality glasses and plates and a dishwasher and washer dryer all with appropriate detergents! The MaxiPali grocery is 15 min away and has everything that you will need. You can stop there on the highway on your way to the house before arrival. We also bought delicious fresh tuna at the seafood stand in the market in Quepos. The beds and linens are very comfortable, the bathrooms are spacious and the towels are fluffy and pristine with amenities kits provided. Also of importance, there are individual air conditioners in the bedrooms and living area--all of these work very well. The outdoor areas are spectacular and perfectly maintained. The small pool with the tanning deck is fantastic and we didn't miss having a full sized pool. We ate outside at night and the ambiance was spectacular. You have to rent a 4x4 vehicle to get up the road. We really enjoyed having our own private 1 km driveway for walking and jogging through the magnificent pastures and palm plantation. The house is very close to some of the best beaches like Matapalo which are beautiful and not crowded. You are 20 minutes from Quepos or Dominical /Uvita both of which have many activities. There are very good restaurants within 5 minutes of the house and there is a small market across from the entrance to the driveway. We can not say how much we appreciate your sharing your lovely home and property with us. Manuel and Yarelis take great pride in their work and are so helpful in every respect. We hope to return sooner than later.

Oasis in the Costa Rican Jungle

RELAXATION, COMFORT, NATURE, ADVENTURE and OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER SERVICE! I can't say enough about this Costa Rican Paradise, "El Paraiso". I was astonished by the amenities and comforts that this rental home provided. A few included washer and dryer, well maintained kitchen appliances/utensils, air conditioning, comfortable bedding and TV, these amenities were a nice retreat after enjoying the outside all day . The entire home was extremely CLEAN! Relaxation was easily obtained by lounging both in and out of the pool, as well as an occasional nap, really places your mind at ease. Listening to the birds chirps all around, was a pleasant reminder that I was really in the jungle on a true vacation experience. Manuel, the groundskeeper, really gave the home a personal touch. Anything that we needed, questions, or wanted to find, he was there to provide service. He was there to greet us when we arrived, accessible during our stay and waved good-bye as we left. The hiking paths were clear and he gave us a guided tour. Manuel showed us wild boar foot prints, pointed out the sloth and we observed the active jungle ants diligently working. during our hike. Later that day, the toucans greeted us as we watched them from the bathroom window. The monkeys were plentiful to view, and we could hear them rustling in the nearby trees. We took advantage of the housekeeping service as well as the chef. The authentic Costa Rican meal was DELICIOUS! (The additional cost was well worth it!) Overall, I have not stopped sharing my experience and the comforts that made this vacation astonishing. I will rent again at this vacation home as soon as my time permits. Pura Vida!

BEST OF BOTH WORLDS

The villa was spacious and perfect for our needs. The pictures shown on the property site, actually under portray the beauty and charm of the villa and surrounding landscape. Needless to say, our expectations were greatly exceeded. Karyn was very cooperative in providing any additional information and assistance we required prior to our booking. Manual and Karyn were most helpful during our stay and were readily available when required. If you are looking for total tranquility, privacy and a sense of seclusion, this is the place to be. The short easy drive to Quepos and Manuel Antonio park made this location the best of both worlds. The near by beach was fabulous. Great surf, sand and the feeling of having it all to yourself. We hope to return soon. Thanks for the wonderful experience. Wayne and Barclay

Beautiful property - lovely caretaker

We are seasoned travellers and this is our second time touring Costa Rica. Beautiful property, well appointed home and a friendly caretaker named Manuel. He is thorough and efficient. The resident cat was an added bonus, a sweet little guy who lives outside and is cared for by Manuel. We were admittedly disappointed however by 2 things: - The house is out in the middle of nowhere, halfway between Quepos and Dominical accessed by a windy gravel road and then a very steep driveway that lies beyond a tall gate that you must unlock and lock each time that runs up the mountain. We figured we'd have a better chance at seeing animals by being so far but sadly we didn't see a thing. The property sits atop a mountain surrounded by palm oil plantations and there is little wildlife to be seen here. We even went on a trek through the dark jungle to see if we could find anything but were more mindful of snakes than anything as it is quite dark and it was raining. We think we saw a Toucan fly by once and there were many small colourful birds in the area but that was all. Lots of Cane Toads at night if you like toads. (thankfully we do...) - The second disappointment was that the pool is very small (it appears much larger on the photos) so if you're a larger family (there were 5 of us), the pool won't be a key feature. It's as deep as your ankle for half of it then there's a half portion of the pool that you can wade into up to your waist. It was perfect for our 7 year old. The BBQ area is nice at night, all lit up and the balconies are also nice to sit on and enjoy the greenery of the plantations and fields that lie beyond it. If you look closely on a clear day you can see the ocean in the distance but I wouldn't call this house an 'ocean view'. Don't recommend staying here in the rainy season as the electricity does go out a fair bit and you are so isolated it's quite a trek to leave the house in a storm to a nearby village especially if it's pouring out. If you want to really get away from it all and be alone and don't care about wildlife or a big pool, or the power going out daily, then this is a beautiful, comfortable, well-appointed home to chill in and I'm sure the cat would appreciate the company.

A paradise in the jungle.

I have nothing but good things to say about this place. My wife and I have used homeaway/VRBO all over the world and have found great properties. This is definitely among the best! The property was beautifully kept and all the amenities were laid out just where we needed them. We arrived slightly early, but the caretaker, Manuel, was gracious enough to interrupt what he was doing to meet us at El Paraiso and give us a tour and all the instructions we needed to make our stay as pleasant as possible. We had lunch plans that afternoon, but we quickly cancelled them when we realized that we would rather stay in and relax in the beautiful property. We stayed buy the pool all afternoon and enjoyed all the wonderful birds, and especially a beautiful toucan who serenaded us for about 30 minutes. We also enjoyed the visit of capuchin monkeys the next morning as we were getting ready to go to Manuel Antonio National Park. Overall a great experience and would recommend it highly. Note that you should have a 4x4 to access the property and we're glad to have gotten that instruction from Karen, the property manager, when we were making the arrangements.
