About this property

4 Bdrm Lakefront Family Cottage near Sir Sam's

Bright, spacious, and recently renovated 4-season lakefront cottage, minutes from Sir Sam's Ski/Ride. Nestled amongst nature, the unoccupied naturally treed shoreline across the lake gives you a sense of complete seclusion. Fronting on the beautiful, pristine and peaceful water of Basshaunt Lake (rare non-powerboat lake), the shore offers a private sandy entry for all ages. This peaceful retreat is perfect for both relaxation and year-round sports and leisure activities, and it is a 20 minute drive from downtown Haliburton. Relax on the private dock or sip your beverage of choice from the patio overlooking the lake.

Important notes:
- This is a perfect quiet spot for families looking for a peaceful getaway. It's really not a good spot for those who want to party and blare loud music etc., as there are community enforced noise restrictions within the Eagle Lake community.
- There is a security camera on the front porch facing the front driveway/entrance for security purposes.
- For winter bookings, we strongly recommend winter tires due to the nature of rural Ontario and snowfalls.

About the cottage: It is a 4 bedroom house (3 bedrooms on the main floor, 1 on the lower level), with 1.5 bathrooms (4 pc and 2 pc) and separate sitting/TV areas on each floor.

Ski weekend
We had a great weekend skiing at sir Sam’s! The rental was great! Communication with the host was excellent. It was extremely cold outside but the cabin stayed warm and cozy. We had a 7 month old and the house was very kid friendly with a baby gate and lots of toys. Would recommend

Relaxing and quiet
A few of us wanted to get away and couldn’t have asked for a better place. The area was beautiful, easy access to the lake, quiet. Owners were very easy to work with and answered all of our questions. We had a wonderful time, would definitely book again!

A quiet and clean cottage.
We were very impressed with the property. It was exactly as listed. It was clean and well stocked. We had everything we needed. The area is quiet and tucked away which is exactly what we wanted. Communication with the property owners was easy. They were very responsive. Would book again.

Awesome time!
We are an extended family of 10 ranging from 8 to 74 years old. We loved that the cottage was so clean when we arrived and easy to keep clean throughout. The lake is really special, with a lot of the shoreline undeveloped. We brought 2 kayaks and used their kayaks and canoe as well to the explore the lake every day, seeing loons, beavers, herons, and turtles. For us it is a bonus to be on a lake with no motor boats. By the way the paddle boards and kayaks are really nice boats, sometimes especially with kayaks you get pretty basic ones but these were sit in with good tracking and my 11 yr old niece paddled half the lake with me in them, my 70 is year old mum also could use them. Great boats. We all swam. To jump off it has to be a cannon ball because it's not very deep, however we did go out further in the bay for deeper water as well. There is a nice sandy entry beside the dock. We caught a couple huge fish out in the main part of the lake and played board games every night. We had a foosball tournament and watched the world cup final on the big screen. We also visited the wolf centre and south algonquin (High Falls hike) which was beautiful. We have a long list of criteria that suits our family and this cottage checked them all with maybe a half point deduction that the kids couldn't practice their crazy twisty jumps. Ludmila and Guillaume were super responsive to us and I would highly recommend their place, unless that means it makes it harder for us to book. 😊 TY

We are a family residing in Toronto and this cottage is our home away from home. We have young children ourselves which means we always take into account what it means to have children, their safety, their entertainment, as well as the small logistical considerations such as high chairs, sleeping arrangements, life vests for children, gate for the stairs, and so on.

We have chosen to rent out our cottage to other families for the times we are unable to use it ourselves and hope you will enjoy it as much as we have.

Why they chose this property

This cottage is bright, spacious, with a lovely view from the main area through the large floor-to-ceiling windows. The shoreline across the lake is natural and free of cottages, making it seem like you're truly surrounded by nature.

The lake is a non-power boat lake which means it is extremely clean (no oil residue from gasoline motors), peaceful (no loud boats or jet skis passing by throughout the day), and safe (no need to worry about boats or jet ski creating strong waves) while you are out on the water.

The lake can be entered either from the sandy shoreline next to the dock for a slow and easy entry point (especially useful for children, seniors and for watercrafts), or from the dock itself.

You can enjoy a relaxing meal or drink on the deck while watching over the entire waterfront, grassy area, dock and fire pit. Furthermore, with the South facing view, you can enjoy the sun all day long.

The large open main area is great for family gatherings and socializing, while the recreation room and desk in the downstairs area is great for anyone that might want some quiet time or need to work while at the lake.

What makes this property unique

Extremely clean, peaceful and safe non-power boat lake. These types of lakes are a rare find.

You can enter the lake by the sandy shoreline or the dock, which makes this a great property for all ages.

The grassy area offers a space to kick a ball, play badminton, etc., when taking a break from enjoying the lake. There is ample sitting space around the fire pit as well.

The Viceroy cottage style has floor-to-ceiling windows that give you a fantastic panoramic view of the lake and natural shoreline. Even when indoors, you get the full visual benefit of the outdoors.
