About this property
Large Family Cabin in the Shenandoah Valley - Book Today - Dog Friendly!!
THE AREA
Just a quick 2-hour drive away from the DC metro area, so whether you are looking for a fun-filled adventure or just a relaxing weekend away from the hustle and bustle, this property will enable you to truly customize your vacation. The fresh mountain property is located just a mile from the main Bryce Resort Lodge. Our warm cozy cabin offers a rustic feel nestled among the trees with modern accommodations.
THE CABIN
Located a mile from the Bryce Resort, this 2900 square foot, 4 bedroom cabin is a perfect place for multiple families to chill out. The home is unique for the area because its layout provides four families to have privacy and common spaces together.
There are 3 levels offering a total of four bedrooms and 3 baths. The main floor has an open concept kitchen with a dining area that fits up to 10 people. There is a bedroom with a queen bed and a second bedroom with a full bed and bunk beds. There is also a bathroom, office, screened in porch, and deck on the main level.
Downstairs there is a bathroom, bedroom with a full bed, enormous rec room with a pull out twin bed and queen sofa bed. There is also a Foosball and air hockey table, and let's not forget and indoor corn hole set up and a bump out sitting room. Guests will also have access to a laundry room if they need it.
The master suite on the third floor has its own private deck, full bathroom, queen bed, and twin bed.
The cabin offers central air conditioning for maximum comfort in the summers. For large groups, the parking area allows for up to 6 cars.
Guests have Wi-Fi and a new home office in case you can't step away from your work during your mountain retreat. Expanded cable as well as streaming apps are available on the televisions.
The updated kitchen has a new refrigerator and dishwasher, under cabinet lighting, additional cookware and farm sink. The kitchen is stocked with everything to make your stay comfortable if you choose to work your magic in the kitchen. The renovated screened in porch and private deck feels like you are back in a tree house from your early years.
The cabin became DOG FRIENDLY as of 9/2021 (seems like this pandemic brought more furry friends to families). There is a limit at this time of ONE dog per stay with a pet fee of $85. There are also some restrictions for your pet if you choose to bring him/her (not allowed on furniture or bedding/preferably crated if no one is in the cabin).
THE SURROUNDING AREA
A three minute drive will take guests to Bryce Resort where they will find the first tee of the golf course, mountain bike trails, the ski lifts, or the recreation area which offers a pro shop, hiking, zip lining, private airport, and basketball courts. The Copper Kettle Bar & Lounge at the main lodge offers food and drinks 7 nights a week. Events at Bryce Resort are year-round (check web site)
Lake Laura is a short walk from the house and offers: Fishing, Swimming, Paddle Boating, Kayaking, Beach Front, and Hiking Trails.
Centrally located to more than 7 different wineries and vineyards including: Shenandoah, Cave Ridge, Wolf Gap, Kindred Pointe, Muse, Wisteria, and Cedar Creek. Delicious breweries such as Swover Creek, Ridge Runner Farms, Woodstock, Bald Top, Box Office, and Siblings' Rivalry are also in the area.
Easy day trips in all directions include: Multiple Cavern Tours, Museums, War Memorials, National Parks, The Shenandoah River (Fly Fishing, Rafting, and Tubing), The Blue Ridge Mountains, Historic Sites, Orchards, Farms, Antique Shops, Shenandoah Music Festival Grounds, Harrisonburg, and James Madison University (just 40 minutes away)
There is a grocery store (Food Lion) in Mt. Jackson by Interstate 81, which is about 15-20 min from the resort. Once in Basye, there is local convenience store/gas station that has a small selection of a bit of everything (basic grocery items, drinks, frozen pizzas, toiletries, etc). The RH House (also walkable) offers great wine, upscale appetizers, and unique delicious fare. The resort has a restaurant in the Lodge.

About the host
Hosted by Maureen Marshall Finley

We live in Northern Virginia with our children and love getting out to the mountains to escape the hustle and bustle of the DC area. As our children are getting older with a variety of activities, using the house regularly has become difficult. We thought we would offer it to others who need to just get away.
Why they chose this property
Compared to many properties in the area, this one allows for multiple families (2-3) to visit with enough room for children to hang out and have a good time away from the adults. We spent five years updating most of the house and the recent pandemic allowed for the finishing touches.
What makes this property unique
The entire lower levels offers enough room to play indoor corn hole or can be set up with multiple sleeping bags for children to have an indoor sleepover. Bring a tent and let the kids have a sleep out under the stars outside!
