About this property
Luxury, views & privacy in Provence
We invite you to retreat to La Mourrade, in walking distance of the village of Cadenet in Provence. This gem is nestled in 7 hectares of olive and almond groves, with sunrise-to-sunset views of the Luberon valley. Chef's kitchen, pool, & fireplaces.
The space
To take advantage of the wonderful views, La Mourrade has three stone terraces with dining tables and hammocks, and the house itself is built around a sheltered courtyard. The expansive grounds include ancient olive trees, stately cypress, tall shade trees, flowering plants and shrubs, and a large swimming pool.
Inside, the farmhouse has been carefully renovated to preserve the Provencal charm of the home, while bringing in lots of light and all modern conveniences – including, of course, high speed internet access.
Off the entry foyer is a small cozy living room with a fireplace, which leads into the larger seating area and games room. Here, upholstered sofas and easy chairs are grouped in front of the second living room fireplace. The room is warm and welcoming with large windows that frame the sunset.
The Provencal-style kitchen is built around a fireplace and an original ancient stone basin. This is an oasis for the best of cooks, with a professional gas cook-top, three ovens, two dishwashers, a new French-door refrigerator, an under counter refrigerator in the island, a freezer, microwave oven, and coffee maker. Spacious granite counters cover the cabinets and the island, which seats four. There is also a round teak table that seats six sits in front of the fireplace, near the arch to the dining room with an ebony table for 12.
La Mourrade has a total of 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, as well as a guest WC on the ground floor. The bedrooms are beautifully decorated and feature lovely bedcovers, curtains and shutters, bedside tables, chests and ample wardrobe space. The bathrooms have colorful ceramic tilework, including tiled showers. Elsewhere, terra cotta tile floors accent a combination of stylish contemporary and warm antique furnishings and fine carpets, which are sourced from both France and the owners’ years living in Asia.
The biggest challenge you will face on your stay at La Mourrade will be pulling yourself away long enough to visit the charming villages in the vicinity and the cultural centers of Aix en Provence and Avignon.

During your stay at La Mourrade the house and pool are entirely yours.

About the host
Hosted by Robin K McClellan

My family fell in love with Cadenet many years ago, and we have slowly renovated La Mourrade into our dream home. The house is furnished with treasures from Indonesia and Malaysia, where we lived during my former life as a career diplomat - a job which gave me ample opportunity to indulge in my love of travel! Another love is cooking, and thanks to recent renovations La Mourrade now boasts a luxurious chef's kitchen. Some of my favourite activities in the Luberon include visiting the vibrant local weekly markets in the neighbouring villages, bringing home the best fish, wood-fired bread, and produce I can find, and then finding ways to showcase them as elegantly and simply as possible!
While I eventually plan on retiring to Cadenet, I now split my time between Perth, Australia, Jakarta, Indonesia, western Kansas in the US, and France.
My life motto -- in some ways learned the hard way -- never forego a chance to dance with your loved ones (and travel with them to the south of France!) while you can!
