Unfortunate experience

I cannot provide any comment on the property. My booking was totally messed up. Prior to arrival I notified the host that due to a change in plans we would only be able use a portion of our booking. Once in Rio I contacted the host and made arrangements with her to meet to get the keys and access to the unit. Upon arrival at the building we were met on the street by the host who informed us that due to a serious water leak in the apartment above the night before the Sea view apartment we had booked is damaged and not available. She did not permit us to see the unit but instead took us about 3 blocks away from the beach and showed us an apartment that was comparable in size but on a side street with a view only of an unsightly apartment building. Since I specifically chose the apartment for the “amazing sea view”, this was not close to acceptable. I spent several hours between phone calls with VRBO and discussions with the host trying to arrange a refund for the remaining days but could not resolve the issue. I arranged alternative accommodation myself. I was told by VRBO staff that a refund was in order and my situation had been “escalated” and to expect an e-mail shortly to address the situation. It has been almost 3 weeks -I have placed numerous phone calls to VRBO - have still not received an e-mail so still waiting to hear from VRBO on what the final resolution will be. I appreciate that the situation was out of the control of the host but this is ridiculous.

O processo de comunicação correu sem problemas, Tereza foi solícita e eficiente em nos responder sempre prontamente. A localização em Copacabana é bastante conveniente, fácil de se locomover e com muitas opções para qualquer necessidade. O edifício é antigo, entao caso tenha necessidade de deixar malas ou usar o banheiro antes do checkin, ou mesmo com relação a descarte de lixo, a infraestrutura nao coopera. Conforme as fotos, o apartamento é logo em frente à praia, bom para turismo, mas a música alta à noite precisa ser levada em consideração antes da reserva. Conexão Wi-Fi funciona somente na sala, mas nao nos quartos. A limpeza de maneira geral foi bem feita, porém a manutenção deixa a desejar - exemplo: forro de sofás sujos/manchados, porta de um dos banheiros de correr sem trava, algumas dificuldades com água quente em algumas torneiras etc. Razoável custo benefício no geral.
